Cool little ferry ride and next thing you know, we're on an island - nice fun little place. Think we might want to go back there some time soon and really get to visit it some more...

Description on front of card: View of Southwest Cove and Dept. of Conservation Pier, Put-In-Bay, Ohio
Date written in stamp area: 1961
Condition: Unused
Published by: Schnoor & Fuchs, Put-In-Bay, Ohio / Curteich-Chicago "C.T. American Art" by Curt Teich Co., Chicago, Illinois
Publisher Note:
Curt Teich emigrated to Chicago in 1895. He had worked as a lithographer in Lobenstein, Germany.
He founded the Curt Teich Company in 1898, concentrating on newspaper and magazine printing. He was an early publisher of postcards, but he didn't begin printing them himself until 1908.
According to MetroPostcard.com, "As his competition dwindled, his sales expanded and his American factories would eventually turn out more postcards than any other in the United States. "
The company was best known for their wide range of advertising and postcards of North America. By the 1920s, it was producing so many postcards with borders that they became recognized as a type dubbed "White Border Cards," creating an "era."
Curt Teich started using offset presses in 1907, but it took a number of years before he had offset presses made to his satisfaction, and many more years for him to perfect the method.
His innovations in this printing technique directly led to the production of what we now call "linens" by the early 1930s.
The company aided the war effort during the second world war by also printing many military maps.
Curt Teich eventually turned management of the company over to his son, but he remained active in company operations throughout its history.
Curt Teich died in 1974 and the family business was sold to Regensteiner Publishers who continued to print postcards at the Chicago plant until 1978 when the rights to the company name and processes were sold to the Irish company, John Hinde Ltd. Their California subsidiary now prints postcards under the name John Hinde Curteich, Inc.

I almost got this one at the right time, as you can just see the stone exiting the frame on the right.
I put a cup of organic pumpkin seeds and a teaspoon of salt in the food processor and ground them up nice and fine. Then I added a cup of organic raisins and continued to blend it. When that got to be a big sticky blob, I added about four tablespoons of unrefined coconut oil, and four tablespoons of canola oil. Kept mixing… Sprinkled in some pumpkin pie spice… Drizzled in two tablespoons of organic molasses, then about three tablespoons of lime juice, and a couple squirts of agave nectar, until a “spreadable” consistency was achieved. The color certainly does not mimic that of peanut butter, but it does make a tasty treat. I feel better about serving that to Joe regularly than soynut butter, which I consider to be kind of a processed junk food, but just have not found a suitable alternative for those “on the go” days, when we need a quick lunch. So, a small success!

1st Station of the Cross.
Krizni Put - Way of the Cross from Dubrovnik to the top of Mount Srd (412m, 1351ft).
Stations of the Cross or the Way of the Cross, also known as Way of Sorrows or Via Crucis, refers to a series of images depicting Jesus Christ on the day of his crucifixion and accompanying prayers. The stations grew out of imitations of Via Dolorosa in Jerusalem which is believed to the be the actual path Jesus walked to Mount Calvary. The object of the stations is to help the Christian faithful to make a spiritual pilgrimage through contemplation of the Passion of Christ.
The standard set from the 17th to 20th centuries has consisted of 14 pictures or sculptures depicting the following scenes:
1. Jesus is condemned to death
2. Jesus carries his cross
3. Jesus falls the first time
4. Jesus meets his mother
5. Simon of Cyrene helps Jesus carry the cross
6. Veronica wipes the face of Jesus
7. Jesus falls the second time
8. Jesus meets the women of Jerusalem
9. Jesus falls the third time
10. Jesus is stripped of his garments
11. Crucifixion: Jesus is nailed to the cross
12. Jesus dies on the cross
13. Jesus is taken down from the cross (Deposition or Lamentation)
14. Jesus is laid in the tomb.
Although not traditionally part of the Stations, the Resurrection of Jesus is sometimes included as a fifteenth station.
To provide a version of this devotion more closely aligned with the biblical accounts, Pope John Paul II introduced a new form of devotion, called the Scriptural Way of the Cross on Good Friday 1991.
Thank God McDonalds opened around 5 AM!
I woke up just before to put on my photo-ninja outfit to be sure to get the sunrise in Yellowstone. Once you are in the park, there's not a lot of food or drink options, and it's not a good idea to take a bag o' food out into the wild. But, it was a good idea to stop at McDonalds in West Yellowstone to get a giant coffee.
The rivers in Yellowstone are fed by both rain and geothermal sources, so the water is a bit more warm than you would expect. The cool mornings, even in July, brings fresh steam off the tops. Once the sun finally comes up, it gives everything a golden hue.
I know that many of you have used my World of Textures Tutorial (thanks!) to try some different things with your photography. I still do this a lot too. Obviously, I did it here as well, and used three different textures to achieve this.
Tomorrow, stay tuned for a new video that shot while at another location in Yellowstone. I gave a sneak peak of it to people that got the Newsletter... I tried to set low expectations, and that seemed to work because people liked it! Ah well... let me try to reset low expectations... it's not that good.

As always, my hubby & I had a wonderful time at PIB, Ohio. We went on our annual trip two weeks after our anniversary this year in hopes of being there for peak of the fall foilage....Unfortunatly, I think we missed it by one week!!! We still had a wonderful time and got to see many beautiful things, like this sunset by the South Bass Lighthouse! I know the horizon is not 100% straight, but that's what happens after visiting the winery!!!
Hope you are all having a wonderful week and hope to catch up on your photostreams soon!!!
Eryn made me a pile of awesome crepe paper fans and this one fit nicely on my naked ninja witch ornament.
