The Hong Kong Truck Culture
The number of Trucks, Vans* and Special Purpose Vehicles (Light, Medium & Heavy) registered + licenced in Hong Kong seems to fluctuate between 120,000 - 125,000 vehicles and presumably new trucks registered are offset by old trucks being retired or sold over the border in China.
*Vans are classified as Light Goods Vehicles and are not shown in this album
In Hong Kong Trucks are classified as GOODS VEHICLES By the Transport Department - see below
☛Light Goods Vehicles - Goods vehicles of permitted gross vehicle weight not exceeding 5.5 tonnes.

Purpose built as a school in 1889, the hall of Ellerslie College is a two room structure constructed of local Merri stone. There is a single storey stone cottage attached to the rear of the hall which appears to be of earlier construction, probably c.1870.
The hall was built in an early mediaeval style and is formed by two rooms in an L shaped configuration with gable ends. The place is entered through a round arched doorway into a parapeted entry foyer. The windows to the hall are double lancet in form with bulbous centre pilasters.
Internally the class rooms are plain with timber lined ceiling following the line of the roof trusses. A number of internal doors illustrate the buildings past use with the sign "Library" painted on the glass of one door and "Quiet Room" on another. However it is unclear whether this is related to the place's use as a school or as a Toc H branch.
The use of the Gothic Revival style for schools was associated with high aspirations in learning and moral vigour, particularly through the promotion of Gothic Revival architecture by the Oxford Movement and the Cambridge Camden Society. The use of Gothic Revival also had associations to the prestige of the universities of Oxford and Cambridge. Its use can be seen in a range of educational buildings of the nineteenth century both in Australia and in Great Britain which draw references from early medieval to tudor architecture.
Ellerslie College was started by a Miss Davidson on the site sometime in 1886. The land and the original cottage building was owned by Henry Kemmis who had briefly run a school from 1871 to 1874 on the neighbouring property which had been previously been the home, known as Ellerslie House, of James Aitken a local merchant, and prior to that the Royal Archer Hotel.
William Lawson took over in 1892. Lawson bought the place the following year and continued to run it as a school until 1902 when Richard Lawson and William Oakley briefly occupied the place as part of the Warrnambool Academy until 1904.
Up until the early twentieth century public education only catered for students at a primary level. Secondary education was catered for only by private colleges. Most of these were denominational, financed and run under the influence of the various major Christian churches. However, as well as these denominational schools were a number of smaller private colleges that also provided boarding facilities that catered for the needs and aspirations of the middle classes, and in rural areas the children of local landowners.
Apart from being a private college the hall housed the first classrooms of the Warrnambool High School (then Warrnambool Agricultural High School) for some months in 1907 and from sometime in the 1920's was the home of the 3rd Warrnambool scout troop which had associations to the Toc H movement. The hall was also the location of the first Lutheran services in Warrnambool from 1933. The place is currently a residence.

Information is quoted from the Historic Environment Record for H BUILDING, Malvern, UK
The building, having military purposes and designated locally as H building, sits on a former Government Research site in Malvern, Worcestershire at Grid Ref SO 786 447. This site was the home of the Telecommunications Research Establishment (TRE) from 1946. It has been owned by QinetiQ since 2001 and is in the process (October 2017 to February 2018) of being sold for redevelopment.
This unique building has at its heart a ‘Rotor’ bunker with attached buildings to house radar screens and operators as well as plant such as emergency generators. Twenty nine Rotor operational underground bunkers were built in great urgency around Britain to modernise the national air defence network, following the Soviet nuclear test in 1949. Two factors make H building’s construction and purpose unique; this prototype is the only Rotor bunker built above ground and it was the home to National Air Defence government research for 30 years. This example of a ROTOR bunker is unique instead of being buried, it was built above ground to save time and expense, as it was not required to be below ground for its research purpose.
H Building was the prototype version of the Rotor project R4 Sector Operations Centre air defence bunkers. Construction began in August 1952 with great urgency - work went on 24 hours a day under arc lights. The main bunker is constructed from cross bonded engineering bricks to
form walls more than 2 feet thick in a rectangle approximately 65ft x 50ft. The two internal floors are suspended from the ceiling. The original surrounding buildings comprise, two radar control and operator rooms, offices and machine plant.
The building was in generally good order and complete. The internal layout of the bunker remains as originally designed. The internal surfaces and services have been maintained and modernised over the 55 years since its construction (Figure 3). The first floor has been closed over.
There are some later external building additions around the periphery to provide additional accommodation.
In parts of the building the suspended floor remains, with 1950s vintage fittings beneath such as patch panels and ventilation ducts.
The building has been empty since the Defence Science & Technology Laboratories [Dstl] moved out in October 2008
As lead for radar research, RRE was responsible for the design of both the replacement radars for the Chain Home radars and the command and control systems for UK National Air Defence.
Project Rotor was based around the Type 80 radar and Type 13 height finder. The first prototype type 80 was built at Malvern in 1953 code named Green Garlic. Live radar feeds against aircraft sorties, were fed into the building to carry out trials of new methods plotting and reporting air activity
A major upgrade of the UK radar network was planned in the late 1950s – Project ‘Linesman’ (military) / ‘Mediator’ (civil) – based around Type 84 / 85 primary radars and the HF200 height finder. A prototype type 85 radar (Blue Yeoman) was built adjacent to H Building in 1959. live radar returns were piped into H Building.
Subsequently a scheme to combine the military and civil radar networks was proposed. The building supported the research for the fully computerised air defence scheme known as Linesman, developed in the 1960s, and a more integrated and flexible system (United Kingdom Air Defence Ground Environment or UKADGE) in the 1970s.
The building was then used for various research purposes until the government relinquished the main site to QinetiQ in 2001. Government scientists continued to use the building until 2008. Throughout its life access was strictly controlled by a dedicated pass sytem.
Notable civil spin-offs from the research in this building include the invention of touch screens and the whole UK Civil Air Traffic Control system which set the standard for Europe.

Historic Environment Record for H BUILDING, Malvern, UK

Focus on Eldercare's response to COVID-19
At the purpose when the noxious impacts of COVID-19 showed first in Wuhan, the entire city and therefore the entire of Hubei Province ground to a halt. The lockdown of Wuhan brought remarkable torment and threatening difficulties for several individual occupants therein first focus. Presently, COVID-19 represents those equivalent difficulties for individuals and social welfare frameworks all-inclusive. Especially, it tests our aggregate endeavors to believe one another, particularly the foremost defenseless among us.
As a populace, individuals quite 70 will generally have more fragile insusceptible frameworks and progressively fundamental conditions that obstruct their capacity to battle the infection. They're likewise sure to dwell on bunch day to day environments, nearby people. Floods of COVID-19 passings in nursing homes — first within the Seattle territory, at that time on the brink of Sacramento and now during the country — have underscored this inauspicious reality. Up until now, Californians quite 65 have made up, at any rate, a fourth of the state's affirmed instances of COVID-19.
Be that because it may, guidelines, especially for helping living offices, are unsafely failing to satisfy the expectations in protecting California's older folks from this infection. Luck, Gov. Gavin Newsom's plan on Aging activity, as of now ongoing, presents an opportunity to forcefully address this peril and find how to secure an enormous number of more seasoned Americans.
Helped living focuses are an aid to the Eldercare business and therefore the enormous corporate proprietors that currently command the market. Simultaneously, in any case, an absence of guideline and oversight of staffing levels and capabilities — particularly prerequisites for on-location doctors and much prepared clinical experts — has left the business defenseless against misuse and unfortunate results. One glaring issue that has got to be tended to: helped living focuses are directed by the state Department of Social Services rather than the Department of Public Health.
In any case, it helped to measure maybe a piece of social welfare and clinical consideration conveyance framework, not only a direction for living. Propelled a year ago, Newsom's plan on Aging has framed a warning advisory group, is holding open gatherings and within the fall is planned to offer a 10-year plan which will address issues from lodging and vagrancy to crisis readiness to manhandle and disrespect. The venture has made a "Value Committee" to urge a contribution from a progressively differing gathering of residents and associations, including agents of the crippled network, Native Americans and other ethnic minorities.
Considering the spreading coronavirus general wellbeing emerging, it's basic that the representative's plan on Aging takes on an expansive and genuine open arrangement job. We weren't bothered with elevated level clichés for tending to the wants of the old. We'd like solid arrangements, solid guidelines with implementation teeth and a guarantee to continued oversight.
The Age of COVID-19
Older people who get themselves out of the blue alone without authority over their conditions are at specific hazards for an assortment of serious, even hazardous, physical and psychological well-being conditions, including a subjective decrease. Limitations on the opportunity of development ought to be proportionate and not founded solely on age.
COVID-19, as different irresistible melodies, represents a higher hazard to populaces that live in nearness. This hazard is especially intense in nursing or matured consideration offices, where the infection can spread quickly and has just brought about numerous passings. About 1.5 million older people individuals live in the nursing homes in the US, barring helped living offices and different settings making nearness.
Twenty-three individuals kicked the bucket in a flare-up at an office in Washington State in February and March, and the US Centers for Disease Control detailed 400 additional cases in offices as of April 1. On March 31, wellbeing experts in the Grand East district of France detailed 570 passings of older people in nursing homes.
Older people often end up in nursing homes due to governments' inability to offer adequate social types of assistance for individuals to live freely in the network, approaches that have put millions at included danger of getting the infection as a result of their organization. Governments ought to guarantee the progression of network-based administrations with the goal that individuals don't wind up in organizations without different alternatives.
Expound now on the roles played via care laborers in continuing the lives of the old during that emergency, and who, however dreadful themselves, by and by remain day in and outing inside the bounds of their wards to offer fundamental consideration.
Care supervisor Chang, the woman in charge of the consideration laborers among whom I led my hands-on work, coordinated the change of her ward into a self-sufficient fixed of a unit of care. The passage to her floor is carefully monitored; just fundamental conveyances are permitted, for instance, nourishment and clothing. Since nobody can enter or leave the structure, the flask for the older was transformed into a dozing region for care laborers. Despite the very fact that a lot of consideration laborers have their circle of relatives to require care of, they put that piece of their life under the control of others. Care specialist Lin, whose spouse died at the start of the pandemic, did not have the chance to completely grieve his passing due to incessant understaffing at Sunlight. She came back to figure following the burial service, despite realizing that she not, at now expected to figure at Sunlight to hide her significant other's clinical costs. Lin's arrival says much regarding her promise to her calling, to her colleagues, and to the old she had come to understand so well. My examination with care laborers recommends that it's an enthusiastic association and an awareness of other's expectations that propels them to remain the end of the day in care work. This is often borne out immediately.
Carefully add China is often seen as being grimy and unfortunate, thanks to an excellent extension to its nearby hook up with the realistic consideration required by slight, skilled bodies. Chinese consideration laborers are for the foremost part provincial to urban transients or urban specialists laid far away from previous state-claimed processing plants. In any case, direct consideration is intricate. In any case, its unpredictability goes unrecognized, or maybe disregarded by institutional powers that organize benefits and generalize the old as bodies to chip away at, to the disregard of their social-passionate necessities. As is valid with Sunlight, things which might typically undermine the keenness of care laborers, for instance, the absence of institutional acknowledgment for his or her enthusiastic work, are required to be postponed. Care specialists are currently centered around a shared objective: ensuring the gift assistance of the older. COVID-19 propels care laborers to consider what kind of care is required and the way to offer that care. It fills in as a channel through which the elemental beliefs of care are observed. Care is about common human weakness and our intrinsic association. Care laborers at Sunlight, in their aggregate every minute of everyday endeavors to secure the older, typify this ethic through their consideration. May the respectful regard, they hold of the older in their consideration redound on them and everyone consideration laborers overall who are fighting this pandemic on the bleeding edge!
Like the consideration laborers at Sunlight, the laborers in numerous nations are regarded human life so that we cannot be embarrassed to return clean with the leading edge about ourselves. Salute the spearheading staff who salutes our purposeful endeavors to handle the pandemic in numerous settings around the globe, within the daylight, yet additionally to ensure that veterans are appropriately treated, took care of and washed.
We all hope and pray that the coronavirus will soon be controlled and subdued. And that when the crisis is behind us, that we continue the important work of protecting the elderly and other vulnerable segments of our citizenry.

The amazing sight of the virtually complete "Vasa" in it's purpose built museum at Stockholm, June 2010. Like stepping back in time. Gustavus Adolphus's Folly, the Vasa was intended to be a prestige flagship ship-of-war of King Gustav II Adolf (which for some bizarre reason we know under his Latinised name) of Sweden, who thought himself as a successor of the Roman Emperors. He brought Dutch shipwrights to Stockholm to build the Vasa, but his constant interference with the design of the ship resulted in an unstable and over-gunned ship. As a result, on her maiden voyage in 1638, the 1,200 tonnes Vasa, watched by the King and the Stockholm residents as she departed the harbour, capsized in a gust of wind as water poured into the open gun ports of the lower deck. The low salt content and cold temperatures of the Baltic, plus the heavily polluted waters of Stockholm Harbour until modern times, meant the Toredo Worm was absent. Coupled with the mud that buried her, this meant that the Vasa was preserved in the mud on the harbour floor until raised in 1959-61 - it took that long to raise her!
The ship had a displacement of 1,210 tons and was armed with 66 guns:48x24 pdrs on lower and upper gun decks, 8x3 pdrs and 6 howitzers.
Purpose-built and opened in May 1929.
By 1935 it was listed as having 528 seats.
Independently run until closure in 1959.
Not very photogenic now that most of the front has been demolished.
Even the ceiling has been stripped off.
The shop on the left was the "Tuck Shop".

Purpose built for air racing, Tsunami resembled a P-51 but was smaller and cleaner. It competed at the Reno Air Races in 1988 flown by Steve Hinton, placing third at an average speed of 429.94 mph in the Unlimited Gold Race on 9/18/88. It's qualifying speed on 9/12/88 for that race was 470.89 mph, second fastest behind Rare Bear at 474.62 mph. It crashed in Pierre, South Dakota on September 25, 1991 due to a flap malfunction killing owner John Sandberg. Tsunami is being rebuilt.

The Mercedes-Benz W187 is a luxury car produced by Mercedes-Benz from 1951 to 1955. Introduced at the Frankfurt Motor Show in April 1951, the W187 was powered by a single overhead camshaft inline six-cylinder M180 engine and available as a saloon, coupé, and cabriolet, all designated with the 220 model name. Despite its pre-World War II reputation as a manufacturer of luxury cars, in the immediate post-war years Mercedes-Benz produced only four-cylinder-engined passenger cars. The W187 Mercedes-Benz 220 and flagship W186 Mercedes-Benz 300 Adenauer introduced together in 1951 were the first Mercedes to once again feature six-cylinder engines.
The styling was similar to that of the Mercedes-Benz 170S except that the 170's freestanding headlights were for the 220 integrated into the fenders for a slightly more modern look. Two different cabriolet models were built, conceived as exclusive sporting cars of exclusive character, but these only sold 1,278 and 997 for the "A" (2-door, 2/3-seat) and "B" (2-door, 4-seat) versions, respectively.
In December 1953, just as the saloon and cabriolet "B" models were about to be replaced, a "Cabriolet A" derived W187 Coupé was announced for 1954. The Mercedes-Benz sales department let it be known that this development was a direct response to pressing requests from leading celebrities of the time.
During 1953 the manufacturer replaced the conventionally flat windscreen on the 2/3 seater "Cabriolet A" with a slightly curved screen, which also found its way on to the new coupé: this was a way of highlighting the sporting nature of both models. Nevertheless, the coupé once fitted, as many were, with a steel sunroof, was at the end of 1953 offered for 22,000 Marks which was nearly twice the price for the standard W187 "Limousine", and only 85 of the W187 coupés were actually sold. Between August 1952 and May 1953, 41 special soft top "OTP" bodied W187 220s were produced for the police.
All 220s used newly developed M180 six cylinder 2195cc engine producing 80 hp DIN (86 SAE) (59 kW). In contrast with the rather old fashioned look of the car's body, the new engines attracted much attention in the motoring press, being the first new engine presented by Mercedes-Benz in more than ten years.
The valves were operated by short rocker arms from an overhead camshaft. The engine was unusual in Europe at this time in having oversquare cylinder dimensions with a bore of 80.0mm and a stroke of only 72.8mm, which facilitated the design of an efficient cylinder head. The manufacturer claimed a top speed of 140 km/h (87 mph) for the saloons and 145 km/h (90 mph) for the cabriolets which was faster than the 52 PS (38 kW) powered 170S Cabriolet which the cabriolet version of the W187 replaced and from which its bodywork was derived. The new six-cylinder engine would form the basis, repeatedly enlarged and upgraded as the years went on, for a long line of six-cylinder engines powering mainstream Mercedes-Benz models including the six-cylinder version of the early S-Class models in the 1970s. Because of the extra power in what was, by modern standards, a heavy car, the W187 was equipped with Duplex drum brakes.
With the sedan/saloon bodied cars about to be delisted by the manufacturer in May 1954, in April 1954 the "Cabriolet A" and its Coupé derivative were fitted with a new higher compression 85 PS (63 kW) engine that had been developed for the soon to be announced Ponton bodied Mercedes-Benz W180. These faster sporting versions of the W187 continued in production for a further year. The 220 saloon was replaced by the W105/W180 line in 1953. The coupé and cabriolet continued until August 1955.
The saloon went out of production in May, 1954; the Cabriolet models continued for another 15 months until August 1955. The body of the W187 saloon was closely modelled on the 1938 Mercedes-Benz W153, and despite the modern engine that powered it, already looked old fashioned to many observers on the day it was introduced. Two years earlier, in 1949, the Borgward Hansa had served notice that car design had moved on since the 1930s, and the manufacturer's own 1953 W120 confirmed that "modern" European cars were following the North American trend to lower wider bodied designs. This has been seen as an explanation for the W187's own unusually short production run of slightly above three years for the saloon and less than five years for the longest lived of the Cabriolet models.
The W187 was immediately replaced with the Ponton bodied six cylinder Mercedes-Benz 220a (W180). When the cabriolet was withdrawn in 1955 there was no direct successor. However, slightly more than a year later the all-new Mercedes-Benz 220S Cabriolet and Coupé appeared, respectively in July and October 1956, using, like the saloon on which they were based, a modern ponton style body.
Australia's first purpose built government office - a home for the Colonial Treasury
Notes from the NSW Treasury website:
"New South Wales's Colonial Treasury Department was established on the 28 April 1824 and was located at the official residence of the first Colonial Treasurer, Mr William Balcombe. Balcombe's private quarters and the Treasury office were housed under the one roof, his wife and children upstairs, the government transactions attended to below. The Treasury building, located on the western corner of Bent and O'Connell Streets Sydney had been built by convict labour for William Cox the Paymaster of the 102nd Regiment just prior to Balcombe's arrival in the Colony.
"The security at O'Connell Street was not considered adequate and in May 1827 the Treasury was directed to move to a building within the Barrack Walls at Barrack Square where the security arrangements were considered more adequate for safeguarding the Civil and Military money of the Government.
"Over the following decades the Colonial Treasury was relocated on a number of occasions for reasons of either security or financial expediency. The Department remained, however, close to the Governor's domain, the precincts of Parliament House, the Colonial Secretary and later the Premier.
"In 1840 the Colonial Treasury together with the Auditor General's Office occupied the dilapidated residence of an earlier Colonial Secretary Mr Alexander McLeay The building occupied land that stood between the sites of the future Lands and Education Departments and soon to be demolished to make way for the dedication of Loftus Street.
"The new Colonial Treasury building in Macquarie Street, commenced in 1849, was the first purpose-built government office in Sydney. This elegant sandstone building with slate roof was designed by the Colonial Architect Mortimer William Lewis and was sited on land which had been part of the Governor's Domain, his vineyard.
"The Treasury building opened for the transaction of business on the 17 October 1851 having been completed by Edmund Blacket and was shared with the Audit Office. The Treasury entrance was on Macquarie Street, the Audit Office entered from Bridge Street.
"The old Treasury Building, 117-119 Macquarie Street, Sydney now forms part of the Inter-Continental Hotel. Heritage architects have described the building as having 'fine Georgian elevations of exceptional scale, proportion and detailing' contributing 'greatly to the sandstone townscape aesthetic of the Government precinct as well as being an excellent example of the craft work of its period".
The purpose of this project was to create the best Samus Aran model possible, focusing mainly on getting the shoulders right. I'd seen the rebel helmets used once before, but they were glued onto a mini-figure. I wanted to do it right (not that custom pieces are necessarily "wrong"). Since I was using rebel helmets, there was no way I could make it the right color scheme, so I decided to make it a robotic Samus.
I have some problems with it: (1) The arms can move only in one dimension at the elbows. (2)The feet are blocky and lame. (3) The legs are too long to be Samus.
This uses the BrickFa structure.
