We found this Coyote pup along a road a mile from our home.
It was pretty shy so I had to settle for this long shot, which I had to crop heavily to show the pup.
The Sopwith Pup was a British single seater biplane fighter aircraft built by the Sopwith Aviation Company. It entered service with the Royal Flying Corps and the Royal Naval Air Service in the fall of 1916. With pleasant flying characteristics and good manoeuvrability, the aircraft proved very successful. The Pup was eventually outclassed by newer German fighters, but it was not completely replaced on the Western Front until the end of 1917. Remaining Pups were relegated to Home Defence and training units. The Pup's docile flying characteristics also made it ideal for use in aircraft carrier deck landing and take-off experiments.
The Pup was officially named the Sopwith Scout. The "Pup" nickname arose because pilots considered it to be the "pup" of the larger two-seat Sopwith 1½ Strutter. The name never had official status as it was felt to be "undignified", but a precedent was set, and all later Sopwith types apart from the triplane acquired names of mammals or birds (Camel, Dolphin, Snipe etc.), which ended up with the Sopwith firm being said to have created a "flying zoo" during the First World War.

The Sopwith Pup ranks as one of the truly great combat aircraft of World War I. Some have called it the most perfect flying machine ever made. Regardless, the Pup was undeniably a docile and enjoyable airplane to fly. A true pursuit, the Pup was capable of competing one-on-one with any combat aircraft in the sky at the time of its debut during the spring of 1916. It proved so effective against German aircraft that German pilots consciously avoided confrontations with it until the advent of more capable German pursuits. By the end of 1917, the Pup's advantage had been offset by newer designs. It was quickly phased out as more aircraft became available.
The Pup was equipped with a single fixed, synchronized Vickers machine gun mounted on top of the forward fuselage, ahead of the cockpit.
This 1916 full-size replica was made by W. Petrone of Ames, Iowa in 1972. It is on loan from the National Museum of the Air Force.

The pup's name is Breeza; I didn't catch the gentleman's name. His old dalmatian passed on about the same time mine did. He thought that nothing would ever replace her, until he found a young Dalmatian pup in a pet shop in Windhoek. She got her name because she's a new breeze in his life.
There seems to be something in my eye as I write this.

Unable to sleep, so I decided to go over some older pup pics that orignally never made the cut when I was trying to stay under 300 pics. Some of these are good, others are just cute, but they are all Pup, so Pup says they are all treasues. Lol.
Basically how I spend everyday. Sitting at my computer editing pictures with Frankie. Notice the blue streak in her right eye, half of her eye is actually blue. Kinda crazy.
Most canine pups will lick at an adult's mouth, trying to elicit the regurgitation reflex for food. At least my fairly primitive Samoyeds will do this as pups. 9 little babies and their mommy came in to the shelter on Wednesday. They are about 6 weeks. These are 3 of the girls and 1 of the boys.
This little coyote pup has been cruising around a friend's place in JT Highlands. He is the lone survivor from a litter of about 4 pups. Mom isn't nurturing him too well. He is curious and seems to exhibit little fear of humans with cameras shooting away at him. I pray for his survival...an endearing little creature.(Note: This little one, sadly, did not make it.....)

So proud of this kid! Led Pup and her Daisy Scout troop on an adventure today... they all earned their "How To Make The World A Better Place Through Nature" badges and all became official Coyote Adventurers! Everyone got to pet a Snapping Turtle and see Wild Turkeys! Id say it was a successful adventure :)
