Operation Pets Alive!, a non-profit 501(c)3 organization based in The Woodlands, TX, has overseen the selection, vetting and transport of nearly 400 dogs, including dozens of long-term (90-days or more) animals from the Montgomery County Texas Animal Shelter. Fundraising for this important project--which has provided new chances for animals, and much-needed space in an over-crowded open-admissions Shelter--is an on-going project. Check our website at operationpetsalive.org for ways you can help.

Press L to see the above image with the best presentation. I would also recommend using a good quality (and ideally callibrated) monitor, so that you get to see something approximating what I saw when preparing this image.

This image is from my 2012 Project 365 - please check out the entire set and I welcome encouraging comments as well as constructive critique. Also feel free to explore my personal favourites from my overall photostream. Please ensure your comments are text only - I'd appreciate no images, logos or excessive decoration.

Three small coyote pups playing outside their den in the Blacktail Deer Plateau in Yellowstone. They were not bothered in the least by the freezing cold wind and sideways snow. Happily they scampered, tumbled, and wrestled each other on the hillside.

It's that time of year again, the Grey seals are popping out pup all over the place. This is quite a rare sight to see 2 together like this, infact, there was 4 white coat pups in the same cove.

CACTUS PUP : put us down now !

Pupal mating in Heliconius erato:

The copulation taking place while the female butterfly emerges and she is still not able to fly away.

Pup was turned into the shelter by his owner, because they were moving and couldn't take him with them. I'm sorry, but I think that is a lousy excuse. When Carl and I moved from Florida, we brought 2 bigs dogs and a cockatoo with us all the way to Indiana. It wasn't easy, but we eventually found an apartment that would allow us to keep pets.

Anyway, Pup lived with me at the same time I had Hooch, the puppy. Pup was so scared and shy, I'm convinced that his former owners yelled or even hit him alot. It took days for him to trust me, but once he did, he was the most loving dog. He never left my side. Pup eventually went to Rover Rescue near Chicago and found a permanent home.
