From some fox photos I took in 2012 but never posted this one.
This pup was from a litter under a shed in the neighbourhood.
Some people touch your heart, other ones hold it for you... That's the pups... he have the skill to always make me feel that we are in the right place with the right person. I care about this kiddo ♥
Grey Seal Pups born black are fairly rare. Approximately only 1 in every 400 are born this colour as opposed to the usual white so I feel very privileged to have seen one.
Many thanks to everyone that views and comments on my images - very much appreciated.
A trip back into the archives for this picture of Willow and Schaefer back in 2018. Taken by the railway tracks used once a week by the heritage railway, which have previously featured on this blog with my Canon. I am not sure, in all honesty, whether I took this picture or Samuel did. We did a bit of photography there around that time. I like the colours, which from memory would not have been particularly 'processed'. Schaefer probably also likes the colours, given there is a lot less grey in his coat than these days.
It seems strange not heading off to the coast to see the seal pups, but sadly this year it isn't to be. Fingers crossed for next year.
Brave scout
After the pups spotted me and vanished into the Willow thicket, I circled around to the other side. Perhaps they came out on that side. No luck with that. Once again I returned to the original spot. Initially there were no pups in sight. Then, after about 10 minutes, this brave pup poked his head out and came into the open. He saw me right away. It was time to give them a rest. I turned walked away.

Herbie enjoying a short rest
Yesterday evening me, Tracey, and Herb had a walk around Towneley park.
Of course Herb did a lot of running about, so here he is having a 10 second speed rest 😀
The day had started off wet, and then became dry but very windy. Not many people were in the park at all… very enjoyable!

Next to last in my young wildlife series is this shot of four Black-tailed Prairie Dog pups on alert atop their burrow mound. If a serious threat had developed, they would have disappeared into the burrow in about one second. But they soon relaxed and returned to grazing on the nice green spring grass.

'Melissa' - JIAN - Pupper Parlor :: 16. Silver Bow Held Yorkie
Tipping the scales at no more than 12 pounds, this humanlike toy of complex character has enough personality for 10 ordinary dogs. A sensitive companion for discerning grownups, the Brussels Griffon is smart, devoted, and comically self-important.
Four Timber Wolf pups are roughhousing at the den (the nose and an ear are all that can be seen in one case).
There were reports of them which I didn't believe since in the last 25 yrs I have not seen one here. I was proven wrong and saw mom with two young pups. Isle Lake Alberta. Happy Canada Day!
My photagraphy has really opened new worlds for me! What started out as something to do during Covid has become a passion for delving into the wilds surrounding Boulder, Colorado. Because of the City of Boulder Open Space & Mountain Parks established in the early 70's, large tracts of surrounding land were set aside and protected as a habitat for many of the the native vegetation, insect and animal lives. I seem to find something new every time I go out and yesterday met up with this cute coyote pup! We eyed each other for a while before he slinked off into his den. How cool is that!?
An adorable Elephant Seal pup rested on the beach with a group of other pups. I fell in love with those big dark eyes.
Eastern Gray Squirrel pup (a.k.a. Gray Squirrel; Sciurus carolinensis carolinensis) awaiting rescue on tthe Bitter Aloe (a.k.a. Red Aloe, Cape Aloe; Aloe ferox) in my garden - The Space Coast of Florida
The Red-shoulder Hawks have been making a ruckus in the neighborhood lately, and this guy winding up in the Bitter Aloe
is likely a result of their activities.
It wasn't there an hour later,
so it was either rescued by it's parents,
or all it's problems are over.
On my visit to see the Seals at Ravenscar I took so many shots which sit on a hard drive doing nothing.
Two of the three coyote pups vie for Mom's attention. She seemed to have her paws full. From a beautiful early morning encounter a few years ago. Happy Mothers Day!
Grey Seal - Halichoerus grypus
Every year, and at this time of year, grey seals come ashore at Donna Nook on the Lincolnshire coast to give birth, and to mate. Around 2,000 pups are born here each year.
The total number of pups born this year (2023) was 2,205 with the last pup being born on 21 December.
I've just spent a fun few days in Norfolk watchng these adorable seal pups. This one had to be my favourite though, the face just reminds me of a pug. We were blessed with some great weather, 2 days of cloud and 2 of mostly sunshine with glorious sunrises and sunsets. Here the sun is just starting to sink behind the dunes giving this pup a golden glow!
Just in case you are wondering I was using a really long lens so I didn't disturb the seals and always made sure I didn't cut off their escape route to the sea. This one was taken at 1000mm full frame equivalent.
Looks like a seal pup that's no more than a day or two old. They grow fast, nursing on milk that's 50% fat.

Donna Nook, Lincolnshire Wildlife Trust managed site.
Today's numbers as reported by Lincolnshire Wildlife Trust
1607 pups, 1568 cows and 404 bulls (24/11/2023)
The pups are born at around 14 kg. They are born in autumn (October to November) with a dense, soft silky white fur; at first small, they rapidly fatten up on their mothers' extremely fat-rich milk. The milk can consist of up to 60% fat. Within a month or so they shed the pup fur, grow dense waterproof adult fur, and leave for the sea to learn to fish for themselves
