Photo by Mitch Rohse, BLM volunteer wildlife photographer, May 2021.
From the photographer: "While murres are dodging eagles on the rocky islets near Yaquina Head, a very different drama is playing out in the cove just south of the lighthouse. For the resident Harbor Seal colony there, May is the month when pregnant seals deliver their pups. Go there at low tide and watch the fresh new pups clamber around on the rocks, suckle, or nap with mom: you’ll have hard time not saying 'Awwwww.'"

We found him running out of the woods in a light rain on 4-15-2006. He was about 8 weeks old and we looked for the owners and being with us for 12 years tells the rest of the story. We will miss him and he was a great pal.
