With a crew having just arrived to begin their work at Grand Island, an SD40-2 pair idles along a trackside puddle.

I spent the whole night in Venice and i've realized how much important is a puddle.First of all in San Marco square.

Not the normal way to moore ones boat.

Thought this sitting in a puddle would be worth the heading.

This evening I took a walkabout with a very wide 14mm lens on the hunt for puddles with this type of shot in mind. It's not easy timing the shot so that no-one is stood in the way!

Reflection in a puddle

Near The Mint, Leeds

Flippy screen in use again

I was photographing this puddle in the path as Jim kept walking. He reflected in another smaller puddle, and I found it was more interesting when I rotated the photo 180 degrees.

Used the polarizer to get less reflection from the wet grass and leaves, but no matter how I turned the polarizer, there was always something blown out. Shows I still don't have enough experience with the filter. I ended up making this an HDR with the polarizer only being used for nice colours. Not completely happy about the sharpness.

As she's nearly 14, Kizzie can't walk far. We took her up the downs to give her a sniff of forest air. She immediately headed for a huge puddle and just lay down! The camera's also captured the classic photo of water droplet hitting surface of water!

Saturday Self Challenge: Liquid

With overnight rain and a maximum of 11 degrees its beginning to feel like winter! Taken at a dairy farm in the Adelaide HIlls, South Australia, where my nephew now manages the farm of 100 cows. When I was a child dairying was the main industry - now only a few farms remain as vineyards and urbanization take over.

I don't even remember what this one started as :)))

Sunset and puddle in the rain at Follingsby disused rail sidings, Gateshead, north east UK.

The rain is really falling today - puddles all around, Burlington, NC

I didn't know that rain made bubbles as big as this one until I started observing things through my camera lens. I find all kinds of things in that lens. I like the reflections in it.

I will be in and out all day.

'Puddle' had been very ill with a lung disease when she arrived at The British Birds of Prey Centre and the staff there have tended to her for a number of years. Their hard work paid off and just recently they started to fly her. Admittedly not the best shot but a joy to see.

First outing for a new go go gadget rice bag. Same rice (mostly). New bag. Last one got punctured on the Royal Crescent railings. Messy.

I have posted photos of the puddle at the end of my driveway before, but it has been buried under snow and ice for the last few months. As spring approaches, the puddle has reappeared and goes through freeze - thaw cycles every night. Nearly every morning I can find new ice patterns for photos.

Nearly every winter I take photos of the puddle at the end of my driveway after it freezes. There are nearly always interesting shapes and colors in the ice. This is probably a half inch of muddy water transformed by temperatures below zero F.

Maybe I should start a "puddle variations" album similar to Jerry Gladstone's "tidal pool" album.

A puddle of water was on the road that turned to a muddy color as the tires went through, a quick stop and camera in hand, a photo of the reflected sky to be taken. A wait for the ripples to calm and this shot was taken. The bubbles are just that as they had formed from the rude agitation of the tires that had just passed through. Taken while meandering off the pavement in the Sierra’s.

On a very wet night at Preston 92043 was undergoing a crew change before departing with the 1S25 2115 London Euston to Inverness / Fort William and Aberdeen Caledonian sleeper service all 14 coaches of it.

The deep reflection was captured in a rain puddle and i had to get down very low for the shot with no guarantee i would be able to get back up again. The curious look from the offgoing driver was priceless.
