The night before had been my birthday and we had gone to a pub with an authentic Irish band (and crowd). It was wild and just about what I expected for an Irish Pub. The next day we at lunch at the Danny Mann pub and it was pretty good, not to mention they would have an Irish band again that evening! Cha-Ching! We suggested and the group agreed to eat dinner there that night. Yeah... We ate twice in one day at the same restaurant but it was still pretty good.
What I will say about the place is that while the pub we went to on my birthday was more of what I expect for an Irish pub. This was more on the tourist side. Nothing wrong with that as the music was still good. It was just a lot larger and I think there was a bus load of people here that night.
Ohhh and how could I forget that this was the start of the legend of the Irish desert called Bonafie!! I think a few days before someone in the group had some of this desert and talked it up. At Danny Mann I think anyone who could still fit food in their stomach had some and it was "grand" to quote the Irish. After this night it seemed like most everyone wanted to order some.
My three most favorite non-family-members ever, all in one place! :-) The stars somehow aligned, Greyhounds came from LA, and large jetliners came from Hong Kong, and Kaolin, John, and Joel all magically ended up at pub trivia night. I don't think we did very well, but was SO MUCH FUN. :-)
Lacock village, a sign of the Times, modern Times a public house for sale. A common sight today in most English towns and villages a deserted pub. Low priced alcohol in supermarkets and the no smoking laws are blamed for the demise of the English Pub.
An impressive set of beer pump clips covers the ceiling of this pub, usually a sign of a place that cares for what it sells. However, the person before me at the bar is invariably buying Carling...

I'm continually on the look out for the weird and wonderful. Back in the summer a friend told me about a pub in Eastbourne that went 'slightly' overboard when it came to Christmas decorations. The time had now come to investigate...I was NOT disappointed.

Following the narrow lanes out from Penn into Staffordshire, the thirsty traveller potentially has a treat in store as they reach the Barley Mow pub adjacent to Penn Golf Club. Real ales and good food are the order of the day here and you can potentially enjoy a stroll across Penn Common too - just mind your head on the low front door!
A sad day for the local community came when the Stag was demolished. The landmark pub stood on the corner of Field Road and Victoria Avenue and has since been replaced with new housing. This May 2006 shot shows the site before construction started, the stanchion for the old pub sign looking very forlorn.
Interesting decoration on the outside of this pub. The half-timbered gable suggests that it dates back to the late 19th or early 20th century, when the mock-Tudor look was popular in this part of the world.

Taormina is a comune and small town on the east coast of the island of Sicily, Italy, in the Province of Messina, about midway between Messina and Catania. Taormina has been a very popular tourist destination since the 19th century. It has popular beaches (accessible via an aerial tramway) on the Ionian sea, which is remarkably warm and has a high salt content. Taormina can be reached via highways from Messina from the north and Catania .Just south of Taormina is the Isola Bella, a nature reserve. Tours of the Capo Sant' Andrea grottos are also available. Taormina is built on an extremely hilly coast, and is approximately a forty-five minute drive away from Europe's largest active volcano, Mount Etna.A stay at Taormina is not just a seaside vacation. This area, rich in charm and history, must be experienced in a spirit that is outside the ordinary, and for one simple reason: here, everything is extraordinary. Every stone is a thousand-year-old piece of history, the glorious sea reflects Taormina's beauty, as it shapes and marks the passage of time, and the places that enchanted the Greeks create to this day a vibrant and exciting ambiance. But trying to describe in words what makes Taormina unique is truly difficult.
