(049/365) Nice & cosy last Sunday inside our favourite pub which happens to be called "The Local" although I think "The Churn and Pram" would be a good alternative pub name. It's in a converted stable block in the grounds of Dunbrody Country House Hotel. HWW & HSS!

YE OLDE KINGS HEAD // SANTA MONICA, CA
I masking taped half the lens to do this flip, trying to make the King mural look like a playing card. The lines are just off by a little, but you can see what I was going for.
This pub on Santa Monica Blvd used to be called Turkey Joint West back in the 1960's, and was actually the location where Jim Morrison, for the very first time, sang with a band and performed onstage. He was called up to sing "Louie, Louie" with Ray Manzarek's band Rick and the Ravens.
Get the full story straight from Ray's book "Light My Fire" on another of my Ye Olde Kings Head/Turkey Joint West posts HERE
We did this in the local Pub in Gourin, with a cobra flash at a 45° angle covered by a small boxlight
This remote pub was located in a hamlet called Elverton, between Teynham and Faversham, Kent.
It was a classic basic alehouse which served Fremlins bitter on gravity. Since the beer was in the cellar the elderly licencee got a lot of exercise walking up and down the stairs. He retired not long after I took this picture in January 1993 and the pub shut. There may once have been a sitting room at the front, but when I knew it the accommodation was in a small room at the back, the door of which you can see.
Mo Chara (my friend in Irish) is Dundalk's coolest pub.
Having been The Century for at least a century, it has been taken over by three young guys.
Through clever branding and use of social media and providing good service, they have established it as the hip place for young people to go.
I'm much too old to venture in after dark so met a friend there for lunch and can confirm they do a mean toastie.
Pubs and Restaurants around East Yorkshire and the East Riding starting in Beverley near North Bar some will be in the Yorkshire Wolds.
This art deco building was built to house the offices of the Shakespeare Company. The company was founded by a man named William Shakespeare Jr. It produced fishing equipment. In 1970 the offices moved to Columbia, SC but the factory (on the right) stayed in use until 1989.
Today this building is called Shakespeare's Pub
The chains holding up the sign for the Prospect of Whitby pub in Wapping, London's oldest riverside pub, dating back to 1520.
In a dark pub in Oslo during this year holiday travels I played with the Nikon Z fc learning its controls. It had got little attention being in shadow of the monochrome Leica but now that camera was back home. Just a test shot but I like it, particular I like the color tones in it.
About 26 of us attended a paint & drink night at this pub on York St. in Ottawa's downtown Byward Market! It was lots of fun, I'll post my painting soon to show you!
Uncovered this lovely signage and tiling. Don't suppose it will be around for too long, probably re emerge as a fried chicken joint or something...

Thanks to Rob Sargent below for this update of its future;
An update from the new owners is on beerintheevening.com:
'Having stripped off the strange concrete that had been plastered over the front of this fine old Victorian pub we discovered the original signage and that meant the name really had to be the Tiger. Windows are being made at the moment and it really will restore a small corner of Camberwell to its former glory. The Tiger, (Silver Buckle as was), will reopen mid-February as a proper old fashioned pub'.
I had to get this up before I was accused of uploading photos out of season! Not that my photos are ever really current, I am always dragging my feet.
One of the most picturesque, popular and famous pubs in Brisbane is the Regatta at Toowong. Suitably, it sits on the very busy Coronation Drive which parallels the Brisbane River out of town to the inner western suburbs. It's quite a difficult pub to get a broad view of because of the volume of traffic and the fact that the traffic lights there are always slowing or stopping cars make getting a clear shot almost impossible even at midnight!
So I took the corner of the side street and got the fine Jacaranda in shot. The iconic trees and their purple flowers are now on their very last flowering legs for the year replaced as always by the red Poinciana trees.
The hotel is superb, notice the beautiful wrought iron balustrades. It was a mid Sunday morning and breakfast was in full flight, perhaps brunch.
The keen eyed will notice behind the tree and on top of the building right above the corner, a little man in a black suit with a funny hat with four X's on it like this XXXX. For those not in the know this is Mr. Fourex, iconic symbol of what was the Castlemaine Perkins Brewing Company which made and continues to do so Queensland's most famous beer - naturally XXXX. In fact, as the crow flies, the brewery is just down the road where it has always been.
Here is some further reading if you are interested.
Longtime public house, The Square Pub closed in early March, for reasons other than the coronavirus. Its red door is now inscribed with farewells.

This Dennis Dart, Stagecoach 34592 (KP04 GZM) is seen at the end of Barby Lane, passing The Wheatsheaf on the Green, in Braunston. This is doing route 12 from Rugby to Daventry, which now serves the new Monksmoor Estate. This service is now rerouted via Dirft, Kilsby, and Barby, and no longer gets to Braunston via the A45, so this shot was not previously possible. Good news on the pub front too, as the miserable landlord that 'ran' the establishment over the last few years has now left, although sadly taking the outdoor tables with him! I hope the new owner does well, if he smiles just the once, it will at least be an improvement!
