A long-standing venue, this place will forever be known to my partner and me as the boxing bar due to the mural featuring pugilists along one wall, some of whom are visible in this shot.
If you look VERY closely in the background (the flash did not quite reach this far) you will see a five piece band (The Shamrocks) playing traditional Irish music. After eating dinner, we head through several rooms to get to the pub part of T&H Doolans.
Whilst drinking in celebration of Mark passing his viva I speculated that this was a rather good view from a pub. Well, apart from the police van and the reflection of the fruit machines!
Pub quiz tonight, not as successful as last week, we we're joint first but was beaten at the tie-breaker question!
I like how this came out, the pub is a proper pub with a pub type decor and this is the coverings on the seats. It almost looks like a drawing!
Ettamogah Pub - The Ettamogah Pub is a cartoon pub that was featured in the now defunct Australasian Post magazine.

The former Mountain Air has been a private dwelling for many hears now. I have many happy childhood memories of walks up the mountain with my brother and parents, sitting in the garden in front of the pub drinking pop through a straw from a bottle, and scoffing Smith’s crisps with the blue twist of salt in the packet; the drone of drunken wasps issuing from wooden crates of empty beer bottles - halcyon days!
The structure to the left of the gate was the men’s open urinal, often very smelly in hot weather!
It's called that because Mother Shipton prophesied that the world would end when the bridge (just behind the camera in this picture) collapsed for the third time. It's already collapsed twice.

"All items of value have been removed." Including the staff and the scrumptious pub lunch ingredients, the thought of which kept me walking all morning...
Taken on a Friday night at the Wenlock Arms - a fine local's pub near Old Street. A jazz trio will come along on a Friday night.
Dear Editor
I attach some photographs from the event I held at the weekend to mark the 65th Anniversary of D-Day, which was an amazing success.

A further story will be on the local paper website shortly. We made the front page of the printed edition yesterday.
The event was attended by many veterans and also many young people, some even dressed up as evacuees. So much knowlegde was passed on. The Imperial War Museum sent representatives along to document the stories of some veterans.
We only raised about £300 to be split between the British Red Cross, British Legion Poppy Appeal and Help for a Hero, but the memories and friendships developed during the weekend are priceless.
I hope you find this of interest and if you would like any more information please do not hesitate to contact me.
Kind Regards
Sandy Warden
