Spotted a large group of war protesters on my way to Borders (24th st and Camelback) on Saturday. They all like that area because its upscale and there is easy paring. Funny how many had 'no war for oil' signs and yet the parking lots were full to the brim with SUVs.

Over 200 people protests in Birmingham today against the Tory budget. Protesters included public service users and workers alike. Protesters brought their children and the rally grew as a result of public interest.
Pensioners, students, refugees and community campaigns representing the most vulnerable people in society who will be affected by the cuts were at the forefront of the protest. Workers turned out from all over the public and private sector with large delegations. UCU who are striking to protect education provision at City College, UNISON local government workers who under the Birmingham Con-Dem council are facing massive redundancies and closures to librarys, childrens nurseries, elderly peoples homes and leisure centres, PCS facing massive cuts in civil services, NUT and Anti – Academies Alliance fighting back over the government’s proposals to privatise education.
Speakers from the Trades Council, UNISON, PCS, UCU, NUT, GMB, Right to Work, the Pensioners Association and the People’s Charter attacked the massive injustice in the budget – the rally represented a coalition of resistance around right to work, the peoples charter, Save Our Services and public services not for profit. We will now be preparing for the Tory party conference here in October and invite the rest of the UK to join us in disgust at what could be the biggest single attack on working class people since the great depression.

There were great signs: "Focus on YOUR OWN family!" "I have a dream too!" "When do we get to vote no on YOUR marriage?" One sign had the word "Mormon" in big letters with the second 'm' crossed out. The mormons are VERY unpopular among open minded people these days. Funny for people who founded their own state to get away from anti-polygamy laws to feel so strongly about same-sex marriage.
Thousands of protesters marched through downtown Chicago on Sunday in one of the city's largest demonstrations in years, airing grievances about war, climate change and a wide range of other complaints as world leaders assembled for a NATO summit.
The protest, which for months had stirred worries about violence in the streets, drew together a broad assortment of participants, including peace activists joining with war veterans and people more focused on economic inequality.
Hundreds of protesters gathered late Sunday night near the Art Institute of Chicago as first lady Michelle Obama hosted a dinner for spouses of NATO leaders inside. At least 100 Chicago police officers in riot gear were also at the scene.
I personally wanna say THANKS to the people in 38 states and 17 countries (so far) who have expressed their support for the protest by calling the Ian's Pizza place on the Capital Square and paying for free slices to keep the protestors fed!
