I took the photo on November 28th, 2013. It was Evromaidan - a massive, months-long protest in the center of Kyiv, which began on November 21, 2013. The reason for the start of the action was the suspension by the Ukrainian government of the preparation process for the signing of an association agreement between Ukraine and the European Union. At 4 am on November 30, a special police unit "Berkut" staged a mass beating of protesters, mainly young people and students. Hundreds of thousands of people took to the streets of Kyiv in protest on December 1 - Euromaidan turned into a Revolution of Dignity.
Imagine the difficulties being faced by the commuters. Tikri border is the third protest site I am visiting.

Nothing can heal you; your wound is fatal. All who hear the news about you clap their hands at your fall, for who has not felt your endless cruelty?

Shortly after my stint in the Army in '71, I did what I could to protest the war in Viet Nam and made the New Orleans' Times Picayune newspaper, even though they misinterpreted my motive. I remember having to stand on the hand railing to reach the top of the letters!
Yep, I was a wild and crazy guy... ;)

Hi,
Recently Flickr did a remodel of the site and it was VERY poorly done. I am hoping to get at least 10,000 signatures to turn into Marissa Mayer. Please share this with all your friends! We need this to go viral.
That's why I signed a petition to Marissa Mayer, CEO, which says:
"We ask you to please change Flickr back to its old style. The new style is incredibly poorly done and we had no chance to opt out or even pick between the new and old style."
Will you sign the petition too? Click here to add your name:

Thanks!

what's a big gay event without super christian crazy protestors?
the ara was there too, to protest the other protestors
in the face of what happens every day, the word protest appears euphemistic. what you are seeing here is not a demonstration but a crowd defending taksim, so that people can demonstrate and 'occupy' there. yesterday saw a lot of police provocation in order to lure protesters out of the greater taksim area and arrest them, but some strong voices were able to hold back most of the less strategically minded who wanted to throw stones at the water cannons waiting beyond the barricades (a rather futile excercise).
You know what? I saw a lot of the protesters out there, faces covered, trying to be shady. These protesters were out in the open, causing no problems and being amicable to people.
I'm with them. I share their message.
There were some other students protesting for "Safe Data Mining" but I didn't get a chance to photograph them. I have to say, I'm all for "Safe Data Mining."
