Now, aside from their right to protest, I’m neither for or against the protesters as there are so many different issues being represented. Some I definitely support, and some I don’t. I’m not a photojournalist per se, but whenever I can, I like to get out there and see events for myself. So much is mis-represented by the media today. I need to see for my self and let the photos speak for themselves.
The folks out there come from all walks of life, with a myriad of issues. They were friendly, willing to talk; and were excited to be a part of something, and have a platform to be heard. Some were more serious then others. My photos show no violence, because I didn’t see violence. Not to say all the protesters are peaceful, I cannot say that either. I only covered one block. The group I photographed were camped in a small park a few blocks from Wall St itself.

The lead-up to Saturdays protests against the TPPA shows the commitment of people across the country to send a message that the government cant ignore, said ItsOurFuture spokesperson Edward Miller.Nationwide day of action against TPPA: “Ignore us at your peril” government warned
“The lead-up to Saturday’s protests against the TPPA shows the commitment of people across the country to send a message that the government can’t ignore”, said ItsOurFuture spokesperson Edward Miller.
A video shows young activists publicising Saturday’s nationwide protests with footage from Auckland, Wellington, Dunedin, Christchurch, and Nelson.
Action in the 22 centres starts at 10am in Raglan and many of the larger centre marches begin at 1pm, including Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch.
“People have been incredibly creative”, Miller said. “In Christchurch a giant plain-packaged cigarette packet will be marching in the crowd, while Auckland will be led by an enormous Trojan Horse, locked in a tug-of-war between major commercial interests and activist communities.”
“Around the country everyday kiwis will be photographed for a virtual campaign with signs saying ‘I am a ___________ and I say #TPPANoDeal.’ Already this campaign has been very popular.”
“Trade minister Tim Groser needs to recognise that people don’t buy the ‘trust me’ line. They want to be listened to when they say they don’t want the TPPA. And they deserve to be listened to.”

Protest against fossil industry and for climate justice

A group of peaceful protesters in Bournemouth today, protesting about the "hostile design" of bars that had been put across the middle of some of the benches in the town, to deter the homeless. It looks like it has been a success because it says on the local news website that they are going to be removed.

I was one of the 175 or so who were arrested after the CA Supreme Court, in a pitiful display of abandonment of leadership, announced it ruling to uphold proposition 8, the first time in US history when voters have been allowed to take rights away from a minority. Shame.
One of the amazing bits of grace today though was that easily 40 of my liberal religious colleagues were there to also be arrested! I am so proud that so many were willing to make a very pubic stand for equality and justice.

Marking the 2nd Anniversary of the war in Iraq. Protesters marched along 42nd Street to the Recruiting Station in the middle of Times Square where 29 of them layed down in front of the station in an act of civil disobedience. They were arrested and led off in handcuffs.
Protest rally called by Mining Dependents at Kranti Circle, KTC Panaji on 19.3.18. Supreme Court stopped all mining activities effective 16.3.18 after cancelling all mining permits. It's looking awfully white down there. Frankly, I'm amazed they could be bothered to leave their Range Rovers long enough to come to the protest. And when their taxes are 10% lower than they were under their hero Ronald Reagan, its really funny to see them claiming "tax slavery." What would they do if they didn't have people to tell them what to be angry about?
