The lead-up to Saturdays protests against the TPPA shows the commitment of people across the country to send a message that the government cant ignore, said ItsOurFuture spokesperson Edward Miller.Nationwide day of action against TPPA: “Ignore us at your peril” government warned
“The lead-up to Saturday’s protests against the TPPA shows the commitment of people across the country to send a message that the government can’t ignore”, said ItsOurFuture spokesperson Edward Miller.
A video shows young activists publicising Saturday’s nationwide protests with footage from Auckland, Wellington, Dunedin, Christchurch, and Nelson.
Action in the 22 centres starts at 10am in Raglan and many of the larger centre marches begin at 1pm, including Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch.
“People have been incredibly creative”, Miller said. “In Christchurch a giant plain-packaged cigarette packet will be marching in the crowd, while Auckland will be led by an enormous Trojan Horse, locked in a tug-of-war between major commercial interests and activist communities.”
“Around the country everyday kiwis will be photographed for a virtual campaign with signs saying ‘I am a ___________ and I say #TPPANoDeal.’ Already this campaign has been very popular.”
“Trade minister Tim Groser needs to recognise that people don’t buy the ‘trust me’ line. They want to be listened to when they say they don’t want the TPPA. And they deserve to be listened to.”

They've been moving around my room, making noise and waving their banners at me. I don't know what they want!
I get bored sometimes...

it was a peaceful protest, with a lot of costumes and stuff, so i walked alongside and shot them for a mile or two.

This was on display directly opposite the hotel it's protest was aimed at. it made me chuckle that they probably wrote it on a bed sheet belonging to the hotel. Let's hope they get their wages pronto...

These photos were taken at a protest in front of the coptic hospital the day after copts were attacked. The protest was meant to be a march in mourning till the church in Abbasia for the funeral. However, the head of the coptic hospital wanted to write the death certificates as "natural causes" for death. Ridiculous of course.

Annual protest in Hebron for the reopening of Shuhada Street (aparthied street). Shuhada Street lies at the centre of the ancient city of Hebron. For many years it was a busy shopping precinct, full of life. Today it is deserted. When the radical Israeli settler Baruch Goldstein shot dead 29 Palestinian worshippers at Hebron's Ibrahimi mosque in 1994, the Israeli army feared reprisals against three nearby Israeli settlements. It closed off the street to Palestinian vehicles and later Shuhada Street was blocked even for most Palestinian pedestrians. Most of the people who once lived here have left their homes. All the shops have closed, and Palestinians living in the area have to climb over roofs to reach their neighbours. In addition, they suffer violence and harrassment by settlers and soldiers, who often neglect to intervene to protect them from settler violence.
Protesters gather in Talaat Harb Square before, before marching in solidarity with detained blogger Alaa Seif and other prisoners sentenced by military tribunals.
