Percival P50 Prince G AMLZ at the old Speke Airport Terminal Apron Liverpool, one of several aircraft displayed here belonging to the volunteer Speke Aero Heritage Group. Built at Luton in 1951 for Shell Survey this aircraft arrived by road in 2003 in sections from Millom Cumbria, the group making a excellent job of rebuilding and restoring this prop to her former glory. Usually the aircraft collection here is surrounded by cars but as the Crowne Plaza Hotel (the old Air Terminal) was closed at the time took the opportunity for a rare uncluttered shot.

This Beech has at some point taken a tumble. But it hasnt let it stop him from growing anyways! Another 6-8 weeks and this woods will be my favourite place with the Autumn colours!
With the Susquehanna River levels low enough for the Dock Street Dam to be visible, I pulled in to Shipoke to grab a morning shot with dam and the former Reading Railroad Lurgan Branch arch bridge together. I saw this gentleman fishing in the boil of the dam and thought he would be a good prop, so I introduced myself and asked him if he would ignore me while I photographed him, the dam and a train on the bridge. His wide smile and fast nodding told me he didn't speak English. I explained again with hand motions and sound effects, he nodded slower in agreement and I waited for the train to appear. *Click* goes the shutter on this frame, the man looks at me and the camera and then scampers up the riverfront away from me with an apologetic hand motion, as if he thought he was blocking my shot. This colourful old boat prop scene was a good example of how photography is good for the heart and mind.
Photography has helped me see things that make me happy, things that I otherwise wouldn't have noticed if I wasn't into photography. Things that are not necessarily obviously interesting.
Aka finding beauty in the mundane! 😊

This week's Saturday Flashback looks back to a classic era of civil aviation.
Painted in 1999, this wonderful work by Jonathan Frank depicts some of the aircraft that frequented Houston Municipal Airport in the 1940's and 50's, as well as the Terminal Building that still stands today as a museum.
I am more than happy for those more knowledgeable about aviation than myself to correct the following. Airborne is a Trans-Texas Airways DC3, known as "Super-Starliners". Note the wheel shrouds! On the ground there is an Eastern Air Lines Lockheed Super Constellation. The third large aircraft may be a Braniff? Possibly a Lockheed Electra?
(Apologies for the distortion. It was difficult to get a straight shot, at least in part due to lights reflecting in the background)
