or more properly St Patrick's Rock. The principal building on the top is the cathedral, unroofed in the C18, yet still impressive in its proportions. To the south is the Romanesque Cormac's Chapel with medieval murals and frecoes, into which tourists are admitted for a limited time, some 20 or so a time. Views across to the small city below and to the west to Hore Abbey in the fields below The Rock. Despite some parts covered in scaffolding and plastic for restoration work it was to me a very magical place.
So I re-uploaded this lot. I edited them properly. I thought editing it with a white background would have been better, but I prefer it with a creamy background, I just smoothed it out, made all the photos match up in levels as best as I could, because some were a little up and down.
I really like this shoot, it was much better than the last one I did!
This is basically for my fashion brief, I had to create some images for a model's portfolio. Head shots, three quarter and full length shots.
I hope you like them, but constructive critisism is appreciated. I am aware that the background grows darker towards the top, and thats something I will keep in mind with the lighting next time. I was a little rushed, so I'm pleased with the results!

“How to Properly Fold the Lone Star Flag of Texas”
The official protocol for properly folding the Texas State Flag was defined by SB 1145 in 2009 by the 81st Texas Legislature. The “end game” is to wind up with a blue field and portions of the Lone Star visible. While a slide rule is not obligatory, it’s intellectually praiseworthy to have one handy for mathematical calculations and to show you are mentally superior to the ignorant and unwashed population who can’t use a slide rule. Just make sure you use a Yellow Rose of Texas slide rule properly marked, “Texas Speed Rule” (see photo).
A properly folded Texas Flag will have a slightly different final appearance depending on the size (aspect ratio) of the Texas Flag used. Note the “Great Wall of Texas” photo, The largest flag in back is a Texas Casket Flag made by seamstresses in the Texas Prison System Women’s Unit. Flags can range in size down to 12” x 18”. Though I don’t recommend folding one that small. The most common “working” Texas Flags are either 3’ x 5’ or 5’ x 8’.
Ideally, two or three native Texans (Texians) should be present to fold the Texas Flag while standing. However, in a flag folding emergency, you can use any clean surface and one man or woman of Texas can do it alone.
After stating, “Remember the Alamo!”, fold the Texas Flag lengthwise with the red stripe facing upwards. Then, fold the flag once again lengthwise, resulting in just the blue field and white field.
Take the lower white corner and fold it upwards and continue to fold the triangle over and back almost identical to how one would fold the United States Flag.
The “finished” product should look “similar” to what you see in the photos. Some of the Texas Flags I have fold nicely like this one and you can easily tuck the two inches or so left under the Lone Star. Other of my Texas Flags, depending on their aspect ratio, have 10 inches or so left over which you have to figure out how to fold and tuck. I have found that folding the two corners of the remainder in and folding it upon itself once or twice more allows me to tuck the remainder under the Lone Star and completing the triangle. Again, depending on the aspect ratio of the flag, you might get a nice half Lone Star or sometimes, just a single point of the Lone Star.
I display the folded Texas Flag as shown in the final photo. Most flag frames are designed to hold a flag in this orientation.
Sons and Daughters of Texas — Respect the Texas Flag! Only a Texan should ever be allowed to fold one. And, by “Texan”, I mean someone born in the Great State of Texas. Someone born outside of Texas can never, ever be a Texan/Texian.
Note: The “demonstrator” Texas Flag I used was nylon. Normally, for a presentation Lone Star Flag, you’d always want one made of cotton. One can take a steam iron and press a cotton flag to achieve a perfect triangle. Also, the white material on some of my flags are slightly yellow. These are “tea stained” or “distressed” flags and they cost more.
That is all.

Properly converted these using Silkypix. Unfortunately, it did this weird thing where any overexposed areas have neon green and yellow in the highlights instead of white. Really odd. Anyone know a fix for this?

When you're regularly visiting places that are safe and acceptable for a toddler to explore on her own, often playground equipment is the most abstract thing one can find, as long as one frames it properly.

Properly practiced, knitting soothes the troubled spirit, and it
doesn't hurt the untroubled spirit, either.

Properly, this is Rosa viridiflora 'Green Rose'. Seems sometimes called Green Calyx and Monstrosa. Growing in a pot, it can be raised to see clearly, and smell. It smells like a pepper-shaker--black pepper. It is a curiosity mostly. The "petals" are modified leaves....so it's sort of a deformed thing, really.
A great turnout by the Parish of St Marks to Celebrate the Mass and to Congratulate Mary Kelly on receiving the Benemerenti Medal the highest honour that you can receive from the Catholic Church, for Mary's great Voluntary work in the Church of the Incarnation, St Ann's National School Fettercairn, and St Marks Parish.
Fr Bill in his Speech about Mary said
So friends, many of you were properly wondering why I didn’t give a Homily today, on this the first Sunday of Advent! Well there is a very good reason.
About three months ago I sent a letter to Rome, specifically the Holy See the Vatican. The letter was a five page essay on a certain someone here in Fettercairn. I had to do this, because, not only was she going through one of the toughest years of her life, but with all that, she continued to carry out numerous amounts of charitable works for the area, with sale of works, cake sales, you name it and all her Church duties, and has done so for 50 years!
In this letter to Rome I explained to the Secretariat of State (who works in an office beside Pope Francis), that this lady has been involved with the Church based Charities for the past 50 years, such as constantly raising funds for Vincent de Paul, with cake sales, raffles to beat the band! And I know you all know who it is I am talking about: Mary Kelly.
Your work in the school is second to none, in helping feed the children of the area, preparing them for holy communion, and have been and continue to be a source of stability and care for every single child that goes through the doors of St Anne’s School.
Your work here in this Church, cleaning, opening and closing the Church, in the darkest of nights, to the earliest of mornings, no matter the weather. Coming home from holidays just to help with funerals. To say you are dedicated is an understatement. You have been a source of comfort to 1000s of grieving families in Fettercairn, even though you where grieving yourself.
Shows just what strength you have, and it is a strength you get form your family and your faith in the Lord. Both of which are unshakable. That you have proved again and again. And not only in your role in the school, but here in our parish community, I don’t think it’s a stretch of title to say you have been and continue to be a ‘spiritual mother’ for us all in your exemplary role in our community.
Today is the First Sunday of Advent, a time when we focus on Hope, the first candle represent Hope, as we prepare to celebrate the birth of Christ into this world. And it is people like you Mary who give others Hope. And that is why the Vatican, through the Archbishop of Dublin was more than happy to award you with the Church’s highest award it can bestow on any lay man or woman; the Benermenti Medal.
Today it is my singular honour and privilege as Parish Priest, and as your friend, on behalf of our Grouping of Parishes of Springfield, Brookfield and Jobstown: to present you Mary Kelly with the the Benereminti Medal.
No before you start to give out to me Mary, your daughter, Karen was just a ever bit involved in this as I was, and helped me with info for the letter to Rome. And I want to thank her, for organising the school side of things, and with Karen I want to thank Nicole and the children form St Annes for providing us with beautiful music and hymns for today, on this important day of reignition for all your work. And I want to also thank Margaret Leonard and Marian Kavanagh for their work behind the scenes who have very generously provided some refreshments in the Fellowship Space afterwards. So thank you all dearly.
Mary believe it or not, your name will now go on a list that will be forever enshrined in the Church, a list of people who have receive this award from the Pope in Ireland. It’s a medal that was first given to members of the Swiss Guards in the 1700s, for gallantry in their defence of the Vatican, but has since become an award by the Pope to members of the laity for service to the Catholic Church.
Mary there are few people more deserving of this award and reignition of all your work, dedication, commitment, faith and above all love for not just the community here in Fettercairn but love that has impacted so many families over the past 50 years. Absolutely extraordinary model of service and care you have shown everyone. You give without any though of reward, and today I want to change that.
And I know that I am not the only one who can say this, both as a Priest and as an ordinary bloke, but my life is far richer for knowing you.
Thanks again Mary, from all of us! And may God continue to bless us all through your love and service.

The remote control I got for my camera stopped working on my Labor Day mini-tour. The light turned on, but the receiver barely responded. When I took it apart, I noticed that the tiny, tiny aluminum wire between the antenna and main board had broken and the antenna itself was moving around in the remote's case. I temporarily fixed it with some electrical tape and aluminum foil I had on hand.
I finally got around to fixing it properly today. This entailed using a glue gun to affix the antenna to the main board and case, as well as soldering a fat 18 AWG wire between the antenna and main board. All of that went pretty well.
Unfortunately, when I started to assemble it back together, I found that the self-tapping screws had stripped the posts they screw into. At the moment, I have the unit in C-clamps with Duco Cement around the edge to hold the two case halves together. I also put some into the screw threads and put them in just to be paranoid. Hopefully it all holds together okay.
Properly called Seminario Park, this was around the corner from our hotel in Guayaquil. I was tickled to see iguanas and pigeons walking around, being fed by kids and basically treated like pets, especially after having seen so many iguanas (but no pigeons) in their natural environment.

Has your siding been recently installed? If that is the case, then your home is probably looking better than it did before, and you have also increased its resale value – good going! Now, the next thing you want to do is to make sure that you maintain your new siding with proper and regular maintenance.
Let us tell you how you can properly maintain the different types of siding materials that are available on the market. With proper care, you can be sure that your siding will look beautiful for many years to come!
VINYL SIDING
Having vinyl siding is great because not only is it ultimately low-maintenance, it is also easy to care for. The one rule you have to remember when you have vinyl siding is this: DO NOT PAINT IT. With all of the many great colours that vinyl siding comes in nowadays, there should be no need to have a colour change. Paint does not adhere well to vinyl, and it will just end up peeling off. In addition to the no-painting rule, you should also steer away from harsh chemicals when you are cleaning your vinyl siding.
While grass, dirt, and pollen can build up on your siding, one of the best ways to start cleaning your vinyl siding is with just a mild cleanser and your hose. You should also stay away from wire brushes, steel wool, or scrapers – all of which can discolour, scratch, or even puncture your siding. When cleaning your vinyl siding, you should use a soft cloth, and elbow grease to really clean your siding. While some jobs might require the use of a pressure washer, you should still be extremely careful when applying high-pressure water to vinyl siding. Be sure to keep the water stream straight to the siding because if you spray at an angle, water can be forced behind the siding, and that is the last thing you want. One last thing you need to remember when you have vinyl siding is to keep your grill at a distance as the heat can melt your siding, and will result in needed repairs.
FIBER CEMENT SIDING
If you have fiber cement siding, which is also a popular choice for low-maintenance and long-lasting siding material, make sure to give it regular maintenance if you want to keep it at optimal performance. The curing process used for fiber cement siding makes it very resistant to breaking, cracking, and moisture. Thus, fiber cement siding can stand up to strong winds, storms, and hail. While this type of siding is very moisture-resistant, there are areas that need to be attended to such as the parts where it joins doors, windows, and stone or brick facades. Inspecting this caulk regularly, and looking for any cracks or gaps is essential to ensure that your siding stays weathertight. Repairing the mentioned areas with a little caulk is usually all that you will need, but if you think that you need more extensive caulking repair, then you can definitely hire us! Just like with vinyl siding, using a gentle cleanser and a hose is your best option for cleaning dirt off its surface.
