For my Final Project, I decided to take 8 photos of a mountain in Squaw Valley and layer them to recreate the original scene. All of the photos were taken with the same exposure, aperture, and zoom. I added the white border around each of the individual photos to show the puzzle pieces that made this project. I am really impresses with how well the photos fit together!

Spiral, one of the common things in the world. They are everywhere in our daily lives, but we tend to ignore their existence. I don't even need to go outside to find them. These pictures remind me that everything in this world are all connected in some ways in this universe, and it worths us to think about what is the essence of the matters when we enjoying the beauty of the nature.

The first teaser for my new series, currently named Project Sanders. The name is definitely not permanant and has no connection to the series itself that you'd understand. Also, no connection to Ultron. :) The picture features the series' main antagonist, General Oswalt Stratton. 95% of the characters in this series I have created, I know that won't make much sense now but it will once the series starts. I have already started to write a little of the story and trust me, you are going hate this guy. I'm already loving writing him though! Alright that's about it, please comment if you favorite.
Lynx - now doesn't he look harmless.
After spending about 5 hours waiting for this guy to be successful hunting, I had to leave as the light was fading and the ducks were skittish and had vacated and I was very cold. I am sure he got something to eat once darkness fell.
The Eden Project is a visitor attraction in Cornwall, England. Inside the two biomes are plants that are collected from many diverse climates and environments. The project is located in a reclaimed Kaolinite pit, located 2 km (1.2 mi) from the town of St Blazey and 5 km (3 mi) from the larger town of St Austell, Cornwall.
The complex is dominated by two huge enclosures consisting of adjoining omes that house thousands of plant species, and each enclosure emulates a natural biome. The biomes consist of hundreds of hexagonal and pentagonal, inflated, plastic cells supported by steel frames. The largest of the two biomes simulates a Rainforest environment and the second, a Mediterranean environment. The attraction also has an outside botanical garden which is home to many plants and wildlife native to Cornwall and the UK in general; it also has many plants that provide an important and interesting backstory, for example, those with a prehistoric heritage.

Project 52 2012 #9: No time to play

J'ai dû travailler ce week-end. J'aurais préféré laisser mes doigts courir sur un autre clavier...
Day 67 - wanted to take part in Amy Spanos' Around the World Project because I think it's a really good interesting idea.
I came across it after seeing milner021's contribution to the group.

I was going to do Jelly Babies seeing as I have a slight addiction to them, but then I found out they were now part of cadburys (Cadburys bought Bassetts) so then I thought of Wispa Gold and then I just kept thinking of chocolate so I decided Cadburys would cover it all :]
I haven't been Cadburys world in such a long time, last time I went I got so much free chocolate, it was brilliant.
This wire sculpture was a project for our class. I absolutely love this! And, frankly, I never knew I could do it! I had a few ideas before this, but it all failed. So, I just had a sudden brain fart! I said, "Why don't I just make an elephant!" So I did! Then along the way, I thought that just one elephant would be boring and lonely. So I added a baby elephant to be by her side. :) So yeah. I made it overnight. Remind me not to cram again! Gaaah! >.< I tell ya, it wasn't easy making this. Well, I'm thankful I got a good grade for this. It was worth it. :)
Hope you guys like it! :D
This piece is called "Michelles"
Inspired by my friend, Michelle. She adores elephants! Love you, Mich! Miss you! :)
"Be loud and proud as an Engineer" - Roger Collins-Woolcock, 2011
This is a quote from one of the guest speakers at an engineering leadership reception I attended tonight and it really spoke volumes to me. For the past 5 years I have been making the transition to becoming a loud and proud gay man (from being just a shy and ashamed gay boy), and so the relevance of this message was not lost on me.
We engineers often downplay our achievements, and the public responds in kind. Many people don't realise that engineers are everywhere in society, and they have a role in influencing every part of society. Let's say you're reading this on a bus, so look around you and tell me how many things are influenced by engineers? If you just said "well there's the bus, and the roads it drives on" then you wouldn't be alone.
But in reality, asides from the obvious mechanical engineering influencing the bus functioning as a vehicle and the civil engineering influencing the road design, engineering also played a part in the design of the seats, the lighting, the doors, the payment system, the speaker system, the minimal frame allowing you to see so much out the windows, the hearing aid allowing an old lady at the front to hear the annoying kids at the back, the stroller holding the crying baby, the 50 smart phones that people are playing with and the 50 sets of earphones attached.
Outside, yes there is the road, but there is also the stormwater drainage, electrical, telephone, gas, optical fibre, sewerage running under the road, there is street lighting, signage, traffic lights, those things in the middle of the road that make a noise when you run over them, buildings, bridges, tunnels, etc.
As well as developing western infrastructure and conveniences, Engineers are also involved in humanitarian causes, which was a major focus of tonights event.
Alan Noble is an engineer, and also the Director of Engineering for Google Australia and New Zealand. He told us about the google maps initiatives that have recently played an influential part in the post disaster recovery efforts in many parts of the world, including Australia, New Zealand, Japan, USA, etc. He also didn't mind mentioning the millions of dollars that Google provides to not-for-profit charities and other ventures.
Lizzie Brown is an engineer, and also the CEO of Engineers Without Borders (EWB). She talked about the programs that EWB runs throughout the world, building the capacity of small villages by sharing technology and expertise to improve their livelihood. She also talked about finding your place in the massive profession of engineering, such that you can have the most influence and create the most beneficial change to the world around you.
Finally, Roger Collins-Woolcock is an engineer, and also the Director of Cardno NSW/ACT and New Zealand. Cardno is a global engineering consultancy and services provider that is involved in physical and social infrastructure. It is the biggest environmental consultancy in the USA and provides related services throughout the world.

Germany - Lubeck: Holstentor.
From outside the Alstadt - old city:
Lübeck’s landmark, the Holstentor. This city gate is made up of two red brick, cylindrical towers capped with peaked roofs that flank a gabled house with the characteristic up and down stairway-shaped façade. When it was completed in 1478, the Holstentor became Lübeck’s western gateway, a guardian of the city center on the far side of the Trave River. The gateway seems rather squat and lopsided, but is still impressive because of what it represents - Lübeck at the height of its power.

`in gold lettering the words over the entrance of the Gate read:
CONCORDIA DOMI FORIS PAX.
On the right of the picture can be seen The Salzspeicher (salt storehouses) of Lübeck, Germany, six historic brick buildings on the Upper Trave River. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Salzspeicher
The first time I saw the Holstentor was as a picture on the lid of a jigsaw puzzle when I was a child! I guess that I never dreampt that I would see it for real!
This is a work in progress restoration of my early 70's Bianchi. I think it's a Bianchi Rekord or Sprint from the early 70's, it came with a cotter type bottom bracket, and a chrome front fork shroud. It does however have a Campione del Mondo decal on the cross bar, which if original dates the bike to 1974 minimum.
I've fitted a Magistroni Chainwheel and a Campagnolo Record rear deraileur, Campagnolo Valentino matchbox front derailleur, Universal Mod 61 Brake levers, Universal mod68 brake calipers.
Is this fun or what!?

This started out as a tortured tee shirt I had laying around for quite some time. I cut it into thin strips and sewed the ends to a strip of extra jersey left over from the sleeves. Then I braided the strips and sewed up the other end with another sleeve. Then I put my hair up in a loose bun and tied the headband below the bun and tucked the ends under. I'm pretty proud of how it turned out but I think I will keep experimenting until I perfect it. Maybe next time I'll use a hot pink shirt!
