my baby recently lost 3 pounds...which isn't a good thing for babies. His pediatrician was also worried. After a week of worrying that he might have serious health problems, it turns out that he just wasn't getting enough to eat....which is easy to fix. But there are too many babies and kids who are sick and don't have easy fixes...and my heart has been aching for them and their families. I'm so so grateful for my kids health and i so badly wish that i could cure all babies and kids from disease and sickness.
Contemplating what to knit for January and found this very simple pattern for a jumper. I'd like to take it further by knitting it in sweatshirt material. Might have to cut up a few sweatshirts to get the yarn though!
On October 4 2009 we attended SALT "Red Oktober", which was a grand day out for all enthusiasts of Cold-War era vehicles. We visited East Anglia, and finished as guests of the Triumph Car Day at the Imperial War Museum, Duxford, where our Coldwar vehicles were outnumbered by hundreds of Stags, Heralds, Spitfires, TRs etc.

My project involved building an optical tape reader out of legos. I mounted an LED and a photo-resistor inside a lego brick (using a Dremel tool and hot glue). Then a built
a black chamber around this sensor, so that the light levels could be controlled.
A paper tape with color bars is fed thru the chamber, using lego "capstans". This produced 10 reliable light levels on the photo resister. After finding that the resister was returning values on a logarithmic curve, I modified the printed color bars so that it would return linear values.

Project Quilting off-season challenge: "Baby it's cold outside" 18" square quilted pillow cover
I have been wanting to try out the plus quilt design.... and when I saw the challenge info (on Christmas) I figured this was the perfect opportunity!
When I read about the challenge - I immediately thought of the holidays and snuggling on the couch with comfy pillows and blankets. Thus - the pillow cover!
Front is entirely made from scraps. Simple diagonal straight line quilting through every other diagonal. Made in my home in Montesano, WA.
The Eden Project is a visitor attraction in Cornwall, England. Inside the two biomes are plants that are collected from many diverse climates and environments. The project is located in a reclaimed Kaolinite pit, located 2 km (1.2 mi) from the town of St Blazey and 5 km (3 mi) from the larger town of St Austell, Cornwall.
The complex is dominated by two huge enclosures consisting of adjoining omes that house thousands of plant species, and each enclosure emulates a natural biome. The biomes consist of hundreds of hexagonal and pentagonal, inflated, plastic cells supported by steel frames. The largest of the two biomes simulates a Rainforest environment and the second, a Mediterranean environment. The attraction also has an outside botanical garden which is home to many plants and wildlife native to Cornwall and the UK in general; it also has many plants that provide an important and interesting backstory, for example, those with a prehistoric heritage.
