I want you inside me!

This project is really starting to wipe me out, I'm putting a lot of pressure on myself to keep the quality really high. Hopefully I can make it through the next 37 days without breaking down and doing a cop-out shot.

Rules for a pretty woman : Read a lot! You'll never know who will snap a shot!

Somebody once told me this : We do things because of three reasons- interest, passion and talent. I won’t disagree but I’d say we do things because of five things – interest, passion, talent, time and resources.

I have always wanted to jumpstart a project which will further hone my creativity in the field of photography. I’ve always had the interest, passion and talent (humbly speaking) but never had the time and resources. Since a month long shortened office hours is about to begin, I have finally decided to initiate my brainchild “Project 50: 50 shots with 50 mm lens”.

Just like any other favorite thing, one’s pet peeve must always have a nickname. Mine came a bit late. For six months from date of purchase, I have named my Sony A700 only recently. Like a progeny between Eljudie and Sony Aplha A700, I would like you to meet ELPHA! =)

Magic is everywhere. Let me count thee from one to fifty!

I've reach the end of my 50 photos for 50 days with a 50mm lens project. I've learned that I really like this lens. It's great stopped down and wide open at f/1.2. The Canon EF 50mm f/1.2L USM is an amazing piece of glass and despite what you may read online this lens is truly a dream to shoot with.

The other thing that I learned was all the different ways to light something. I deviated from the rest of the #project50 group by also including lighting in my daily shots because I also wanted to learn to work lighting with the lens. I'm glad I did as it gives me other tools in my bag that I can pull out when the situation arises.

Photography is like playing the piano. The more you practice the more stuff you can refer to. You would be one boring piano player if you could only improv using just the blues scale, same goes for photography.

On to today's daily. @photosip had DM me if I had a big finale planned and I replied back that I didn't. I decided to shoot a tomato that I was using to prepare for lunch (I was making loco moco for my daughter and myself) and needed a veggie even though we all know a tomato is a fruit.

Since I had the patties frying in the pan I needed to work fast so I decided to light the tomato with a single 430 in a shoot through umbrella. To make the background a bit interesting I pointed a 550 at the wall against the angle. The first shot was ok but the background didn't look like much so I placed 2 cups up water in front of the 550 to put some texture back there.

Why 2 cups? Because I had a 2 cup measuring cup out (remember I was cooking)

Originally built in September 1965 this car is now owned by Porsche GB and was developed as their Project 50 racer.

The photo was taken outside from some distance as it was sat on display in the Porsche Klub Haus at Snetterton.

Again I go along with the group's theme of flower(s) for today's daily. Honestly I'm not a flower person but as luck would have it my daughter was craving some fruit so we went down to the local Fresh & Easy and on the way out one of the employees gave us some flowers. Talk about luck huh?

I wanted to do something simple for today's shot so I placed the flower in a glass and lit it with a 430EX in a shoot through umbrella. I pointed the umbrella down and kept the distance close. I noticed though that the backside looked a bit dead so I placed a 580EX II in another shoot through umbrella close and right behind the flower.

For good measure I used the black cover of the umbrella to cover up the side that faced the wall to prevent any spill as I was lighting the wall with a gridded 550EX.

So here is my daily for today.... a flower.

So I take a quick walk down the strip to see what I could take for today's daily photo. While waiting for the cross walk I noticed a tag on it. Not anything great by any means but I thought it would make a nice "urbanish" shot for today.
