This is a work in progress. It is a redwork embroidery of two Muslim men in prayer. I am hoping to piece it into a world religions wall quilt with 3-5 other embroideries.

Sure, the Obey store is currently sold out of these prints. But, I'm sure if we harass him into next week, he'll... um... tell us to stop.

Stonecutter pattern by Brooklyn Tweed.

Still working on getting several subassemblies up to the point of their first priming pass so that the massive overhead of priming can be spread out a bit. Just about ready to prime; the first go will be the aileron skins and stiffeners, the main spar extensions and tie-down blocks, and the entire leading edge assemblies.

Parts shown here in green are complete, yellow are awaiting some final riveting or blending tasks, orange are awaiting primer, and red are works in progress. Uncolored parts haven't yet been worked on.

Does adequate progress deserve a banner? Can you do something yearly in one year?

Look at that! The insulation is finally all used up. It actually did all 4 shop walls. Next up is to move the Bridgeport into that far corner and install the power source. Either this weekend or next I'll have help to pull that 200 ft of wire... Can't wait.

I took this of a sleeping gorilla at Animal Kingdom; he looked so peaceful; amongst the hundreds and thousands of people that peer and poke and prod at him at all hours of the day.

American Progress was a famous engraving of the period and may have been triggered by the concept and chatter of Manifest Destiny.

These engravings in Crofutt’s Grip-Sack Guide Colorado were probably collected from any handy but divergent source but I expect that some were produced by engravers at Overland Publishing Company (or the Tribune) in Omaha, Nebraska. It is always possible that they worked from photos but it seems more likely that they were transcribed from verbal descriptions. You decide.

Colorado was fortunate to have George A. Crofutt tour the state not only once but twice in the era of early Colorado Statehood. The "Encyclopedia" was published once it 1881 and again in 1885 during the bustle of mining activity while agriculture and business hustled to catch up. The raw dreams in a new land spurred the interest in the state and made the Grip-Sack Guides sought-after information for folks in the settled lands to the east.

The Grip-Sack Guide claims to be a "Complete 1885 Encyclopedia." All in black ink on white paper. The result is that this is a fine snapshot of early Colorado life, real and inflated. Regardless, this is a wonderfully informative source to understanding early statehood and it is fortunately once again available.
