From photographer's notes - "Yesterday Bob and I did our routine photo shoot on the Gold Line Foothill Extension. We were really amazed at the rapid progress on how they are wrapping up this project. We seemed to see crews working all along the line. It is hard to tell not knowing all the details but we both think the Gold Line has pulled ahead of the Expo Line. So maybe there will not be a Photo Finish at Santa Anita after all. From what I can gather the Gold Line will open for service about a month before the Expo Line. That makes sense because it will only require 15 more Units to do so. Expo will require aprox. 25 or more units. Throw in a few for spares. The Kinkisharyo cars are supposed to start arriving in June of 2015 at the rate of 4 a month. So the Gold Line should have enough cars by the end of December. The opening date is obviously flexible because it has to be. Start up maybe early in 2016.
We both felt had the new cars been ordered when they were originally planning to be, there would be enough cars for a 2015 startup on both rail extensions. Maybe they should name a couple of stations after the two Board Members that held up the new car order. lol
ARCADIA
We were very impressed with the new Arcadia Station that was recently dedicated. It was nice that it opened before the Service starts because people are using the benches to sit and read. The landscaping is beautiful. After a few years the trees will provide shade from the hot sun. They are just finishing up surfacing the rail East of 1st St. The rail is all in and complete the full length of this project, The clock tower at the Station is very impressive.
The new bridge at Huntington Dr.has been painted and finished. It is interesting how the new bridge sits just West of the old Bridge. Part of the steel beam of the old bridge made up a side of the new bridge. Notice the old bridge used many rivets and the new one is all welded. You can see how the decking differs between the two bridges on the picture showing underneath. All bridges on this project are completed.
MONROVIA
At Mayflower Ave. we stopped at the crossing. They were working on the crossing gates. The steel Overhead Support poles are all up to Mayflower Ave. There is a gap between Mayflower and 1st St. in Arcadia. Setting up those last poles can go quickly."

Well partner, what do you think so far? I have the scrappy border done and all the hexies machine appliquéd down. The colours are not quite as seen in the photo as the light is so bad here right now. But I think it gives you a good idea of what to expect. Now I need to do the backing and think about quilting.
Between the Wilerplanggen gallery and the Ripplistal gallery of the Gotthard motorway A2 there was a landslide in the area Äschenwald. Another important connection had to be closed, but not due to snowfall as in other regions. The cleanup and repair is still in progress, but the road can be used again. At the dirty retaining wall you can see where the landslide fell on the road. Switzerland, Jan 24, 2018.
I personally really love this shot. I know there are much better photos of fireworks out there and I still have to practice a lot. I really like the symbolic of it, though.
So after a very long 9 hour work day, the horrid, awful paint job is gone! Everything is primered and nothing is showing through. It's a miracle! The carpet has also been totally ripped out. It is so hard to believe that we signed the lease just two days ago!
Now tomorrow begins the fun stuff....I get to paint actual color on the walls that I like! Yay!!!
Walt Disney's Carousel of Progress -- Through a rotating carousel theater, this attraction carries seated guests into the homes of four generations of the same family from the days before electricity to the present day.
After a brief introduction, your theater rotates to reveal Act I, set around Valentine's Day around the turn of the century. After our host, John, tells the audience about the current state of modern conveniences -- all pre-electricity -- the theme music, "There's a Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow," plays as the theater rotates again. Act II brings us to the 1920s, and we see the family preparing for the Fourth of July celebration. The father shows off all the new electric powered conveniences, including the vacuum, electric lights, oven, and refrigerator (subsequently blowing all the fuses out in the neighborhood). Among the many other inventions spotlighted, we also see the son, Jimmy, listening to radio, on which we hear a John Philip Sousa march, and we hear about "air cooling", a fan blowing over a block of ice.
In Act III, the John of the 1940s tells us that he's entered the "Rat Race" by commuting to work, and we see the benefits of his new refrigerator and, most importantly, indoor plumbing. The theater turns one more time to reveal Act IV, with the family celebrating Christmas on the eve of the new century. The family's automated oven manages to burn the Christmas turkey to a crisp and the show concludes with a final rotation into the Finale, from which the audience is dismissed.

Measure twice and cut once, this is never so important when you don't have many spares and can't run to the local lumber store for more.

Whilst the team believed they were on the verge of creating history ...
Little did they know their efforts had been eclipsed years earlier & far more succesfully through the LL-117 series

Another "after" photo from Fall 2007 that serves as a "before" photo for Spring 2008.
The brown sissal rug replaces the orange rug. The orange rug was in violation of the co-op rules (which require most of my floor to be covered with rugs) plus it wasn't very practical with a black cat who sheds profusely. Despite the fact that I vacuum frequently, the rug always had a greyish sheen from cat hair. The new rug is more practical and I like it! The orange chair and loveseat were Craigslist finds. They need a little bit of wood refinishing work. I have new orange pillows from etsy.com
Progress, progress... the nose will be a bit bulbous, I am afraid, but I will stick with this layout.

Saturday afternoon was spent tearing out the 12' 2x10's and getting all the insulation off the north facing wall. I'd take a wild guess there was about 30 years of critter activity in those walls... Had to suit up for deep sea diving for that job. What a mess. When I wired up the shop, I decided to have all wiring accessible by not putting it in the walls. What a great decision. Not just for future tie in's, but I found so many spots that critters had chewed through and were otherwise scorched. What a fire hazard. Not anymore!
Hi All, I’ve decided that with the recent changes to flickr and also with a kick up the backside I’ve started my own website. I previous setup a pbase site at www.pbase.com/acwildlife which I will still keep as it’s had nearly 7,000 page views which is much more than I had expected. but I decided to use Zenfolio to setup a website that was all my own. A recent mayday sale meant getting an account was £10 cheaper so I jumped at it.
My site can be viewed at ashleycohenwildlifephotography.zenfolio.com , it’s still work in progress with a few things needing to be added but I have some images up already so it’s not empty. I will be using the blog when I have a collection of images from a good day or a trip away. There’s going to be more images posted on my site than on flickr as posting every image to every site just becomes time consuming and I feel flickr is constantly going in the wrong direction with it’s design and goals.
I’d like to say thanks to Matt Latham for the design inspiration of my zenfolio site, I really like how he’s done his page and I’ve copied a few ideas which I hope he doesn’t mind, check out his page here www.mattlathamphotography.com
And a mention to my girlfriend Liz, her amazing wildlife images can be seen here elizabethwillis.zenfolio.com please follow her blog too!
