8.10 - Sculpt update on Spraug from the Dark Horse comics series Star Wars: Invasion. 1:18 scale. Work in progress.

Getting close to finishing this figure sculpt! It’s been difficult, because around this point in the sculpt my interests turn to something else and I end up shelving the current project to start another. While I have been prepping new figures to be made (more on that later), I am sticking to my guns with this guy and will see it through before delving into others I want to create.

Currently working on the legs and feet of the creature. I’m building ball joints in the ankles to give the legs a wider stance when needed. The sculpt is raw and organic similar to my Alien sculpts. The flesh of the creature ranges from skin, to armored plating, to weathered bone and I’ve made it a point to bring a different texture for each. Finished the arms and one of the creatures hind legs. Added “feeler” detail to the hind leg’s foot which I though was a cold effect. Another texture to have fun with.

Like I said, closing in on finishing this wonderful figure. One to the more complex Star Wars related creatures I have made in 1:18 scale. So what’s next? For Star Wars, more aliens of course!

I have begun working on the frame work for Spraug’s partner in crime, Dahal. Star Wars wiki has no info on his species or origin so other than those few panels in the Invasion comic, the guys lore is non-existent. A perfect subject for a custom figure in my opinion. Dahal reminds me of a Danny DeVito-like character LOL!

I have others in mind, some I have already announced in previous updates. I will be posting a figure update like I used to years ago.

Alien is still being worked on but I don’t want to take my eye off the ball when it comes to Spraug.

More to come!

just filling in after sketching...

slowly but surely

Does anyone else see a surprised or shocked owl instead of a bright sun? LOL

I hate seeing these beautiful old Spanish style buildings being knocked down.

Usually you don't notice it. One day it's there, the next day it's an empty lot, a day later it's some fugly box with four times as many units.

More people, more congestion, more traffic, less happiness.

Whatever is built in their place will not add anything more to the city than these buildings have been giving for the past 70 to 80 years.

More progress is being made on the mural at work. It's looking really kick ass. I'm told that I can post some photos once the publicity department has officially announced the record, which should be next week. In the meantime, I'm totally addicted to the spray cans and textures.
