hooray the walls are back up, and the ceiling is in! the room still needs to be plastered, but i will wait until i can do all the rooms at the same time. the hardwood floor has taken a bit longer than expected to put down, but it will be worth it. this will probably be the last photo of the kitchen for a while as i start working on the bathroom soon.
The little forest at the end of my dead-end street is making way for a parking lot thanks to Gatineau's new rapid transit. I'm sad; this is where I get most of my mushroom shots. :-(

Here is the new stem and part of the bow iron back on. The top two planks are ripped out to be replaced and also to give us some room to pound new frames in.
Progress shots of a Sailor Jerry Design that I copied onto this found piece of wood. Paint markers and a razor.
Hubby had some help today and made great progress on the stair-replacement project. After the purchase of a reciprocating saw (now that's a tool that means *business*), the excess floor was also removed.
Frankly, I'm not sure what's holding this house up, because almost everything we've come across is not anchored to anything else. Part of the wall we removed was put in on top of the carpeting downstairs. Nice.
