The North Charleston Police Department implemented Project S.T.A.N.D (Stop and Take A New Direction) aimed at not just arresting low level narcotics dealers with little or no prior criminal history but to go a step further and help those involved in the activity change their lives for the better. This is program aimed at reducing recidivism through working on all aspects of the criminals’ lives.
This project was the focus of a Dateline NBC special entitled “Intersection” which aired on March 14, 2013.

Este año, la Casa del Deporte implementará un total de 19 escuelas gratuitas en Viña del Mar, con once disciplinas entre las que se encuentran como novedades el balonmano y la halterofilia.
Entre las postales que dejaron los X Juegos Suramericanos ODESUR Santiago 2014, además de la histórica cosecha de medallas que completaron un total de 129 preseas para nuestro país, se cuentan recintos repletos de público vitoreando a deportistas como si se tratasen de eliminatorias mundialistas de futbol, evidenciando el gran interés y pasión que sienten los chilenos por deportes muy distintos al balompié.
Consciente de esta atención por variadas disciplinas, es que la Ilustre Municipalidad de Viña del Mar, a través de la Casa del Deporte, hace ya casi una década, ha implementado de forma gratuita en toda la ciudad, un programa compuesto por Escuelas Deportivas, y que este año junto a las ya clásicas Tenis, taekwondo, Karate, Natación, Basquetbol, Hockey Patín, Gimnasia Rítmica, Voleibol y Rugby, trae importantes novedades, como la inclusión de dos nuevas especialidades deportivas.
El programa de Escuelas Deportivas, este 2014, da la bienvenida a su oferta al cada día más popular Balonmano o Handball, y que después de la brillante participación de las selecciones chilenas masculinas y femeninas de la disciplina, premiadas con bronce en ODESUR 2014, y que justamente jugaron en Viña del Mar, es que niños, jóvenes y adultos, pusieron sus ojos sobre esta entretenida rama deportiva.
Junto con el balonmano, la Halterofilia o Levantamiento Olímpico de Pesas, también se suma al programa Escuelas Deportivas, y consiste en el levantamiento de la mayor cantidad de peso posible en una barra en cuyos extremos se fijan varios discos, los cuales determinan el peso final que se levanta, y que reciben el nombre de “haltera”.
Orientadas a niños entre 7 y 14 años, las Escuelas Deportivas 2014, suman un total de diecinueve, y para la inscripción en cualquiera de las once disciplinas de este año, sólo hay que asistir al lugar, el día y la hora fijada para la clase, y llenar una matrícula gratuita con los datos personales del alumno, y la firma de un apoderado mayor de edad autorizando la participación del menor en el taller. It is already 52 years old and still in good condition. It depicts how the simple tale of the discovery of the miraculous image came to be and how, subsequently, Pandacan was highlighted as a simple town with its own distinction and interactiveness. Zirve Üniversitesi, meslek yüksek okulu, sosyal bilimler ve fen bilimleri enstitüsü ile formasyon bölümlerinden toplam 255 öğrencisini mezun etti.
Zirve Üniversitesi spor salonunda gerçekleştirilen mezuniyet programının sunuculuğunu Vatan Şaşmaz gerçekleştirirken programa, Gaziantep Valisi Erdal Ata, İl Emniyet Müdürü Ömer Aydın, Milletvekilleri Halil Mazıcıoğlu, Nejat Koçer, Mehmet Şeker, Zirve Üniversitesi Rektörü Adnan Kısa, Zirve Üniversitesi Mütevelli Heyeti Başkanı Taner Nakıboğlu, Gaziantep Organize Sanayi Bölgesi Müdürü Cahit Nakıboğlu, Sanayi Odası Başkanı Adil Konukoğlu, Gaziantep Ticaret Odası Başkanı Eyüp Bartık, Polis Meslek Yüksek Okulu Müdürü Osman Metli, İl Milli Eğitim Müdürü Ekrem Serin, Şahinbey Kaymakamı Uğur Turan, Şehitkamil Kaymakamı Mehmet Aydın, ve çok sayıda veliler katıldı.
“5 yıl önce hayal kurduk hayalimizi gerçekleştirdik”
Törende mezun olan gençlere seslenen Zirve Üniversitesi Rektörü Adnan Kısa, "Bu sene ikinci mezunlarını veriyoruz. Bundan 5 yıl önce hayal kurduk ve bu hayali gerçekleştirdik. Bir üniversite kurmanın değil, mezun öğrenci vermenin hayalini kurduk. Gerçekleştirdiğimiz bu hayali daha da ileri taşımak istiyoruz. Üniversitemiz kurulduğunun 5'inci yılında 5 bin 500 öğrenci kapasitesine ulaşmış bulunuyor. 8 fakülte, 3 enstitü, 1 meslek yüksek okulu, 1 yabancı diller meslek yüksek okulu, toplamda 30 lisans ve ön lisans, 19 yüksek lisansa ve doktora programına sahip bulunuyoruz. Büyük bir aile oluyoruz." şeklinde konuştu.
Zirve Üniversitesi Mütevelli Heyeti Başkanı Taner Nakıboğluda, "Çok heyecanlıyız. Sizleri eğitimin zirvesinden yaşamın zirvesine doğru uğurluyoruz. Sizin başarılarınızla gurur duyacağız. Her zaman yanınızda olacağız." dedi.
“Zirve en çok tercih edilecek üniversiteler arasına girecek”
Mezun olan öğrencileri kutlayan Gaziantep Valisi Erdal Ata, Zirve Üniversitesi'nin önümüzdeki yıllarda 8 bin, daha sonra 15 bin öğrenciye ulaşacağı belirtti. Ata, "Temennim ismine layık olan zirve gibi ülkemizdeki 200'e yakın üniversite arasında ismine layık bir üniversite olacak. Zamanla en çok tercih edilen üniversiteler arasına girecek. Mezun olan öğrencilerimize de başarılar diliyorum." dedi.

Zirve Üniversitesi Kapalı Spor Salonunda gerçekleştirilen Mezuniyet Törenine katılan Gaziantep Sanayi Odası Başkanı Adil Konukoğlu yaptığı konuşmada Zirveli öğrencileri tebrik etti. Konukoğlu; “ Zirve Üniversitesinden, eğitimin zirvesinden mezun oluyorsunuz. Artık öğrencilik hayatınız sona eriyor. İş hayatında Zirve’den mezun olduğunuzu unutmayarak, Zirve’ye yakışır yetişkinler olmasınız. Yolunuz açık olsun ve hep zirvede olun.”dedi.

Eye to Eye is a series of private gallery tours of Christopher Wool led by contemporary artists that invite visitors to learn from the perspectives of current practitioners.
In this tour, artist and former studio assistant of Christopher Wool, Josh Smith, discussed the works on view in Christopher Wool and shared his perspectives on the creative process. A reception with a cash bar followed the tour.

Joint Base San Antonio-Fort Sam Houston (July 15, 2014) -- U.S. Army Installation Management Command walks the talk, increasing its investment in employee development through a revitalized, year-long mentorship program, which started here today with 28 mentees paired with their 28 mentors and five senior mentors, from installations around the globe, gathered for IMCOM Headquarters Centralized Mentoring Program orientation.
With volunteered help from community, business and education partners, such as United Services Automotive Association social media team, National Basketball Association’s San Antonio Spurs organizational management team, University of Texas San Antonio career services division and U.S. Army Medical Command partners, the mentor/mentee teams spent time on team building, leadership, organizational development, defining the objectives and desired outcome of the program and general discussion about skills, career goal setting, networking, continued education, customer service and the health/work performance relationship.

Finally getting around to figuring out all the cool features of this watch. I programmed the C25K program in to it.. It beeps and vibrates to signal what to do and when to do it. And then it records how well I did. (complete with heart rate, speed, cadence, elevation etc..) and then it puts it on the web!
