A few weeks ago Julia and I took an intro to bouldering class at Minneapolis Bouldering Project and loved it. Our 2019 goals include both working on our fitness and trying new activities/fostering new hobbies, so after work today we joined the bouldering gym.
Bouldering is a form of rock climbing without using ropes or harnesses. It was originally developed as a way for rock climbers to practice more complex climbing moves at a safe distance from the ground - typically bouldering gyms' walls aren't more than 20 feet tall and have cushioned floors, in case of falls. Today, bouldering has become a sport in itself.
The different color coded routes on a wall in a bouldering gym are called problems. From the easiest, yellow, to the hardest, white, the problems are designed to not only test your physical ability, but also function as a puzzle for your mind as well.
One of the problems for me being a closet dresser is next door neighbours. The open window on the top left is my neighbours bedroom. Obviously it is not easy to get onto the patio when she is around. Also i took the picture from my conservatory which is also in view of her bedroom. Today i saw her go out so felt at ease to be Linda outside.

in for a look see, but we live in the jungle a
long was from Bangkok. So, I'm at a loss.

Day two of our rain, none of the predicted damage has happened in the foothills and it's doing a lot of good to our thirsty state. There should be 3 or 4 feet of snow in the mountains and several inches here in Southern California. I'm loving it!

My nephew Marian (4) has a problem. The beer cap is too tough for him. You can guess from his expression how hard is he pushing to open the bottle of Budweiser. But since he is rather stubborn he finally made it. Yes, "if you want you can". Taken with Zuiko OM 50/1,8, aperture either 1,8 or 2, ambient light, cropped in photoshop.
God Is Jealous. Is That Good?

You shall not make for yourself an [idol] in the form of anything... You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God. — Exodus 20:4-5
Wouldn't it be interesting if people were not only called by their given names but also by their most dominant personality traits? Wives, what would your husband’s name be? Maybe something complimentary like sweet-talker or strong protector. Or maybe it would be something a little less complimentary.
In Scripture, the Lord God is often named by His character qualities. He is the “King of Kings,” “Deliverer,” “Provider,” “Healer,” and “Redeemer”; the list goes on and on. Yet of all the names of God, there is one that seems out of place. Exodus 34:14 reads,
Do not worship any other god, for the Lord, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God.
Jealous? That word doesn’t seem very... well, positive. It feels petty to me — like a couple of junior high girls who are both interested in the same boy; like a basketball player who avoids passing the ball to the teammate who keeps getting the high score; like a possessive high school boyfriend who becomes upset if his girlfriend makes eye contact with another guy.
God is jealous for your heart
Besides, what reason would God have to be jealous? Doesn't everything already belong to Him? Is there anything that competes with His power or his greatness? Of course not — at least not in reality.
But what about in your heart?
God is jealous for your heart, not because He is petty or insecure, but because He loves you.
The reason why God has such a huge problem with idolatry is that His love for you is all-consuming. He loves you too much to share you...
And here’s what is said of God:
For the Lord your God is a consuming fire, a jealous God. — Deuteronomy 4:24
In the Bible, the words jealous and zealous are basically interchangeable — it’s the same Hebrew word in the original texts. In English, we spell the two almost the same because they derive from the same Greek root. We think of zeal as being intense enthusiasm. That idea captures why God is so possessive about us: He is, as He says, a consuming fire of passion for us.
Do you remember falling deeply in love — how you burned with a deep passion for the love of someone, how you were consumed with these feelings? That was only the barest shadow of the power of God’s love for you.
We need to remember, as we talk about God’s intolerance of idolatry, that everything comes back to a passionate love that is so immense, so powerful, that it burns hotter than a billion suns.

Posting the last five 'winter' photos taken on 6 December 2024, SE of Calgary. I need to get back to colourful images for a while : )
On 6 December 2024, it was a definite Chinook day! Though everywhere was overcast, and not good for taking photos, the sky was gorgeous. The colours changed as the afternoon wore on, getting closer and closer to sunset time.
I had been cautious about heading out on snow-covered roads, but at least the main roads were clear. Even the backroads were pretty good, though there was still snow on them. The temperature got up to about 9C, I believe, so no problems with freezing cold. Crazy Calgary weather! Having suffered from migraine for many years, I always feel sorry for all those who are dealing with it. A Chinook can cause real misery.
Because of leaving home late morning, I knew I couldn't do a long drive, so I headed to a familiar area SE of the city. I was hoping that I might just come across a Snowy Owl, but no luck yet. If i remember correctly, I have usually seen these beautiful owls early in the new year, rather than before Christmas. Lots of time to still be lucky.
I was surprised at how many times I flushed yet another flock of Gray Partridge. I tend not to notice them until they suddenly take flight and disappear way, way out in a field. This happened maybe half a dozen times. I did post a rather blurry shot yesterday, just for the record. Several Black-billed Magpies were the only other birds I happened to see. When I drove past, they flew up on to fence posts. There was some kind of unseen carcass down in the ditch that they had been feeding on.

I'm not sure if anyone else has had this problem, but I can't for the life of me remove the hair product from MM Jade and Cloe. It won't come out no matter what I do. The strange thing is I'm usually able to get Bratz hair silky smooth pretty easily. A portion of their hair is just clumped together and the texture is almost glue-like. Maybe I'm just being picky but it's bothering me :/ if anyone has any ideas on how to remove it I'd be so grateful 💕

This was the first photoshoot that my son attended with me. Spent 4 hours walking up and down hills in 90 degree weather.
He was a trooper and took a few good shots himself with his camera.
After the photoshoot, he took a minute to relax and I took this shot.

People wouldn't be so worked up over it if this was a Windows phone, or pshh, even an Android.
One of my friends has a Droid Phone that doesn't work without a small piece of tissue in between the battery pack and case. A Windows Mobile Phone carrying friend has to hold down the volume up button on his phone throughout the entire call or it keeps turning itself down.
That new Droid X has the most formidable looking specs of any phone on the market, but is hampered by it's operating system and apparently some screen flickering issues.
You don't hear anyone screaming 'UNUSABLE!' - That's just how other phones are expected, and accepted to work. Have a problem? Rig it to work, or live with it.
Apple prides itself on releasing products that are designed beautifully and function near-perfectly. So they set themselves up for intense scrutiny and over-magnified flaws on every product.
No-one's perfect, sure, but this phone is still amazing, and anyone that actually owns one knows the supposed antenna problems mean next to nothing in REAL use.
The iPhone 4 may be unusable for left-handed, tight gripped people that like to make calls right after a sweaty workout - that also don't care enough about their beautiful phone to buy any sort of case. And that only rely on direct phone communication, rather than all the modes of communication the iPhone was meant for: Like... the INTERNET.
Even so, I haven't dropped any calls on my iPhone 4, with or without my case.
Granted, I live in a good signal area with little congestion, and am right handed, have a case, and am not stupid.
If and when they have an iPhone 5 on Verizon... Apple will rule the smartphone world.
Hey, that HTC EVO 4G ain't so bad either though. Bravo, Sprint!

A FGW class 165 seen here at Greenford having arrived on the 1210 from London Paddington.
From next year these services are planned to terminate at West Ealing to allow their paths between West Ealing and London Paddington to be used to provide extra services to Heathrow Airport in preperation for the opening of Crossrail.
A problem not answered however is that there is no rolling stock available to work this service so I wont be surprised if these through services to Paddington continue for an extra year or two.
Even these class 165/166 turbo dmu's are to leave the area soon since they will be transfered down to other parts of the UK once they are placed by new emu's. Bristol is expected to be one of the
area's to receive these units

I sealed both with MSC matt (same can), but Kairn is the only one showing signs of cracks (he's the newest). When I painted him was summer time here. You can see them very clearly thanks to my Reflex and light position.
