I am at last happy to announce to you all my LEGO A-4E Skyhawk MOC – in John S. McCain III’s livery. If anyone reading has been following me for a long time – first off, I thank you sincerely for your support – some may remember the A-4E I built quite some time ago now, also in John McCain’s livery. This one is pretty much a ground up rebuild of my initial Skyhawk and is for the most part entirely a novel design.

The model itself, in terms of features, has retractable landing gear, space for a minifigure in the cockpit (BARELY), and deployable airbrakes. Due to the construction of the wing and the standards I wanted to prioritize for looks, I did not incorporate working flaps or leading edge slats like I had initially planned. However, like I said, my priority if in doubt was nailing the look and accuracy of the model on display – and I feel I have approximated that to the best of my current abilities… though I know I can always improve! Let me know your thoughts though!

It's been a while since I've been away from Flickr. It feels like forever. I will not drain you with my reasons, suffice to say, sometimes life needs some prioritizing. I hope to stay on course and do my best to catch up with your streams, which I've missed.

19 people in a tiny textile shop in Old Delhi, India.

Family shops and businesses are vital to modern India's economy, deeply rooted in tradition and cultural values. These enterprises, often passed down through generations, dominate sectors like retail, manufacturing, and services, providing employment and fostering entrepreneurship. They build strong, personal relationships with customers and suppliers, prioritizing long-term growth and stability over short-term profits.

In contrast, Western nations tend to emphasize individualism and corporate structures, leading to a higher reliance on professional management and large, publicly traded companies. Cultural differences, such as the importance of family and community in India, allow family businesses to thrive, whereas Western regulatory environments and market dynamics often favor larger corporations. This cultural and economic context underscores the unique resilience and significance of family-run enterprises in India.

Banff. So many amazing locations to shoot. Way too many to shoot during the golden hours over a four day visit. After a number of visits (five, if you are counting), it gets easier to prioritize which ones are the best at sunrise and sunset. That leaves other times of the day for everything else. Some photographers will tell you that for a photo to be good, you must shoot during the golden hours. I agree with them to a degree. If you are lucky enough to have good weather with nice cumulous clouds, the light that you get at sunrise and sunset can't be matched (it's not called golden hours for nothing). But to stop shooting because the golden light is gone is simply hogwash to me. Take this photo of Johnson Lake that I took in mid-afternoon. It wasn't the best conditions that I had on this visit. In fact, it was dreary most of the afternoon. If you are patient and wait long enough, you might get a little sunlight breaking through and lighting the treetops and clouds.

The Cathedral Church of Saint John the Divine in Morningside Heights in Manhattan on a cold wintery afternoon in January of 2013. Prominent in the foreground is the Peace Fountain, a 40 foot bronze sculpture that was sculpted by Cathedral Artist-in-Residence Greg Wyatt in 1985 in commemoration of the 200th anniversary of the Diocese of New York. The corner stone for the Cathedral was laid on December 27, 1892 by the Episcopal Bishop of New York Henry Codman Potter on the 13 acre property that was acquired on the Morningside Heights plateau for the Cathedral. This amazing structure, now past its 120 birthday is not finished. It has had financial delays, deaths, two world wars, the diocese’s funding is directed to prioritize serving the community through their programming and social initiatives that have stood as obstacles. There have constantly been efforts to maintain the architectural integrity of the Cathedral. Regardless it is the world’s largest cathedral and among the five largest church buildings in the world.

Hilma af Klint (Swedish pronunciation; 26 October 1862 – 21 October 1944) was a Swedish artist and mystic whose paintings are considered among the first abstract works known in Western art history. A considerable body of her work predates the first purely abstract compositions by Kandinsky, Malevich and Mondrian. She belonged to a group called "The Five", comprising a circle of women inspired by Theosophy, who shared a belief in the importance of trying to contact the so-called "High Masters"—often by way of séances. Her paintings, which sometimes resemble diagrams, were a visual representation of complex spiritual ideas.

Hilma af Klint never married, lived only with women and prioritized deep friendships with them. She has not left any diaries, letters or rumors about romantic relationships. This has led to modern theories that she was queer or specifically lesbian, additionally claiming that her paintings, views on androgyny and gender fluidity show queer sensibility, and comparing her decision to keep her work secret for 20 years after death to Emily Dickinson.[35][36][37]

In her will, Hilma af Klint left all her abstract paintings to her nephew, vice-admiral Erik af Klint of the Royal Swedish Navy. She specified that her work should be kept secret for at least 20 years after her death. When the boxes were opened at the end of the 1960s, very few persons had knowledge of what would be revealed.

In 1970 her paintings were offered as a gift to Moderna Museet i Stockholm, but the donation was declined. Erik af Klint then donated thousands of drawings and paintings to a foundation bearing the artist's name in the 1970s. Thanks to the art historian Åke Fant, her art was introduced to an international audience in the 1980s, when he presented her at a Nordik conference in Helsinki in 1984.

The collection of abstract paintings of Hilma af Klint includes more than 1200 pieces. It is owned and managed by the Hilma af Klint Foundation in Stockholm, Sweden. In 2017, Norwegian architectural firm Snøhetta presented plans for an exhibition centre dedicated to af Klint in Järna, south of Stockholm, with estimated building costs of €6 to 7.5 million. In February 2018, the Foundation signed a long-term agreement of cooperation with the Moderna Museet, thereby confirming the perennity of the Hilma af Klint Room, i.e., a dedicated space at the museum where a dozen works of the artist are shown on a continuous basis.

Saturday night cruising in Paprihaven. At Rummy's Freight and Repair,* a special customer arrived a few days ago. None other than John Neverjohnnie,** the fabulously wealthy and famous Paprihaven bowling pins magnate, brought in his Formula GT Roadster with the passenger side damaged*** from the now infamous 'Invader Incident'.****

He now returns to inspect the work, accompanied by the superbly stately Midge Myrtle.

"There you go, Mr. Neverjohnnie."

"Fine work, Rummy. Just as I hoped."

"Like we said, we had to use our LikeStock® fabricator for the initial build and then, since we were using your car as the model, we worked out some imperfections that had already been there. She's factory spec."

"Indeed. As agreed, triple the bill. I appreciate your prioritization and fast work."

"Thank you, Mister Neverjohnnie. We're always grateful for your business. Watch out for those custom rigs."

"Hah! He couldn't get it out of impound so I bought it."

"You going to drive it??"

"No, just to keep it off the streets."

We hiked for several hours up the mountains through territory unfamiliar to me, carrying two days worth of gear and slipping and sliding our way through the first real snowfall of the year, our sight limited by surrounding fog so thick we couldn't see more than a few feet in any direction. The night was spent a cabin that seemed in the middle of nowhere, as if suspended in time and space - lost in the whiteout fog and silence of the empty mountains for miles around. Silent, save for the joyful laughter of good friends that could be heard from inside the cabin, perhaps spurred on by the wine and chocolate that somehow was prioritized to be carried up the mountain. Night passed, morning came, the fog still heavy... We wandered through the fresh blankets of snow, hoping and waiting for the sun to break through. And then, it did. The mist began to roll back down the mountain, lit brilliant gold by the rising sun, and we got our first view of our surroundings as I took this self-portrait. I can't remember if I said any words in particular during this moment, but I do remember my heart soaring and feeling the happiest I've felt in a long time, standing here in my element and witnessing one of the most beautiful sunrises I've ever seen. It will be a long time before I ever forget this one.

In June 2020, after experiencing a devastating spring due to COVID, New York State announced that certain businesses could begin partially opening again. New York City’s response included a program called Open Restaurants, which allowed restaurants to use sidewalks and parking spaces for outdoor, socially distant dining. Owners quickly built temporary enclosures in the streets in front of their businesses to try and recover from months of shutdown. Small stretches of Brooklyn in early 2021 display the variety and feel of these enclosures. Hopefully, the Open Restaurants initiative will help these businesses to survive and may even lead to a more permanent reorienting of streets to prioritize people over cars.

As a photographer who prioritizes capturing uplifting, hopeful images, it’s really difficult for me to photograph images with any semblance of decay or destruction, but as the sun was setting and casting interesting shadows on these wildfire devastated trees in the El Dorado National Forest, I experienced a profound respect for the life and death they endured. Minimal post-processing was required to convey the reverent mood I was seeking in these images, primarily relying upon Adobe Lightroom’s latest color grading panel, which really has a profound impact on the mood of an image using slight color adjustments in the highlights, shadows and midtones.

Five Union Pacific ACs lead the super hot Premium Intermodal train down into the bottom of Caliente as the train gets ready to make a 180º turn. The train is finishing off a fast decent down the Tehachapi's, as the Tacoma South Intermodal Terminal "TacSim", WA bound train stopped everything on the mountain Uphill and Downhill. Now that Union Pacific only runs northbound Z-train the running of this train and the ZLCLT are really prioritized even with work windows in effect.

I love almost all seasons of the year, but if I'm asked to prioritize then it'll be something like Autumn, Winter and Summer. I just love how the greens from the summer transitions into those various colors. A lot of science going on in the background but even without the knowledge of it, the whole phenomena is such a wonderful thing to experience.

I think I’m going to raise my prices for photographing weddings. It’s not something I want to do, but the market and my schedule demands it. I have worked pretty darn hard the past 3 years to build my wedding photography business. My first one was in June of 2005 when I got $300 for shooting a friend of a guy I work with. Since then I have been the main photographer on 40 weddings. Looking at my calendar, I have up to 21 more this year. Now, shooting 32 weddings in one year is a lot for a single photographer. But I also have a full time professional job, teach a class at the local Park & Rec, and have 2 kids and a house. There is no doubt that I love what I do, but I love my family more. Even though we’re severely in debt and need the money to just survive, I just can’t continue this pace. God has blessed me with a lot of work and great clients, and I know he won’t give me more than I can handle, but at the same time, I need to know how to pace myself and how to prioritize things in life. I’m looking for GOOD photographers in the 805 who might be able to help me out with some weddings, or perhaps just take some of the weddings I’m on contract with at Casa Sirena. Due to some unplanned life events recently, I need to focus more on my family and non-photography life in order to maintain sanity.

I’ve also been told my prices are too low for what I do. Now I don’t do a whole lot. I shoot the wedding, I edit a good lot of them with Picasa, and a select few with Photoshop, then I burn the bride/groom a copy and send it to them. No albums, or crazy prints. Just simple. So that cuts my time down, but still 30+ weddings is at least double what I had wanted to do.

That being said, Tania & Vince was my favorite wedding of the year. I don’t see a wedding on my horizon that would eclipse the beauty, fun and personality of this wedding. I finally updated my neglected BLOG with a LOT of photos from this wedding. Honestly I couldn’t limit myself from finding 40 photos to post.

Anyway, so for 2010 starting today, I’m going to double my prices, which should slow things down a bit. I hate to do it, but then I can focus more on my family, and take better care of each bride/groom I do work with. I haven’t advertised on Craigslist or anywhere else in quite some time, and it’s obvious that word of mouth and my reputation is enough to at least satisfy this “part time recreational fun job”.

It's nice getting their A330 freighters however they plan to retire the A300s by end of 2024 so I need to prioritize photos for the one or two I still haven't gotten photos of yet.

Meus Amigos,

My friends,

Shortly after this picture I have to go off to start my journey back home.

Not likely to be able to connect me back before tomorrow night, or should I be off the next 24 hours.

On occasion I will try to visit all my contacts, prioritizing those who obviously are morediligent in my gallery.

That everyone is well.

Until tomorrow.

I disregarded some of the composition rules on this one...just couldn't bring myself to cut out any of the light.

HBW everyone. I really have little business doing what I want and spending time on Flickr but I had to stop in and say Hi. For those of you new to my stream, I am Mr. Mom and spend my days loving and summoning patience with and for my 29 month old. And part-time I get some photography work and administrative tasks to do at home.

Well, the good news is, I have an abundance of work right now. And one of those things I would like to share is about BabyGrace Photo. I just found out an area golf course would like a number of my photos to be displayed AND offered for sale in their pro shop and Bar/Restaurant. They Get the Art, I get an audience and potential customers.

So thanks to my family and friends and contacts here who continue to support and inspire and teach. I will post occasionally for a while, and sneak around with an occasional comment and favorite. I am sure, soon, things will slow down.

(And for the time, will prioritize people who comment on my uploads)

Work, Rest, Love, Play.

I love being outdoors and away from city noise - though it's difficult to sit still for any length of time. Years of working in a stressful environment and constantly prioritizing yet another urgent request makes it difficult to slow down. When I do manage it, however, as I did here, it's absolute bliss to feel the morning sun on my face and the cool breezes between my toes.

This is for Sophie

and everyone else who liked it.

and i also want to say that i'm sorry for not commenting that much lately, because time has decided to become smaller, and i have to prioritize. But it will grow again soon, and until then, i think you are all most amazing, and i love you all, and thank you for being so nice as to comment and favorite and such xoxoxo

Song my love Dedicated to me. Its so nice to finally be someones everything. To be treated good and prioritized. Very thankful you can see and want the love I offer ♥

Tell me, how did I ever get so lucky

That she wasn't with somebody?

So I could have her for my own, my own, my own

Of the sound of her footsteps leaving?

Walking all alone, alone, alone.

Not complaining, I'm just saying

Shot this on on march 11th, 2011 in Ulsfjord, close to Tromsø.

The colors of the aurora are decided by the amount of energy absorbed, and wheater it is

oxygen or nitrogen (atoms) emissions of photons in the earths upper atmosphere colliding with the solar winds. When these atoms collides with solar winds they get "excited", or ionized.

When oxygen emissions collide, which is the most common, the color of the aurora is mostly green.

When nitrogen emissions collide, which is more rare, the color is blue or red depending on the state the atoms remains in. Red if the atoms returns to ground state from excited state.

Hence the title.

The auroral activity is from 100-500km altitude. The greener colors are lower at about 100-200km, and the red from 200km to 500km altitude. This is also visible in this picture with both green and red aurora, where the red goes much higher.

An absolutely fantastic evening this was, dead silent waters, cold (-5) and no winds whatsoever.

What just annoyes me a tiny bit is that after I had shot a few of these shots, I took a tiny break,

and during that tiny break the BIGGEST meteor I have ever witnessed came over my head and continued out the sky over this beautiful fjord. It was as wide as the ray in the middle of the auroras here. I was like 5-6 meters away from the tripod which was perfectly positioned for having captured it. If I had got that meteor in the shot as well, I guess somebody at NASA could have been interested, since it was the biggest thing I have ever seen. You could see it burning up when entering the atmosphere, going from yellow to orange/red, until disappearing behind the horizon.

Well, I guess coincidences and luck (or the lack of it) often decides weather to make or break.

Regardless, I think this picture ranks a high among my shots so far, due to the spectacular color-range.

Hope you enjoy it,

Locomotive 64-0989-5, built in 1973 by Electroputere Craiova, underwent a general overhaul with engine replacement and bodywork reconstruction in 2005. It is currently in commercial service hauling InterRegio Night train 1942, Mangalia – Satu Mare.

Less than an hour behind this train runs train 1641, Bucharest North – Satu Mare.

At Baia Mare station, passengers from train 1942 must wait 50 minutes for the coupling of coaches from the other train before continuing the journey to the final destination.

If passenger interests were prioritized over the petty concerns of certain union leaders, the timetables of the two trains would be coordinated, and the coupling operation would take place more promptly—avoiding unnecessary inconvenience for travelers.

Hola!

What's good people?

I am back and I have some fresh scans to share with you. It's been almost three months since I last posted here.

And although I never really stopped shooting, there were times that I had to prioritize other financial obligations over my practice, and was struggling to keep up with the whole workflow from exposure to scanning and or printing.

For example, I would either afford just shooting, just scanning or just printing, but not all together in a coherent process. This in turn creates a backlash of other problems in my workflow, such as the build up of undeveloped film and me not being able to see my work regularly and reflect.

Honestly, I don't like being unable to afford to shoot, develop and scan film, it creates a gap in my practice and makes me feel cold with the craft.

I also don't like not being able to see what I am shooting as often as possible, as I am unable to reflect, thus creating inconsistencies with my learning curve.

I have noticed that I kind of like having a consistent practice routine and being able to see the progress. It's a constant flow, one thing feeds another and they are all interconnected. Writing feeds thinking, thinking feeds seeing, seeing feeds shooting, shooting feeds printing and so forth and so forth. Sometimes, when this flow is interfered, I might also be affected mentally and come out of balance.

This is because photography is not just a passion for me but a way to ground myself daily and be more present. It helps me a lot to get out of my head and experience everything around me in the flesh and not from the window of my fish tank. It forces me to become more aware of my surroundings which then helps my ability to control, maintain and direct my focus. Something I struggle to do a lot of times.

Caught this amazing moment in Vietnam of a street seller flashing a big smile at the camera. It's a beautiful reminder of the warmth and hospitality of the people in this country.

Vietnam is a place of incredible contrasts and contradictions. It's a country that has experienced so much turmoil and hardship, yet the people remain resilient and optimistic. They have a strong sense of community and are quick to welcome outsiders with open arms.

It's interesting to think about the differences between the Western mentality and the Vietnamese way of life. In the West, we often prioritize individualism and personal success, whereas in Vietnam, the focus is on the collective and the community. This is reflected in the warmth and generosity of the people, who are always willing to lend a helping hand.

As I reflect on this photo, I am reminded of the importance of community and the power of a simple smile to bridge cultural divides.

134 has earned a demonstrable reputation in 2024 thus far and seems to offer everything considered fit to run a road train as leaders. The seasonal power shortages that seem to become the norm every summer in the wake of the KCS acquisition brought out the thoroughbred workhorses to run road trains once more.

On Friday 5743/2283 brought in a CWR train into the GTA, quickly turning over for a 135 in a matter of hours, with 2283 leading and an addition of KCS 4127 facing reverse. The 2283 likely was bad ordered so by sunrise on Saturday 135 got a recrew and their train was left staged on the north main just west of Kennedy. Reporting amongst railfans picked this up and responded appropriately with little enthusiasm, as 5743 was sandwiched and least likely to lead given the available information. What the recrew ultimately did however was wye just 5743 and 2283 together, and the 40 led 2-135 straight to Windsor.

With ACes being a common leader on 134 these days, and no stacks for detroit warranting use of their wye, the set was fully expected to maintain the ACe leader, only that by sunrise on Monday, scanners in Windsor picked up a notable "5743 East" recieve clearance to London, meaning they had delayed their 134 run just to re-wye 5743/2283 again and leave the ACe facing forward. This delay stripped 134's train of their own symbol, running as 2-H92 to London, and then 2-H88 to Toronto, but by all means the traffic was an authentic 134.

ET Seton park in Toronto housed the northernmost-facing trackage into Toronto, bearing 190° South or 10° North on the map. A respectable trestle bridge validates the pursuit of the more ideal sunlight for afternoon eastbounds on a sunny day, and with Leaside being a common holding location before battling the grade to Toronto Yard, delays often add extra time for the sun to come around. 421 and 101 parading out of Toronto on the north and H11 working the south, added an extra 30 minutes before RTC took H11's light and got 2H88 cleared to McCowan. This being the only desired location in the GTA for shooting such eastbounds, half-a-dozen railfans gathered at Eglinton Ave to watch 134 traverse the West Don River.

The Garm AGDS’ primary weapon system is the dual-role surface-to-air and surface-to-surface guided missile, a further development of the older Air Defense, Anti-Tank System (ADATS). ADATS was originally developed as an international private joint venture undertaken by Martin-Marietta (USA) under contract to Oerlikon-Bührle (Switzerland), and was a single-stage multi-purpose all-weather missile system with a unique dual-target capability. However, operational difficulties with the dual-purpose MIM-146 missile experienced by the Canadian armed forces, the only nation to field the vehicle-mounted ADATS, was taken into account in the development of the AGDS, prioritizing the vehicles’ air defense role and subsequent capabilities.

After 15 years of traveling to our vacation house near Yosemite, I was finally provided the situation to take a photo of this beautiful piece of road outside Mariposa, California. Fall colors descended upon the foothills, it was a slightly cloudy day, AND I was headed to town anyway.

I used my birding camera (Nikon P950) to get the compressed view of this. I shot in RAW and processed in LightRoom. I did clone-out a power line and an ugly realtor sign, but still happy with how this turned out. I hope to sell this photo to raise money for a rusty 1993 Chevy Silverado with a gun rack in order to fit-in with the locals in the area. Apparently, I'll also need to develop a smoking habit and change my political affiliation.

I hope your Thanksgiving weekend was a good one (if American) and you were able to get some downtime as well. I haven't had a whole lot of downtime these past couple of years... just prioritizing things differently.

A small stretch of Brooklyn in February 2021 showed the variety and feel of these enclosures. Hopefully, the Open Restaurants initiative will help these businesses to survive and may even lead to a more permanent reorienting of streets to prioritize people over cars.

“ΣΛRLY ΣSPRΣSSΘ TIMΣ, ΛLPHΛ's SΣVΣN SΣΛS & THΣ ΣVΣNTIDΣS SPΣCTRΣ'S MΛSQUΣRΛDΣS”

Good day / evening ladies & gentlemen, compagni, comrades, gals & gents, fellow followers & beautiful searchers,

“ΛN INVITΛTIΘN”

As I wrote earlier this week, and almost like sending out an open invitation to read a bit more about me this weekend, ...

who that man behind that funny-pale-profile-photograph of me here is, well highly unlikely you like to know :D,

but let's try / go anyway, diving a bit deeper into the alpha-seas.. a beautiful-boring read & wall of text ? you might think there ..

well I can't assure you ..

but.. let's give it a try anyway.. and maybe you will find a few fine eye-openers too for you as it was for me.. along the way .. maybe some silly-fun as well ;)

I wish you a good coffee { Moka } time & read. Enjoy..

“ΛLPHΛ”

Some might know me as ALPHA here, a name what popped up in my mind immediately & a particular strong connection I felt inside me towards that word when making this Flickr account here, a name not directly linked, for me, to the Alpha wolves, the leaders amongst a wolf-pack, no; for me it's important { trying } to be good and share true goodness towards this world { ahh no I'm not a saint .. far from it, absolutely and no I do not live like a true James Bond here either, I'm a simple man { so I will just use simple written words here } though I do have a deep lust for life, a deep thirst for knowledge & history .. better to make a delicious Espresso { Moka } than a watered-down-tasteless Espresso made without "passion".. no.. . ? For me: yes !

A fighter, yes I am and as you are.. to fall and rise again, to try and make a better version out of myself every single night, day and hour, trying to give and radiate good vibes towards this world around me, but to be good & kind to myself too { like an infusion of a Vitamin "Ego" given to myself, thus indulging ourself. When you would ask me what those Vitamin "Ego" actually means for me: a pretty short answer: for me it means a good and deep time given to myself, like a good long workout, a beachwalk, swimming, a delicious cup of Espresso, being in nature and or with animals, a darksweet piece of chocolate, a fun chit-chat, a deep conversation with your friend / loved one etc, it can be everything, though with one rule in mind, that it has to recharge, revive yourself, feeling better and good, just time for yourself in the most best way possible, yet most of us neglect this last step more or less, we feel we need this or that, here & NOW, we feel we have to do this or that for them { or even from them }, NOW...

In my "humble" opinion it's better to spread positive "lightseeds" around this world, almost like candles, lighthouses, inspiration, funny things, quotes, art etc etc, maybe even eye-openers { I do hope.. along your coffee-time-read here too :)) }, almost like an invisible "lead", a lighthouse shining from afar and writing to you about the word lead, in my opinion leader { ship } should be "invisible", not pushing people into a direction THEY want, no, in my humble opinion leadership should be:

people who are falling or in need of help, to make them rise again, stimulate them without pushing your "cure" into their mind, to make them feel good again, to make them { feel } precious again, because in the end we all are beyond truly precious here, every single one of you out there on this highly-crazy strange blue rock floating in space amongst the countless seas of stars & planets, floating and searching... and search... and sea... ..

And it's going both ways..

Awesome people around me makes me feel { far more.. (: } awesome too.. (: .. a very old Norse { Viking } saying: “Birds of a feather flock most together.” ~Brennu-Njáls Saga, c.51 .. meaning: “Surround yourself with likeminded people who bring out the best in you.” Yes we all know & think this: a simple logica,.. but it's working, deeply and on many levels..

“Λ PLΛCΣ CΛLLΣD HΘMΣ” & “THΣ ΛNCHΘR IN TIMΣ”

Where I live ? Well I live very close to the sea, in a harbour town not that very large with rainy, foggy stormy Autumns & Winters and hot Summers.

I couldn't live without: the sea { warm & nice in Summer, and very stormy in Winter }.. storm & fog.. weathertypes I prefer for the Winters here, and of course my daily Espresso infusions, good deep conversations, surrounding myself with art, history, books, family, friends, nature, animals & music.. etc etc that is what makes this wild Alpha-heart do tick very here.

“LIFΣ-PΛTH & LIFΣ-TΛCTICS .. ΛND FΘR THΘSΣ AMΘNG US ... FRΘM BURN-ΘUT TΘ BURN-IN”

To start with these quotes:

[ 1 ] - “Listen to other people's ideas { yes even from me .. (: } - but at the end of the day, TRUST YOURSELF” ― Source unknown --> and yes I can't agree more onto that quote !

[ 2 ] - “Don’t you know yet? It is your Light that lights the worlds.” ― Rumi

“The wound is the place where the light enters you.” ― Rumi

“What hurts you, blesses you. Darkness is your candle. {Every darkness is your opportunity to become a candle.}” ― Rumi

[ 3 ] - “If we could see the miracle of a single flower clearly our whole life would change.” ― Buddha

[ 4 ] - “Life isn't about finding yourself. Life is about creating yourself.” ― George Bernard Shaw

[ 5 ] - “There is no path to happiness: happiness is the path.” ― Buddha

[ 6 ] - “Birds of a feather flock most together.” ~Brennu-Njáls Saga, c.51 .. meaning: “Surround yourself with likeminded people who bring out the best in you.” ― An old Norse { Viking } quote --> again ! .. utterly true and yes I can't agree more onto that quote !

[ 7 ] - “Be fearless in the pursuit of what sets YΘUⱤ soul on fire {ᚴ}.” ― Jeniffer Lee

Now let's get back to “LIFΣ-PΛTH & LIFΣ-TΛCTICS ... FRΘM BURN-ΘUT TΘ BURN-IN” Part one { in the future maybe more }:

My personal life-tactics, to get back onto a strong track again, some of my daily routines I would like to share with you:

[ 1 ] - I'm an early bird, yes I love the serene nights deeply, but for my system I discovered to rise early is better for me that means a sharp 6:00 am here { listen to your own system .. it will tell you what is best for you }

[ 2 ] - than I'm making an Espresso here { -no-sugar-please-thx! :D }, and for me truly nothing better to be found in the mornings than this energy-infusing mindboost with it's delicious inspiring aromatic velvetness filling my room + some fast fruit, .. and so endless possibilities become available ONLY AFTER my Espresso

[ 3 ] - a short but intense workout { pushups, etc etc }

[ 4 ] - a quick shower { from warm to absolutely fully cold water, this way { in my opinion } it will kick in your immune system on a deeper level, your survival spirit inside will greet you happily & strong, which in these modern lives is mostly neglected, you feel it immediately the fighting / surviving beast inside you getting reborn / awaken from slumber, a deep primal { energy } boost, an utter great way to start the day I would say ;) yes

[ 5 ] - than a quick but good healthy breakfast { maybe abit of red meat or later for lunch; red{ish} meat is truly concentrated powerfood, my breakfast-preference: I'm just making a few fast wraps / taco's with some slices of red meat { like Roast beef }, black or red beans, salad, triplo concentrato tomato sauce { paste } as base, a slice of nice cheese and some herbs, this whole process will only takes some 5 minutes to prepare these devilicious-healthy things } Good food is extremely important,.. I must say here: do we buy the cheapest and or worst fuel for our cars .. ???

And as some daily extra vitamins & minerals I take:

1 x 1000mg Vit C + 1 capsule Zell H3 { enzymes, vitamins & minerals }

[ 6 ] - good sleep { !!! } { in my humble opinion bad sleep and too short sleep could lead to:

for children to ADHD // adults: depression, bad immune system with all it's other forthcoming problems, diabetes, heart disease, burn-out // elderly people: sleep deprivation increases Alzheimer's protein, etc, yes we all know this and at the same time we truly can think we could neglect it... and just hope for the best.. { !!! }

[ 7 ] - water

[ 8 ] - regular { long } walks, personally I love beachwalks as you might know by now :D, nothing better to clear

your mind on a stormy beach, fully recharging yourself, getting "inspiration & wisdom" gifts from the sea,

unblocking energy blockades due to better blood flow / circulation.. and thus an awesome tool too to get rid of stress, headaches etc etc etc

“STRUCTURΣSINTHΣMIST”

{ structure & plan; exercise; knowledge; follow your dreams, heart & soul; sea, the light in darkness & the darkness in light; protect & discover; inner- & outer-energies; food & fun }

“SΘUL COMPΛSS - ΘUR HΛRBΘUR”

The rest of my daily processes & routines I will spare you, it's more than good & wise, to make your own "potion", just giving you some ideas here, and as I'm far from being a guru, nor want to be, and as I quoted earlier “Listen to other people's ideas { yes even from me .. (: } - but at the end of the day, TRUST YOURSELF”. I'm learning every day from my mistakes { that means in my case I'm learning all day :D }, yet I just like to share to you what works for me, and at the moment { and it's not the first time in my life } I need and will get to “TO BURN-IN” again from my burn-out state which I recently have { getting back to my 7 hours of sleep instead of 3.5 hours sleep for 4+ months }, sometimes we think the grass is { always } greener in our neighbour's yard, and while we are being surrounded with those "super-solutions" from TV-commercials, a "pill" for this and a "pill" for that to make us smarter, stronger and better etc, a "master"-guru who is trying to sell his or her book online through a smart youtube video about the best solution you could possibly ever find out there and so we think ahhh yes THEY have THE key onto the locks of our own happiness and strength, in my humble opinion, I dare to say to you, no, it's good to listen to others, their advice etc, but it's much better, smarter and healthier to trust our own feelings, our mind, our soul, when we listen deeply to our soul { the true "compass" } it will lead us from our knee-deep mud crawling state and battlefields inside, and it will lead us towards a better version of ourself, better health, stronger, and yes in that I believe, the glowing spark inside me.. Yet our soul-compass is many times being overshadowed due these world "never-ending noises & super-solutions" out there { Sadly power on Earth here means more than most times nothing more than blinding conflicting corruption, the only truth.. { beautifully wrapped-illusions }.. sold as truth }, brainwashing-projections over our eyes; and leading us further & further away from our true-self, like stars being obscured due to the overbright citylight, we need to find our way back "home" again.. we can: lighthouse { true friends, faith, love, nature etc } and our inner-compass { soul .. }

“BIRDS ΘF Λ FΣΛTHΣR FLΘCK MΘST TΘGΣTHΣR.”

Surround yourself with truly good & honest people, they can bring us onto a higher level, it's not good to get drained by negative ones and as Albert Einstein once said: “Stay away from negative people. They have a problem for every solution.”, they can & will put us onto a lower level & plan in our lives. Embrace yourself and the precious ones out there, sometimes we have to close a very special connection with a precious person, maybe we got triggered because we were not ready for it, and it's healthy and wise to leave and close those connections, temporarily, and sometimes those precious connections we have closed are so strong, we can re-open them again and meet those people again in our life when we are ready with our better version of ourself.

Once in a while in life we meet precious people, just once in a while.. once in a million, there are these whom are beyond golden so precious, as with my wife I've met { maybe you have seen her name, Gitana, along with the titles of my art & photos I upload here, a deep dedication towards her when I uploaded those photos }, being together were the best and most precious times of my life, till 4 years ago, when she passed away { August 17, 2016 - a day before my birthday } at a young age due to heart failure, and an extreme unhuman black crater / hole was smashed into my soul after she left Earth.

This year I'm { trying } to rise again. Yet I know too { it takes time }: your and mine beloved one who left Earth, don't want us to suffer, neither we want this ourself { yet it is so difficult to fully entwine that wisdom into our mind and soul and feelings }. I "know" & feel nothing is lost in the end in this universe { energy is never lost, it is a metamorphological transition we are witnessing here }, we will meet our beloved ones again, absolutely. And when we are truly opening ourself again and want to better ourself and our life after many years of suffering,.. surviving those "inner-battlefields", I do have no doubt we will reach that destination, trusting ourself with our own unique deep soul as our most true compass and with our precious friends we will find our way and steer out those dark naval storms, I have no doubt about it, the human mind is extremely powerful. “Following the light of the sun, we left the Old World.” Always new horizons.. better versions of ourself.. waiting for us to be picked up.. and as Buddha once said: “The mind is everything. What you think, you become.”

Embrace life, the precious ones around you, take good care of each other & yourself { your love, your wife / husband, children, family, friends }, guard your energy, feed your thirst for knowledge, believe me, nothing else matters more than these things...

Don't let yourself being mentally drained by anyone or anything, it's damaging deeper than we think.. on many

multiple layers..

And as they say in Italy: “è meglio essere soli che in cattiva compagnia.” translated to: “It is better to be alone than in bad company.” So true, not only with company, "friends", "love", or in marriage / relationship, we always think,

it will be better soon, maybe it is because of me they react like that, no. Again don't let yourself being mentally drained / or being taken down by anyone or anything, it's damaging deeper than we think.. { !!! } Don't think there is NO solution.. there IS always a solution as long as you are looking honest to yourself and start to prioritize your life, with the things what makes YOU happy & healthy again, .. yes absolutely without a doubt ;) !!

Blocking your emotions, will block your creation-process, energy-flow & eventually your inner- & outer-happiness !

Speak up when something isn't / doesn't feel right for you, and share other feelings too, show your beautiful soul, let it radiate !

Share your feelings & preferences.

Do keep in mind, there are / will be people who don't like you and maybe even hate you, those connections will never work, you can roll-out the red carpet for them, give them "gold" but it will drain you in the end, as so is the opposite very true too, precious people will stick with you, no matter what, they feel this faith inside them for you, they believe in you, no matter what, those are beyond precious, and together you will rise on your life-path, happier & stronger together.

And in the chant - all solace

And in this solace true consecration comes

Come on night

Come on moon

Come on winter

And the dead of light

Come on tears

Come on love

Come on cries

In the abode af night

Come on night

Take me home

Come on love

Sing alone

To this Raven chant

Of loss and wore

Raven night

Take me home

In this dawning of the raven tear

Where wolf crave for night

And in that night a chant shall rose

In the temple of dawn..

I wish you beautiful, inspiring, safe & protected times & an utterly awesome & cool weekend !

The Crucifixion is a life sized painting by the Venetian artist Titian, completed in 1558 and presently hanging in the sanctuary of the church of San Domenico, Ancona. Jesus Christ is shown crucified, with Saint Mary and Saint John standing either side of the cross in the Stabat Mater tradition. The kneeling figure is of Saint Dominic. The canvas was completed during Titian's fifth decade of painting, and is one of the works marking a shift toward his extensive exploration of tragedy and human suffering.

The mirderoa heads of the standing figures are presented in an upturned triangle arrangement near the base of the cross. All the figures appear in the foreground, which is on a single plane, lending a sense of immediacy to the picture. The composition is dominated by a colouristic conception of painting in which the picture's predominant dark blue, brown and red hues are pierced through with near-white flashes of light. The cloying regions of dark hues, such as the area of browns and near-black comprising the Golgothan terrain from which the saints emerge, intensify the sadness and horror of the crucifixion. Against this, the moonlit highlights draw attention to significant dramatic and emotional elements of the spectacle. In the late years of his life, in such works as the Ecce Homo (National Gallery of Ireland, Dublin), and the Saint Margaret and the Dragon (Museo del Prado, Madrid), Titian used this method of contrasting of light and colour as a key—or even pivotal—tool for rousing in the viewer a dominant emotion of one kind or another. With the Crucifixion, this method of generating a tragic sensibility is used almost to the exclusion of any other method. It is one of the earlier—possibly the earliest—and most direct uses of the technique in all of Titian's paintings.

But this was not a practice the artist used in all his paintings from this period, and it is indeed in sharp contrast with The Martyrdom of Saint Lawrence, another depiction of human suffering Titian was completing at the same time he was working on the Crucifixion. Whereas the Crucifixion has a simple layout, The Martyrdom of Saint Lawrence is a complex—almost baroque—composition. Although the use of colour, light and contrast in the Martyrdom has some obvious similarities with the Crucifixion, it makes no use of any plan of monolithically coloured forms to convey any of its message or gravity.

In Giorgio Vasari's account of The Crucifixion in terms of Titian's late style, he noted Titian's use of what he termed as "stains or patches" (referred to as "macchie")—forceful, striated and impasto applications of paint, alongside more concise brushwork. Vasari particularly pointed out the vigorous and textured quality of these strokes. The sparse yet skillful highlights on Saint Dominic's head and the expansive earthy tones defining Christ's feet bear a striking resemblance to the suggestive technique observed in Titian's unfinished works.

Even before entering the last phase of his life, Titian demonstrated a more liberated painting approach in certain situations. This occurred, for instance, when the artwork's surface wasn't meant for close inspection or when dealing with larger-scale compositions. In pieces like the Crucifixion and The Annunciation in San Salvatore in Venice from around 1560-6, there are several instances exemplifying this 'late style', such as the expressive, impasto lilies in the latter. These artworks, likely destined for dimly lit church settings, might have influenced Titian's decision regarding the level of meticulousness applied to these works. A similar scenario might be observed in The Martyrdom of Saint Lawrence, which not only is set at night but also allows for broader, more dynamic brushwork. The fact that these paintings left Titian's studio during his lifetime suggests an intentional pursuit of this more relaxed stylistic effect.

Another notable aspect of Crucifixion as well as other late works from Titian, is the presence of flecks of colour applied across the painting. When the canvas is viewed from a distance, these spots of bold colours have the effect of bringing animation to the surface of the picture.

This artwork stands out as a pioneering piece in Counter-Reformation art, which notably prioritized narrative clarity and emotional empathy. The deliberate positioning of the three mourners in the foreground encourages viewers to empathize with their grief. The Virgin and saints form a crescent shape, resembling the head of an anchor, positioned at the foot of the cross. The Virgin expresses solitary sorrow on the left, while St Dominic, depicted with elongated fingers, fervently grasps the base of the cross for strength. Christ, noticeably more illuminated, appears somewhat distant, slightly smaller than the others, evoking a sense of separation. Titian vividly portrays blood coursing along Christ's arms and soaking into the loincloth, aligning with the Counter-Reformation's aesthetic and principles.

How our lives have changed one year on! It was one year since Victoria detected it's first Coronavirus case. Today on Australia Day the Worldometer ticked over to 100 million cases.

To everyone who has lost a loved one, my sympathies.

We live in a world interconnected in so many ways. This year has taught us in Australia to live a bit more carefully but we have been very lucky to live on an island with governmental systems that have prioritised health.

As the WHO preliminary report on the Coronavirus Pandemic decided- healthy people leads to more likelihood of a healthy economy. "Prioritizing health or prioritizing the economy has proved to be a false dichotomy. A preliminary observation by the Panel is that economic outcomes have been better in economies where strict public health control measures have been implemented effectively." and "There has been a wholesale failure to take seriously the existential risk posed by pandemic threat to humanity and its place in the future of the planet." Second Report 19 Jan 2021 .

New friends are a curious breed. Made a bunch this year, some I talk to occasionally, some I see regularly. But I've been around long enough to know that it's all still tenuous, these friendships. Some may simply fade, some may sour. Some folks move away, or move on. You could talk to someone every few days on IM, for weeks, and they they simply disappear. Or a random person you met at a random event becomes a regular breakfast date, someone you look forward to talking with. Most of my new friends, like Olivia here, I've met through Flickr. Which is another strange aspect to it all. You get to know people through Flickr, their photos, bits of their lives and personalities, but it's only as much as they reveal, and what you can read between the lines, if they bother to write any, that is. Back to my recurrent theme of not knowing someone until you actually spend time with someone.

Used to be, when I was younger, I just assumed that when I met someone, and we became friends, that was that. Friendship initiated, friendship secured. But time moves on, things happen, you drift, you prioritize friendships continually.

There are folks I'd met in the first part of '07 who have already been...well, cycled out. There are folks I've met on Flickr who have disappeared, no longer posting, or writing.

So I'm used to it, but I'm always hopeful that the people I meet will be folks I know for the long run. So every step towards friendship is tentative, guarded. Don't IM too much, don't invest too much too fast. But be optimistic.

Sheesh, this is long. I'm rambling. Welcome to 4:45am on a Monday.

Here's Olivia, at our first meeting, where I felt weird walking around in her house, taking it all in while she changed out of her work clothes. Wondering how long it'll take to get to that comfort zone where the Good Shots live. Then having the conversation flow easy and the first shot be good, realizing things are gonna work out just fine.

Here's to New Friends.

These cookies are probably the largest set I have made in a hurry. There are approximately four and a half dozen here. I started baking at seven in the evening because I HAD to go pick of some furniture yesterday out of town and it turned into a long trip...Anyway, two and a half hours of decorating after the baking, plus about an hour this morning adding the finishing touches with my food color pen out me in at right about 4 1/2 hours total decorating and baking time. Although I don't hate these, I had much grander plans for these that didn't pan out because I didn't prioritize very well. Most notably, I would change the handcuff chain design. But I will save that for next time. Moral of the story, don't wait until seven in the evening to start on a batch of cookies, LOL!

That said, these were for a man who is graduating from the police accademy today.

Quickly Escaping Unpleasant Tasks

" While we may not have control over the quality of people we work with, we do have the power to choose who we surround ourselves with. It's important to strive for positive, motivated colleagues who can contribute to a healthy and productive work environment.

When it comes to unpleasant tasks, it's best to finish them as quickly as possible, dump the trash, and move on to more enjoyable work with better quality people. "

Renaissance front façade of the Château de Kergrist in the municipal area of Ploubezre south of the town of Lannion, Brittany, France

Some background information:

The Château de Kergrist is located in the municipal area of Ploubezre just about 7 km (4.4 miles) south of the town of Lannion. With its almost 3,700 residents, Ploubezre is a community in the French department of Côtes-d’Armor in the very north of Brittany. It belongs to the arrondissement of Lannion. There are another two ruined castles as well as five manor houses in the municipal area of Ploubezre.

The construction of the manor began in the 15th century and continued into the 16th century at the request of the nobleman Jehan de Kergrist and his wife, Gilette le Cozic. At that time, it was a typical manor of Breton Renaissance style, with an octagonal tower flanked by two main wings. A vaulted passage allowed access from the north inner courtyard to the enclosed kitchen garden located to the south. In the 16th century, a second tower was built opposite the first, larger in size and reflecting the family’s prosperity.

At the end of the 16th century, Marie de Kergrist, the last representative of the senior branch, married Jonathas de Kergariou, the lord of Keraël, transferring ownership of the manor. On the eastern side, a classical façade was erected, with a double straight staircase leading to the current French garden. The manor thus became a château. To the south, the façade drew inspiration from its eastern neighbor but was designed in a simpler style.

In the 18th century, the Barbier family, marquises of Lescoët, inherited the Château de Kergrist through marriage to the Kergariou family. However, they had to abandon it during the French Revolution. In the following years, it was sold as a national asset, divided into three parts and pillaged. In 1867, the brothers Charles and Julien Huon de Penanster recovered the estate, which had been reunified reunified by their grandfather and father on behalf of the Barbier de Lescoët family.

They restored the château and its grounds with a 17th-century aesthetic, prioritizing the acquisition of antique furniture, particularly from the 18th century. They also acquired the wood paneling from Beauport Abbey, located near Paimpol, to match the era of the façades' construction. Furthermore, Charles purchased master paintings from Rubens and Giordano as well as 16th-century wooden panels from the reign of Henry II, which he used to craft neo-Renaissance furniture.

Passionate about landscape art, Charles and Julien Huon de Penanster redesigned the four hectares of garden completely to echo the different facades of the property. To the north, the flowerbeds align with the sober Renaissance facade. To the east, a French formal garden, inspired by a design by André Le Nôtre, is displayed on a terrace bordered by a granite balustrade, complementing the 17th-century facade. And finally, to the south, an English garden is arranged in front of an 18th-century "Louis XIV-style" facade.

In 1926, the Château de Kergrist was listed as a national historic monument. In the 20th century, the then owner, Régis Huon de Penanster, created the Jardin des Roches with a desert-like aesthetic, utilizing the natural effect of granite blocks from a previously buried vein. The estate‘s current owner is still the family Huon de Penanster. Both building and the surrounding gardens are open to the public. A visit is highly recommended.

The Château de Kergrist was also the location of some shootings: The filming of the French feature film "Jamais avant le mariage" took place in the gardens, apartments, and mill of the château, whereby the entire Huon de Penanster family joined in the fun of acting during the shoot. In 2012, the TV broadcaster TF1 aired a program filmed at the château called "100 ans de mode" (in English: "100 Years of Fashion"). And in 2015, a remake of the film "Sleeping Beauty" was made in the interiors and gardens of the château.

For someone who embarks on a long trek and likes photography, the backpack becomes a battleground of priorities. Do you prioritize your creative vision or your aching shoulders? Rising before dawn to start our day, I knew I would miss not having a tripod, especially with my unsteady hands. After a few shots you convince yourself the shaky, foggy footage is a reflection of how your walking trip feels anyway, ethereal and slightly disoriented.

I think this image turned OK and hope you like it.

It is still a bit chilly here so Sunday afternoon was a perfect day to spend communing with the critters at the NC Aquarium. I could spend hours in the Jellyfish area, in complete zen. I think my whole being is totally relaxed in this room watching these floating and ethereal creatures. I am betting my breathing and blood pressure are slower and lower in there!

They really should have hammocks in that room...It is SO relaxing! I am thinking that I should have a tank of them...AND an octopus tank (with a locking lid since they are so smart and sneaky!) in my bedroom because I am inclined to believe my insomnia would be nonexistent if I did! For now I will rely on my sound machine that plays a dozen different soothing sounds ...and is always set on the sound of the waves of the ocean hitting the beach. It is helping somewhat.

It is time for bed...tomorrow I have a busy day, but one that will get things accomplished! I am now in 3 shops here...with the possibilities of a fourth in the next week or so! Exciting times...mixed with a touch of anxiety at being able to keep up with it all! I think I will need lessons in prioritizing! Otherwise, making dreams come true will turn into making them “Be careful what you wish for” instead!

As Norfolk Southern continues to slowly but surely replace the vintage CPLs which are still left here in Virginia, particularly in the Shenandoah Valley, it was time to stop making excuses, and prioritize shooting them. A buddy joined me for 2 days of a wild mission shooting sunrise to last light. Having already shot Pkin, we opted to go for Vesuvius upon learning that 11Z was coming our way. The storm clouds were rolling in, and the shadows were getting long, as we nervously awaited 11Z's arrival. As they rolled through, we were treated to absolutely spectacular late afternoon lighting in this legendary location. Fans of O. Winston Link may recall he shot a few of his scenes here in Vesuvius, Virginia, and it is today just as beautiful, rural, and peaceful as it was back in the days of N&W steam railroading. I will be back out trackside soon no doubt, but without any pretense of being owed any luck. The train Gods owe me nothing.
