Tamoxifen is a type of cancer medication used to treat and prevent breast cancer. Although this drug is one of the less expensive cancer drugs, comprehensive health coverage can help ease the cost burden just when you need help most. Unfortunately, many insurance companies do not provide adequate coverage for cancer treatments. If you have breast cancer, you might have already discovered that insurers do not like to pay for cancer-related expenses. Although Tamoxifen will not bankrupt you like some other cancer drugs, you should still be prepared to fight for your right to coverage.
Before filing a claim, read your health insurance contract. There are two sections that you should look at very closely, the schedule of benefits and the section called limitations and exclusions. The schedule of benefits is a long list of procedures that your insurance company will pay for. Although your insurer might not mention specific drugs, you should make sure that cancer treatments are eligible for coverage. You should read over the limitations and exclusions section for much the same reason. You should not try to file a claim if cancer treatments are listed under exclusions. Doing so would be a guaranteed waste of time. If you have any questions about Tamoxifen coverage, talk to your insurance provider for clarification.
Start by reviewing your own insurance company's policies regarding cancer and preventative treatments. If you start out by knowing what they allow or expect, you will have less let-down and struggle later. If they don't cover treatments like Tamoxifen, find a company that will. In many cases, you can even talk to the drug company about getting on a program that will help you afford your medications. Of course, having private health insurance is always going to be easier and less hassle. Private insurance companies aren't out to get you. They are just out to make a profit.
When it comes to maintenance treatment and ongoing care for things like cancer and other chronic diseases, insurance companies lose a lot of money. If they spend months paying for expensive prescriptions that you need for your situation, they are losing profits because you are ill for a longer period of time. In most cases, insurance companies deny these medications because it simply costs them too much money to pay for them. Take the time to find out about cancer treatment options and prescription coverage when you are looking at health insurance so that you don't find out that you aren't covered when it is already too late.

Governor John Carney rolled up his sleeve to get his annual flu shot Oct. 10 at the Division of Public Health’s (DPH) drive-thru flu clinic in Dover, officially launching the state’s flu season prevention efforts. DPH urges all Delawareans 6 months and older to get a flu shot for protection from influenza illnesses and complications.
“Getting your annual vaccination is an important step to prevent illness, protect our workforce, reduce health care costs and ultimately, save lives,” Governor Carney said. “I encourage every Delawarean to get their flu shot early in the flu season.”
Vaccinations not only prevent people from getting the flu, but they can reduce the severity of flu illness and prevent visits to the doctor, clinic, emergency room and hospitalizations. Vaccinated people have less chance of missing family, school and work events due to influenza illness.
“Vaccination is not just about protecting yourself, it’s also about protecting each other," said Department of Health and Social Services Secretary Dr. Kara Odom Walker. “Everyone comes into contact with all types of individuals who are vulnerable to influenza viruses carried by unvaccinated people. Getting a flu shot might not only help you but your grandma, a co-worker or your young son or daughter.”
The 12-hour event was held from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Department of Transportation’s (DelDOT) main administration campus in Dover, in hopes of taking advantage of the busy location, which also houses the Division of Motor Vehicles. DPH and Bayhealth nurses administered intramuscular flu vaccines to drivers, their passengers and pedestrians. A special area was available for those with access or interpretation needs. American Sign Language interpreters along with interpreters for those speaking Spanish or Haitian Creole were on site.
By noon, 431 vaccinations had already been provided, surpassing last year’s total of approximately 346 vaccinations.
“Today it’s easier than ever to get your flu shot. We wanted to make it as convenient as possible so we are bringing our flu clinic to your car,” said DPH Director Dr. Karyl Rattay. “The flu is easy to transmit and you can get it from seemingly healthy, but unvaccinated people. It is also unpredictable, which is why it’s important to get vaccinated every year, since we never know what kind of flu season we will see.”
Added DelDOT Deputy Cabinet Secretary Nicole Majeski, "We are pleased to partner with DPH in this important public safety effort. Our campus gets a lot of traffic with the DMV on site, and we hoped that by offering to host it here, we could help increase the number of Delawareans who will get the flu vaccine. We also shared it with our employees here on campus and many of them have been able to receive flu shots just by walking up.”
DPH urges individuals to get their flu shots early in the flu season. It takes about two weeks after vaccination for antibodies to develop in the body that protect against influenza virus infection. The flu mist is not being recommended again this year based on the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s analysis, which raises concerns about its effectiveness.
Getting a flu vaccination is easy. They are offered through physician offices, many pharmacies and some grocery stores. DPH is also offering flu vaccines at its Public Health clinics in several State Service Centers including some with evening hours. For more information about the flu and where to get vaccinated, visit www.flu.delaware.gov, call 1-800-282-8672, or Google “CDC flu finder” and enter a ZIP code.
Last flu season, Delaware had 4,590 confirmed flu cases, 15 of which were fatal. All but one of the individuals who died was over the age of 50 and had underlying health conditions.
Delawareans can prevent the spread of the flu and other respiratory illness with good hygiene: Wash hands frequently with soap and water or use alcohol-based hand sanitizers, and cover coughs and sneezes with a tissue, and dispose of tissues immediately. If a tissue is not available, cough or sneeze into your inner elbow. Droplets from a sneeze can travel up to six feet. Stay six feet away from others who are coughing or sneezing, and avoid touching your eyes, nose, or mouth.
Flu symptoms come on suddenly, and include fever, cough, sore throat, runny or stuffy nose, headaches and body aches, chills, and fatigue. Some people get complications including pneumonia, bronchitis, and sinus and ear infections. Those sick with the flu should stay home from work, school, and other gatherings and not return until free of fever - 100◦ F (37.8◦ C), without the use of fever-reducing medications for at least 24 hours.
They should avoid close contact with well people in the household, drink plenty of water and other clear liquids, and treat fever and cough with over-the-counter medicines. Those who are very sick, pregnant, or have a medical condition like asthma should call their doctors for antiviral medicines to make the illness milder, hasten recovery, and prevent serious complications, hospitalizations, and even death.
The Berlin Wall (German: Berliner Mauer) was a barrier constructed by the German Democratic Republic (GDR, East Germany) starting on 13 August 1961, that completely cut off West Berlin from surrounding East Germany and from East Berlin. The barrier included guard towers placed along large concrete walls, which circumscribed a wide area (later known as the "death strip") that contained anti-vehicle trenches, "fakir beds" and other defences. The Eastern Bloc claimed that the wall was erected to protect its population from fascist elements conspiring to prevent the "will of the people" in building a socialist state in East Germany. In practice, the Wall served to prevent the massive emigration and defection that marked Germany and the communist Eastern Bloc during the post-World War II period.
The Berlin Wall was officially referred to as the "Anti-Fascist Protection Rampart" (German: Antifaschistischer Schutzwall) by GDR authorities, implying that neighbouring West Germany had not been fully de-Nazified. The West Berlin city government sometimes referred to it as the "Wall of Shame"—a term coined by mayor Willy Brandt—while condemning the Wall's restriction on freedom of movement. Along with the separate and much longer Inner German border (IGB) that demarcated the border between East and West Germany, both borders came to symbolize the "Iron Curtain" that separated Western Europe and the Eastern Bloc during the Cold War.
Before the Wall's erection, 3.5 million East Germans circumvented Eastern Bloc emigration restrictions and defected from the GDR, many by crossing over the border from East Berlin into West Berlin, from where they could then travel to West Germany and other Western European countries. Between 1961 and 1989, the wall prevented almost all such emigration. During this period, around 5,000 people attempted to escape over the wall, with estimates of the resulting death toll varying between 100 and 200.
In 1989, a radical series of political changes occurred in the Eastern Bloc, associated with the liberalization of the Eastern Bloc's authoritarian systems and the erosion of political power in the pro-Soviet governments in nearby Poland and Hungary. After several weeks of civil unrest, the East German government announced on 9 November 1989 that all GDR citizens could visit West Germany and West Berlin. Crowds of East Germans crossed and climbed onto the wall, joined by West Germans on the other side in a celebratory atmosphere. Over the next few weeks, a euphoric public and souvenir hunters chipped away parts of the wall; the governments later used industrial equipment to remove most of the rest. The fall of the Berlin Wall paved the way for German reunification, which was formally concluded on 3 October 1990.
With the closing of the East-West sector boundary in Berlin, the vast majority of East Germans could no longer travel or emigrate to West Germany. Many families were split, while East Berliners employed in the West were cut off from their jobs. West Berlin became an isolated exclave in a hostile land. West Berliners demonstrated against the wall, led by their Mayor (Oberbürgermeister) Willy Brandt, who strongly criticized the United States for failing to respond. Allied intelligence agencies had hypothesized about a wall to stop the flood of refugees, but the main candidate for its location was around the perimeter of the city. In 1961, Secretary of State Dean Rusk proclaimed, "The Wall certainly ought not to be a permanent feature of the European landscape. I see no reason why the Soviet Union should think it is—it is to their advantage in any way to leave there that monument to Communist failure."
In a speech on 26 July 1963, US President John F. Kennedy had acknowledged that the United States could only hope to defend West Berliners and West Germans; to attempt to stand up for East Germans would result only in an embarrassing downfall. Accordingly, the administration made polite protests at length via the usual channels, but without fervour. The Wall violated post-war Potsdam Agreements, which gave the United Kingdom, France and the United States a say over the administration of the whole of Berlin. A few months after the barbed wire was erected, the U.S. government informed the Soviet government that it accepted the Wall as "a fact of international life" and would not challenge it by force.
US and UK sources had expected the Soviet sector to be sealed off from West Berlin, but were surprised by how long the East Germans took for such a move. They considered the wall as an end to concerns about a GDR/Soviet retaking or capture of the whole of Berlin; the wall would presumably have been an unnecessary project if such plans were afloat. Thus they concluded that the possibility of a Soviet military conflict over Berlin decreased.
The East German government claimed that the Wall was an "anti-fascist protective rampart" (German: "antifaschistischer Schutzwall") intended to dissuade aggression from the West.] Another official justification was the activities of western agents in Eastern Europe. The Eastern German government also claimed that West Berliners were buying out state-subsidized goods in East Berlin. East Germans and others greeted such statements with scepticism, as most of the time; the border was only closed for citizens of East Germany traveling to the West, but not for residents of West Berlin travelling to the East. The construction of the Wall had caused considerable hardship to families divided by it. Most people believed that the Wall was mainly a means of preventing the citizens of East Germany from entering or fleeing to West Berlin

Measuring your stoma is one of the most crucial skills to know. Not only will it help you prevent leaks, but it will also allow you to extend the appliance wear time. It will ultimately help you save your #skin.
In this article, we will discuss how to measure your stoma.
Note that this guide is for people who have a round-shaped and adequately protruded #stoma. This guide will help people with colostomies, ileostomies, and urostomies. You may not get perfect results if your stoma is flush or overly protruded.
Similarly, if you have a loop ostomy, it will not be possible for you to benefit from a circular guide. You are going to have to be creative while measuring the stoma to create a perfect flange’s opening. One way to use a circular guide for a loop stoma is to use a half-circle. This way, you will be able to get the required shape of the opening.
Every skin wafer is different from the others. All wafers are made to swell when they come in contact with the stomal output, but the degree at which they swell may vary from brand to #brand. That said, you may want to create an opening slightly larger than your stoma. It will allow the flange to expand without strangling your stoma. It is crucial to get a flange that gives your stoma enough space to expand when waste contents pass out of it. You will, of course, need to make sure that the flange sticks well to your skin.
Change in the stoma size
The change in the size of the stoma is inevitable in the first few weeks after #surgery. There will be swelling in the stoma right after surgery. Over time, this swelling subsides, and the stoma settles to an almost permanent shape 6-8 weeks after surgery. It is the normal process to anticipate.
A stoma can also change its size due to certain changes in the body. For instance, there may be a change in the shape and size of the stoma when you gain or lose weight. Some conditions that may result in the change of the size of the stoma include a prolapsing and parastomal hernia. You can make an accurate opening to make the #flange fitting the shape and size of your stoma.
You may want to use the following supplies while measuring your stoma.
• A measuring guide. It will be particularly beneficial if you are using cut-to-fit #ostomy barriers.
• Ostomy barrier #scissors. These scissors help you create an opening that will not have sharp edges.
• A marker for tracing.
• Gauze to keep your stoma dry. You are going to need it when you are not wearing anything over your stoma. It is typically more beneficial if you have a #urostomy.
• Mirror. It will be helpful if your stoma is away from the scope of vision due to any reason.
Most cut-to-fit wafers come with markers that allow you to create an opening of the exact shape and size of your choice. You may want to learn about creating an opening from your ostomy care nurse.

Diapers are, without a doubt, a fundamental piece of a child's growing up years. Expendable diapers are generally favored by working guardians for their benefit. Disposable diapers are a truly costly infant frill. Nonetheless, they're picked by guardians who are usually in a rush.

The 6 second break-in method is a technique that burglars use to gain access into almost any garage that is not protected. The intruder pushes in the top panel of the garage, they then use a coat hangar to activate the emergency release mechanism. This allows them to open your garage with ease and access your vehicles and door to the inside of your home. The Garage Door Armor unit will block the intruder's attempts to get inside of your home using this common method. Lock your garage down today with Garage Door Armor.

Gold Hill is an unincorporated community in Storey County, Nevada, located just south and downhill of Virginia City. Incorporated December 17, 1862, in order to prevent its annexation by its larger neighbor, the town at one point was home to at least 8,000 residents. Prosperity was sustained for a period of 20 years between 1868 and 1888 by mining the Comstock Lode, a major deposit of gold and silver ore. Mines such as the Yellow Jacket, Crown Point, and Belcher brought in over $10 million each in dividends. The Gold Hill post office remained in operation until 1943. Today Gold Hill exists as a shell of its former self; its population in 2005 was 191. It is part of the Reno–Sparks Metropolitan Statistical Area. Historical remnants of the town can still be seen, including the Gold Hill Hotel, promoted as Nevada's oldest hotel, in existence since 1861; the former Bank of California building; the restored Virginia & Truckee Railroad depot; the Depression-Era Crown Point Mill; and remains of several of the mines and residences in various states of restoration and repair.
The population of Gold Hill was largely Cornish and was one of their main settlements in the Comstock area.
A later mining complex in the area operated from 1927 until 1942, when mining operations were shut down by War Production Board order L-208, shutting down all nonessential gold mines in the United States. Just under a hundred million dollars' worth of ore was extracted after 1930. Active mining has returned to lower Gold Hill, with the start of production at Comstock Mining's Lucerne, Hartford and Billy The Kid mines.
In 1976, Bob Gray, a former Marine Corps photographer in World War II and admirer of the Virginia & Truckee Railroad since he was a teenager, bought a section of the abandoned railway line between Virginia City and a point about two miles south. He laid track on that right of way and began operating a steam-powered tourist railroad. The track was extended to Gold Hill in 1992, and in 1994 the Gold Hill Historical Society was established to preserve the Gold Hill depot, one of the few wooden structures in the region that survived the 1875 fire in Virginia City. After ten years of applying for grants, lobbying, and collecting steel rail donations by the Gold Hill Historical Society, the mayor of Carson City approved the letting out to bid of a contract to reconstruct the railroad between Gold Hill and the Carson River, fifteen miles away. Today Gold Hill is a stop on this tourist railroad, which operates historic steam trains attracting thousands of tourists each year.
