Obs:

- O uso da erva-doce é alternativo e poderá ser até eficaz, mas ñ substitui a assistência médica necessária;

- Donald Runsfield compra 90% da produção mundial do anis estrelado da China, desde 1997, qdo surgiram os primeiros casos de gripe aviária H5N1 (uma das variáveis do H1N1)… seria por acaso???

A £1.5 million research centre to find new advances in the prevention and treatment of children’s burns launches at Frenchay Hospital today (June 10).

The Healing Foundation Centre for Children’s Burns Research will develop new techniques and approaches to prevent burns and scalds and improve the clinical care and recovery of children who have suffered burns.

Falklands War veteran Simon Weston, and Lead Ambassador for the Healing Foundation, will visit Frenchay Hospital to see the work of the children’s burns team and meet patients.

Each year 23,000 children are hospitalised with burns in England and Wales.

Two children are brought in to the South West UK Children’s Burn Centre at Frenchay Hospital with scalds every day.

Some burns can be life-threatening and in some cases the effects can be life-long, and include physical scarring, chronic pain and psychological difficulties.

The new research centre, based at the South West UK Children’s Burns Centre at Frenchay Hospital, Bristol, is led by the University of Bristol in partnership with clinicians and academics at:

North Bristol NHS Trust

University of the West of England (UWE Bristol)

University of Bath

Cardiff University

The centre has been awarded £1.5m over 5 years from the Healing Foundation, a national charity funding research into new surgical and psychological healing techniques for people living with disfigurement.

Each partner has also provided funding, along with the Welsh Government who are contributing £280,000.

The Healing Foundation Centre for Children’s Burns Research will focus on three key strands of research:

The clinical treatment of children with burns, including burn wound management and developing current research looking at smart dressings in partnership with the University of Bath looking at smart dressings which can indicate infection.

Psychological healing and rehabilitation lead by the Centre for Appearance Research (CAR) at UWE Bristol to research ways of improving the psychological outcome of burn injury and promote the rehabilitation of children back into school and social networks.

Prevention research building on previous research collaborations between the University of Bristol and Cardiff University to develop programmes to prevent burn and scald injuries to children.

Professor Alan Emond, a senior academic paediatrician, leads the research team, with Dr Amber Young, lead consultant for the South West UK Children’s Burn Centre at Frenchay.

Professor Emond said: “This is an exciting new multi-disciplinary research initiative, which will improve the evidence base for both the prevention and treatment of burns, and train researchers of the future.”

Dr Young said: “The support of the Healing Foundation is a huge accolade for the quality of burns care at Frenchay Hospital and of the research already being undertaken in Bristol and Bath.

“The centre will bring enhanced infrastructure and support allowing innovation and advances in the way we understand and treat burns wounds to ensure that more children can go on to live healthy, happy lives free from the physical and psychological scars of a burn injury.”

Brendan Eley, Chief Executive of the Healing Foundation said: “The team assembled to drive this research programme is world-leading and have beaten very stiff competition, from leading universities and hospitals across the UK, to win this important award.

“We are confident that the work of this centre will deliver real benefits to those children who suffer scalds and burns as well as bring new understanding to how such injuries in the future can be better prevented”.

The Healing Foundation Centre for Children’s Burns Research will move to the Bristol Royal Hospital for Children in 2014 when paediatric services move from Frenchay Hospital.

Ava’s story

The work of the Healing Foundation Centre for Children’s Burns Research will help children like 11-month-old Ava Batten who was rushed to Frenchay Hospital’s Children’s Burns Centre on May 25 with a serious burn on her chest from a cup of tea.

She is now back at home and recovering well but mum Clodagh said it was a frightening experience to see the damage that a cup of tea can do to the skin of young children.

“As parents we always keep hot drinks out of Ava’s reach because we know it can be a risk but a friend placed a cup of tea on the coffee table and Ava came along and tried to drink it, burning her lip and tipping the tea on to her chest.

“We immediately put her under a cold shower to cool the skin down but it was awful to see her skin start to blister.

“Ava is back to her normal happy self, playing and laughing. It has reaffirmed to us the danger of a hot drink around small children.”

The Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Children and Armed Conflict (SRSG CAAC), Ms. Virginia Gamba, witnessed the signature by the Government of South Sudan of an Action Plan to end and prevent all grave violations against children, the most comprehensive Action Plan signed to date by parties listed in the annexes of the Secretary-General Annual Report on CAAC. The Action Plan covering all grave violations is the first of its kind since the creation of the Children and Armed Conflict mandate.

“This long-awaited commitment to South Sudanese boys and girls by the authorities is the culmination of months of engagement with the principal parties to conflict and comes with a significant decrease in grave violations against children and steady child releases over the past year,” said the Special Representative during a four-day visit to South Sudan, her second to the country since she took office. “The Action Plan comes at a crucial moment for South Sudan, as it has the potential to build confidence between the parties in the context of the peace process and because it carries a strong message of prevention. Ultimately, peace remains the best protection possible from hostilities for boys and girls and the only road to sustainable development.”

The Ballarat East Fire Brigade Tower, designed by prominent local architect Henry Caselli, was constructed in 1864 by William Cowland, builder, and brigade volunteer. Lack of funds prevented the Engine House from being constructed to Caselli's design, the existing Engine House officially opened in 1916, recalls the earlier 1858 wooden structure lost to a fire which it replaced.

The Ballarat East Fire Station is of architectural significance demonstrating outstanding application of brick masonry as both a decorative and structural material in the octagonal tower in particular, with its combination of arcaded corbel tables and angled bricks. The tower in combination with the boldly articulated and complementary Engine House forms an unusual and sophisticated ensemble of buildings.

The Ballarat East Fire Station is historically significant as one of the few remaining examples of Nineteenth Century fire stations and is possibly the oldest in Victoria. Formed in 1856, the brigade was the first to be established in Ballarat, and was progressive in its use of new fire fighting technology being the first in Victoria to use a steam fire engine and install electric street fire alarms. The Ballarat East Fire Station is of further historical significance in its ability to demonstrate the size and pre-eminence of the Ballarat region in the state of Victoria, East Ballarat forming one of its many suburbs until the early decades of the Twentieth Century.

The Ballarat East Fire Station was open to the public as part of the 2012 Ballarat Heritage Weekend, an annual two day event when buildings and private properties not usually open to the public are made available for viewing, as a way of celebrating Ballarat’s rich heritage.

Mexico City, 24 November 2015 (PAHO)- The Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) and Mexican singer Lila Downs have launched the #ZeroMaternalDeaths campaign in order to mobilize the region of the Americas to reduce maternal deaths caused by postpartum hemorrhage, a leading cause of maternal mortality worldwide.

Countries in the region have significantly reduced maternal deaths since 1990, but more than 5,500 women die each year from complications related to pregnancy and childbirth, most of which are preventable. One in five of these deaths is due to postpartum hemorrhage.

The name of the initiative refers to the ambitious goal of reducing preventable maternal deaths to zero, which could be achieved with timely, respectful, and high-quality pregnancy and delivery care, as well as access to emergency obstetric care.

To address this problem, PAHO launched the Zero Maternal Deaths from Hemorrhage initiative in countries such as Bolivia, the Dominican Republic, Guatemala, Haiti, and Peru, where there tend to be more deaths from hemorrhage.

Lila Downs has joined the project and will now be its official spokesperson. "I am partnering with PAHO on the Zero Maternal Deaths by Hemorrhage Project to do my part in reaching out to women and their communities so that these women have healthy deliveries, and more children will grow up in the presence and love of their mothers," she said, adding: "Awareness and education can save the lives of thousands of mothers each year from needless deaths due to complications during pregnancy or childbirth."

During the presentation of the campaign, which was held at the United Nations in Mexico, Downs and Ruiz spoke of the importance of mobilizing governments, health care providers, civil society, families and communities. "We all must do more to bring health care to women and address determinants that are outside the health system, including conditions at home or in the community, culture, education or transport. We all have a role to play in saving lives," Ruiz said.

The initiative aims to promote prenatal healthcare and humanized childbirth, improve quality of care through training on the management of obstetric emergencies, provide means for the transfer of patients with complications, and ensure the availability of safe blood.

On February 2, Secretary McDonald and I will host a VA national summit on Veteran suicide prevention. Why a national summit? Because Veteran suicide impacts all Americans and needs to be addressed in a coordinated effort with government and community stakeholders. And, because all Americans, and VA in particular, have a duty to help Veterans suffering from the hidden scars of military service that lead them to think suicide is their only option. We must do better and this summit will help us to determine our future course.

The “Preventing Veteran Suicide – A Call to Action” summit will bring together VA and DoD leaders, mental health professionals, Veteran Service Organizations, Veterans and their families, and other key partners. These national leaders will direct their attention to how we can best help Veterans and their families access appropriate mental health services.

It will be an honor to welcome Susan and Richard Selke, as guests at the summit. Their son, Clay Hunt, was a Marine Corps Veteran of Iraq and Afghanistan who took his own life in 2011. Congress subsequently passed the Clay Hunt Suicide Prevention for American Veterans Act, which President Obama signed in February of last year. Their commitment to improving mental health care for Veterans like their son has been inspiring.

Also at the summit, Senator Elizabeth Dole will discuss the role of Caregivers and Dr. Ron C. Kessler of Harvard Medical School will deliver a presentation on “Researching Risk for Suicide among Veterans- What Are We Missing?” These are just two of the many supportive experts joining us for this important call to action.

We already know that America’s Veterans are at higher overall risk for suicide than the general public. Veterans suffering from conditions like posttraumatic stress, depression, insomnia, and chronic pain are particularly vulnerable. However, groundbreaking research shows us that Veterans who are fully engaged in VA care are at lower risk of suicide than those who are not. It is essential that information about resources for Veterans at risk for suicide is readily available to Veterans and those close to them.

We want Veterans to come to us, but we must also go to them and build effective networks of communication and care across communities and health organizations. We must be far more proactive and creative in our approach. I ask each of you to consider how you can make a difference.

I addressed our efforts yesterday in an op-ed that appeared in the Palm Beach Post and many other papers across the U.S. I encourage you to take a moment and read my op-ed.

I know that by discussing the many aspects of this unacceptable crisis in our Veterans’ lives, we will advance their care and treatment. I will report back to you with another blog following the summit. Thank you for all you do for Veterans each and every day.

Few situations are as frustrating as getting your car breakdown far out and about. In addition you will find the hazards of other vehicles driving by, you need to also look for a mechanic so she or he could make repairs for your vehicle. You require to understand more about preventative maintenance, auto repairs and mechanics. Otherwise, these guidelines should assist you to handle car repair problems more competently later on.

Ask the questions you might have in the shop. You need to ask things specific towards the problem which has arisen and the best way to take preventive action moving forward. Preventing problems with your car is a wonderful method for saving money.

Be certain and regularly look at your radiator. Run your vehicle for any bit, switch off the engine and after that open the hood. Never open the radiator on the running car. Find out exactly what the fluid level is (make use of a dipstick), and keep in mind that coolant should have a little bit of water added before entering your radiator.

Check online for reviews of local mechanics. This will tell you how others feel concerning the services they offer. These details may be used to locate an automobile mechanic shop which you feel is well suitable for your requirements.

Ensure you are receiving OEM parts. These are the original parts from your manufacturer. Generic parts might be cheaper, however the quality might not be exactly like OEM parts. Exactly what is a cheap option now happens to be an expensive option later.

Use the web to discover reviews with an auto mechanic shop. This can let you know concerning the public views of the skills in customer support and just how well they could solve an issue. These details is helpful while you search for the best shop to meet your needs.

Keep in mind that getting OEM parts is essential. These are the original parts from your manufacturer. While generic parts might be cheaper, you'll never understand how good the standard is. It may be a whole lot, but if you need to still replace the part, it is really not likely to be a great deal over time.

Knowing where to find the best mechanic for the auto repairs could be tricky. When you are aware the best information, it may be way easier. You will possess a benefit once you know the best things to ask and things to watch out for. Keep these details in your mind, and employ it when you experience car trouble. www.deymercspecialist.com/

Everything from baby’s milk to soap and her toys to diapers is purchased thoughtfully so that the baby doesn’t face any problems. I left because there was a single person from another group i didn't want to deal with. I'm not a prisoner to a group. I can leave if I wish. The only people upset about it are the people too immature to ask me personally why I went. I shouldn't be up at one in the morning crying over emails from people some 15 hrs later. A public declaration wouldn't have made things better. Everyone who wanted to know who was grown up enough to ask me knows why I left the group. The rest of you had no reason to take it personally. I added people as contacts so I could stay in touch. I didn't want to declare publically that I do not associate with one person who just rejoined because she acts like an immature little brat when she doesn't get her way. Because she singled me out and name called me a cheater when she lost a stupid game. That wouldn't have made things better would it? I left to avoid conflict. I'm not a prisoner but I've been told it wasn't my right to leave. I've been accused of starting trouble and drama where there wasn't any. Wiggy even called me a psycho off my meds. All I did was leave. You chose to take that personally when so many chose to take it like grown ups. It was a choice you made. No one tried or even considered ruining TGC. You people fabricated that. I just couldn't stay. It's as simple as that.

Here's the deal. I'm done feilding emails. I've had about 100 today and it's rediculous. I'm not in any groups with a particular person on my blocked list and I won't be. I don't even keep this person's contacts as my own except for 2 people I've known so long and I'm ready to let them go if this doesn't drop and remove them from any of my groups to make sure this one person never shows up where I am because I have a right to decide whom I will deal with. I've tried to be a grown up. Some of you have behaved very immaturely.

The secret to HDR photography is that you want people to say, "Woe dude--that's unreal!" And not, "Dude--that's not real!" "Unreal" is the word they use when they're trying to figure out the photo--what makes it cool--is it a photo? Is it painted? How'd it come to be--how'd you bend the light that way? "That's not real," is what they say if you have the saturation/HDR/ etc. turned up too high. :)

It was a hot summer day and we were just caught by police at our previous location. This could not prevent us from going to our last location for that day!

A pretty exciting entry. Luckily we bought disposable overalls because it's extremely dirty in here.

This enormous powerplant has been left abandoned since 2007. It was built in the early 1920's and was one of the largest coal plants in the country.

In the end of the seventies the plant expanded so they could also gain energy out of gas.

The plant suffered from negative media attention in 2006 with actions of Greenpeace and one year later the plant closed down.

The use of chemical pesticides and fertilizers leads to water pollution because contaminated water seeps into ground water and runs off into nearby water sources. Natural pesticides that you can use include insecticidal soap and pyrethrum. Natural fertilizers include wood ash, grass clippings, and animal manure.

On May 6, 2023 at 5:45PM the Los Angeles City Fire Department responded to a reported structure fire in the 640 block of S San Pedro Street in Downtown Los Angeles. The first arriving fire officer reported finding a two story commercial building with an outside fire which was extending into the building. He requested three additional task forces and the firefighters initiated an offensive operation.

Facing both rolling steel and heavy duty security doors, firefighters used rotary saws to cut their way into the building. Once inside, fire attack found the fire extending to just the area at the front of the building. The 38 firefighters on scene (prior to the assignment of the additionally requested fire companies), operating under the command of Battalion Chief Nicholas Ferrari, quickly got water on the blaze and achieved a full knockdown in 30 minutes. The fire was held at the front of the building and prevented from extending back through the structure.

One male firefighter sustained a non-life threatening leg injury while working to gain access to the building. He was transported to the hospital for care.

The fire was determined to have originated outside and extended into the building. A thorough search of the structure found no occupants inside.

NYC Residents Band Together to Prevent Eviction of Elderly Bed-Stuy Homeowner.

UPDATE: The Eviction Defense prevented Ms. Ward's scheduled eviction. She and her team have bought a few days to negotiate. Her future is still uncertain.

NEW YORK, NY – Ms. Mary Lee Ward, an 82 year-old African American grandmother who resides at

320 Tompkins Avenue, Bedford-Stuyvesant Brooklyn, is facing a foreclosure related eviction from her

home of 44 years.

The current owner, “768 Dean Inc,” holder of scores of other properties in the neighborhood, has hired

a marshal to remove her from the premises. A NYC based organization plans on being there

too.

The group, calling itself Organizing for Occupation or O4O, vowed to defend Ms. Ward and block

the eviction, even if it means engaging in non-violent civil disobedience in order to force the NYC

marshal to back down.

O4O is calling for folks to gather at 320 Tompkins Ave this Friday morning.

Ms. Ward—like so many in Bed-Stuy— is a victim of deceptive and predatory lending practices

perpetrated by banks and speculators. Her lender, Delta Funding, was shut down by the government

for preying upon elderly people of color in Queens and Brooklyn. The broker at Tarheel Funding lost

his license and was prosecuted for fraud.

But her loan lived on, bought and sold by different financial institutions over the course of ten years.

When the house was sold at auction in 2008, estate speculator “768 Dean Inc” picked it up as lucrative

asset in a changing neighborhood.

Shedding is a natural process that happens to all dogs. It is the natural way for the dog to get rid of its old hair and replace it with new, thicker hair.
