Fiz para dar de presente de natal!!

To open this morning's assembly they had JROTC cadets from the various programs present the colors as a team, not somehting they normally would do together. I just thought it was an interesting shot with Marine Corps, Navy, & Air Force all in their dress uniforms.

I also liked the live people, projections screen, and second image of the screen all in the same photo!

Following the success of Albuquerques Places of the Heart, KNME and the Albuquerque Museum present More! Albuquerques Places of the Heart. Included are places that did not make it into the first program. Memorable places such as Old Albuquerque High School, the Sunport, the Civic Auditorium and many, many others are featured. These landmarks live again through photographs, film, music, and the words of people who remember them. All communities have unique places, many which have been replaced by skyscrapers, freeways, and malls, yet they live on in memories. They hold the past, tell us who we are, tie us to our community and create a shared identity. More! Albuquerques Places of the Heart celebrates Albuquerques past, renews our common bond, educates and shares with newcomers the uniqueness and history of Albuquerque.

Presented are two images of a bronze statue at sunrise. The statue is the Rough Rider Monument that stands proudly in front of the Yavapai County Courthouse in Prescott, Arizona. Arizona Territory was established in 1863 with Yavapai and three other original counties. Prescott was quickly founded as the territorial capital. The courthouse, first built in 1878, stands in the center of a large public plaza. The current courthouse building seen here was built in 1916. Also known as the Captain William "Buckey" Owen O’Neill Memorial, the Rough Rider Monument in front of the courthouse has its own rich history which honors both of its namesakes. The man on horseback is Buckey O’Neill, a beloved local figure who served as both Prescott mayor and Yavapai County sheriff. His final service was to his country, in Cuba during the Spanish American War (1898), as captain in the First United States Volunteer Cavalry. That unit, commonly known as Theodore Roosevelt’s Rough Riders, was famous for its charge up San Juan Hill. Buckey O.Neill was killed in that campaign. In the following years, a Prescott committee planned a sculptural memorial to honor the man and the events. They choose as their artist Mr. Solon Borglum (1868-1922). Solon was the younger brother of Gutzon Borglum (1867-1941), the artist and sculptor of Mt. Rushmore. Solon had his own impressive credentials and a reputation in Europe and the United States as one of America's notable sculptors. Born in Utah and raised in the West, and eventually living in Paris and New York City, he became known as the “Sculptor of the Prairie”. His greatest acclaim was for realistic depictions of frontier life, cowboys, native Americans, and Western wildlife. When Solon was approached about the Bucky O’Neill memorial, he took a great personal interest in this project. He even visited Prescott to personally select, from the surrounding hills, a 28 ton boulder to serve as the pedestal for the statue. Commissioned in 1906, the bronze was cast in New York City, then shipped by rail to Prescott where it was unveiled on July 3, 1907, the ninth anniversary of the event it commemorated. The sculpture was acclaimed in its own day as America’s greatest equestrian statue, and Solon received a congratulatory letter from President Teddy Roosevelt.

This is indeed an inspiring statue, especially when viewed up close and from various angles which reveal the sense of motion, drama, and photographic realism that Solon Borglum so deftly captured. It is easy to find snapshot photos that show an overall view of this bronze statue on its granite pedestal. In contrast, the two photographs presented here were taken to show closeup details and drama, emphasizing the character of the rider and horse and their relationship to the courthouse building behind. These images were taken from the front, a south facing view, camera at eye level. Camera and tripod were set up well before sunrise, and various angles were tested. When the desired view was found, photos were then taken as sunrise and sunlight began to illuminate the courthouse building then the statue. Beginning farther away, as each picture was taken, the tripod was then walked a few feet closer, always maintaining a position in which the hour hand on the clock pointed between rider and horse.

Kirino handed the chocolate to the girls and promised to share it with them, even if she didn't really want to. But how could she resist them? They were her adorable little sisters, it was hard to say no to them.

Kirino: Alright, here's the next gift! My secret admirer has lovely handwriting, my name looks beautiful!

Needing no prompt Kirino began opening this gift to see what treasures were inside.

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton has been involved in some of the most egregious controversies during his political career. Most importantly, his extreme actions on women’s right to choose what to do with their bodies after the Supreme Court’s decision in Dobbs v. Jackson, the case that overruled Roe v. Wade, is an example of the extremism and polarization prevalent in American politics.

Since 2014, Paxton has been accused of several illegal activities. Texas indicted him for soliciting clients for an investment firm without registering with a state board. In 2020, a group of top aides for Paxton requested federal law officials investigate him for possible crimes, including bribery and office abuse. That same year, former executives in Paxton's office claimed they faced retaliation and intimidation after making allegations against him. In 2021, he refused to release the texts he had made during his visit to Washington, DC, for Donald Trump’s pre-insurrection rally. This led to a Texas Bar investigation of whether Paxton’s efforts to overturn the 2020 presidential election based on false fraud claims amounted to professional misconduct. A disciplinary committee for the Bar filed a professional misconduct lawsuit against Paxton for his attempt to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential elections.

In May 2023, the “Texas House committee investigating Paxton recommended that he be impeached and removed from office, citing a years-long pattern of alleged misconduct and lawbreaking. The Republican-led committee issues 20 articles of impeachment against Paxton.” The Republican-led Texas House voted 121-23 to impeach him. The state senate acquitted him. But his wife, Angela Paxton, a State Senator, refused to recuse herself. (Source: “Timeline: The legal woes of Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton”).

In December 2023, thirty-one-year-old Kate Cox, a mother of two, filed a lawsuit to get an abortion for a non-viable pregnancy. Texas law does not allow for abortions after six weeks. However, the fetus was diagnosed with full trisomy 18, which is almost always fatal before or after birth. In addition, continuing the pregnancy put Ms. Cox’s life at risk. When a Texas court ruled that she could have an abortion, Ken Paxton threatened to prosecute “hospitals, doctors, or anyone else” who assisted in providing the procedure. He threatened first-degree felonies that could result in life in prison. Ms. Cox then decided to go out of state for her procedure.

If you do not support abortions for unwanted pregnancies, that is your right. But it is not your right to demand that everyone else agree with you. And the government should have no authority to make these decisions for women. They are not chattel. Having an abortion for any reason is a difficult decision to make for any woman. But that decision should be made by her and her doctor, not the state. Paxton’s threats are inhumane. And his actions are perfect examples of the Republican Party’s drift towards authoritarianism.

Americans have lost confidence in their government. We no longer trust our legislators and the Supreme Court to solve our country’s problems: income inequality, affordable health care, a woman’s right to decide what’s best for her health, the economy, and climate change. Governance has become a series of battles. It’s no longer just political ideology. We are at war over cultural issues while our politicians ignore our basic needs. And we’ve lost faith in our country’s institutions when ersatz news organizations like Fox knew Donald Trump lost the election but promoted voter fraud to get ratings.

The morals of our GOP legislators and their sycophants are just as important as their economic policy. How can we trust a party that Alex Patton, a Florida-based Republican consultant and pollster, has characterized as a party that “has become mean and driven by emotion on whom we dislike.”? “But,” he says, “that is the driving force in American politics right now.” That is the driving force of the GOP, not the Democrats. This is not an example of the equality of “bothsidesism.”

In my essay, “ It’s Time to Release Our Own Kraken!" I outlined the history of the Republican Party’s “below the belt” tactics. They continue to be underhanded to this day. But with the low level of civility in our present polarized country, many Republican legislators now in office have hit new ethical lows.

As a visual artist who has spent over a decade creating posters about the sorry state of American political discourse, this year I began a new series of portraits, "Faces of the Republican Party." The men and women in this series deserve to be taken to task for their unwillingness to compromise, belief in conspiracy theories, and disdain for the LGBTQ+ community, women’s rights, and our children’s education. The purpose of our government is to solve our nation’s problems. It’s not a place for personal vendettas or manufactured cultural issues.

“Faces of the Republican Party” is not a partisan series of portraits. Merriam-Webster defines the word as “a firm adherent to a party, faction, cause, or person, especially one exhibiting blind, prejudiced, and unreasoning allegiance.” The people depicted in these images are the partisans. Instead, my series is a documentary and op-ed showcasing the facts in 2022. All of them had a hand in trying to overthrow the government. These images are MAGA Republicans who put their blind allegiance to Donald Trump and their careers ahead of the needs of the American people.

Republicans are perfect examples of Patton’s “driving force.” This force is dirty, mean, misogynistic, selfish, and wastes our tax dollars. These people are just a small sampling of individuals responsible for the loss of credibility and faith in America’s institutions. And worse, they couldn’t care less.

The day was Daniel`s graduation ceremony of kindergarten.

Since Daniel told us the date of it we have been awaiting for more than one month.

Whole my family were so excited to look forward to the arrival of this day.

It`s not only a milestone to Daniel but also an meaning event to us.

I got off duty earlier than usual just because

I would like to take pictures of him wearing the graduated dressing before the ceremony begin.

Doubtless there would be no chance for me to take the shot slowly in the process, I thought.

As you could see below that I asked cooperations from each of his classmates and teachers to have a picture with Daniel.

Fortunately, it didn`t cost me much effort because when I arrived the class they were together waiting for the opening.

I might be the first guest to them, so all children were very interested about me.

Meanwhile, Daniel seemd to be proud of introducing me to his classmates, then I became popular right away.

After asking the permision from the teacher in present, I led all kids to have pictures with Daniel.

It was very funny that when I begged them to have a shot with Daniel one by one, they automatically lined up.

If you were there to see such amusing situation, I bet you certainly couldn`t stop to laugh.

When I looked at their smile through my camera in each shot, something really touched my heart deeply.

I seemd to dip into their world and became the partial element of their happiness.

Probably it could be said that the interaction between us leading some chemical changes inside my body and acting my cells.

Although I had already experienced one day long work, at the moment I felt extremely energentic.

Well, I should attribute it to those innocent and cute kids.
