Os primeiros participantes do Real Thaw 2022 já aterraram em Beja
A Base Aérea N.º 11, em Beja, sede do Real Thaw 2022 (RT22), já começou a receber os primeiros participantes do exercício.
Vão estar presentes no RT22 sete países: Portugal, Bélgica, Espanha, Estados Unidos, França, Lituânia e Países Baixos, sendo esperados cerca de mil militares. Já realizaram a fase do in processing, até ao momento 378 militares.
O in processing é composto por diferentes fases administrativas que podem variar consoante as necessidades logísticas dos participantes. Este processo é importante na medida em que é a primeira impressão que todos os participantes têm da organização do exercício.
Os militares empenhados no RT22 referem que têm boas expectativas, dizendo que esperam “melhorar a interoperabilidade com os países participantes” e ainda que “é um privilégio poder trabalhar com diferentes forças armadas, observar e perceber como elas trabalham.”
Estas expectativas vão ao encontro do principal objetivo do exercício que é preparar os militares da Força Aérea, Marinha e Exército, e dos países participantes a atuar em operações conjuntas e combinadas potenciando a interoperabilidade entre todos.
Recorde-se que o exercício multinacional irá decorrer entre os dias 26 de junho e 8 de julho e conta com a participação de 54 aeronaves e forças nacionais da Força Aérea, Marinha e Exército
The first participants of Real Thaw 2022 have landed in Beja
Beja Air Base, the headquarters of Real Thaw 2022 (RT2022), has already started to welcome the first participants of the exercise.
Seven countries will be present at the RT22: Portugal, Belgium, Spain, the United States, France, Lithuania and the Netherlands, with about a thousand soldiers expected. 378 military personnel have started the in-processing phase, so far.
In-processing is composed of different administrative phases that may vary depending on the logistical needs of the participants. This process is important, as it is the first impression that all participants have of the organization of the exercise.
The military committed to RT22 say they have good expectations, saying that they hope to “improve interoperability with participating countries” and that “it is a privilege to be able to work with different armed forces, observe and understand how they work.”
These expectations are in line with the main objective of the exercise, which is to prepare soldiers from the Air Force, the Navy and the Army, and from the participating countries, to act in joint and combined operations, enhancing interoperability between them all.
The multinational exercise will take place between June 26th and July 8th and has the participation of 54 aircraft and national forces from the Air Force, the Navy and the Army.

It was part of my role, as clergy, to mix each drop of this spicy-smelling mix with ashes that are traditionally made from the previous year's palm branches. Drawing a cross on the forehead of each participant who comes forward is a symbolic act. There is no magic involved.

El gobierno ha presentado una nueva normativa sobre el jamón ibérico, con el fin de aportar información y transparencia al consumidor sobre este producto. Este nuevo reglamento y la situación de este sector fueron el tema de la charla informativa expuesta por Valeriano Ramos, Director de Calidad de Sánchez Romero Carvajal, organizada por su distribuidor en Alicante, Bardisa y Cia, en la Escuela de Catas de Alicante.
En 2008 se sacrificaron un total de 517.000 cerdos ibéricos, mientras que en 2013 la cifra fue de 139.685. La crianza del cerdo ibérico puro y la elaboración de sus jamones son procesos muy costosos y laboriosos, tal como explica Valeriano Ramos, quien cuenta con una experiencia de 26 años en Sánchez Romero Carvajal, empresa ubicada en Jabugo, Huelva y dedicada desde hace más de 130 años a la elaboración del Jamón Ibérico, famosa por su dedicación a la conservación de este producto.
El descenso de la producción de estos jamones incrementa la necesidad de que el consumidor tenga una información real sobre la calidad de los productos que se le ofrecen y este es el punto en el que el nuevo reglamento pretende incidir con un sistema de bridas de distintos colores que marcaran distintas calidades.
Desde Sánchez Romero Carvajal explican que además de trabajar con animales de raza pura ibérica, controlan todos los aspectos para lograr jamones de bellota 100% ibérico. Por ejemplo, el nacimiento de las crías está programado para que sea en agosto de forma que cuando tienen dos meses hagan su primera montera, coincidiendo cuando la Dehesa es productiva en bellotas. Dado que, por norma, no se pueden sacrificar cerdos de menos de 18 meses y la época de sacrificio es de diciembre a marzo, con esta programación se logra que el animal haga dos monteras como poco. Condiciones que luego se manifiestan en las características de los Jamones 5J (menos grasa y más rendimiento, entre otras), cuya producción es limitada, como explicó Juan José Sellés, gerente de Bardisa y Cia.
Una charla en la que el público pudo conocer más detalles sobre la situación de este sector y las dudas que se plantean ante la nueva normativa, además de degustar el Jamón Ibérico de Bellota de Sanchez Romero Carvajal acompañados por el Obalo.

Hiking in SLO has been such an integral part of my experience at Cal Poly. I love to hike at sunrise, this one of the photos from my first Bishop's sunrise hikes. It's a great way to start the day and really take in SLO. Plus, the view of Cal Poly is great.
La Fundación AXA presentó anoche en Madrid La España que necesitamos, del 20N a 2020, de la editorial Almuzara. Una obra que recoge las opiniones, diagnósticos y soluciones de ciento treinta personalidades españolas sobre los principales problemas que aquejan hoy a la sociedad y de cuya resolución dependerá el bienestar de las generaciones venideras.

Estella got a free pen from the woman working at the hotel pool. It is a special folding pen that has a picture of the Eiffel Tower on it. She thinks that is cool. Currently it travels with her wherever she goes.

there are days when everything goes right, aku wakes, eats, plays and sleeps on time, like clockwork. and then there are days when nothing i do pleases him, and i am left wondering where is the missing baby manual.
its such a power trip when he eats, burps and then falls asleep on my shoulder. i feel like the hand that rocks the cradle ;-p
also, its amazing how little of the white stuff goes in, and how much more of the yellow stuff seems to come out.
and there are times when he burps nicely and loudly, and fifteen minutes later spits out what seems like half the contents of his stomach, that i take as a personal betrayal.
am loving every minute of his babyhood though, who knew i would turn into a doting ma.
i am in danger of turning into those irritating moms that keep gushing about what a genius their baby is.
i would just be glad if my baby grows up into a kind human being, hopefully with a sense of humour. the rest is his own destiny, its between him and his god.
bought a baby carrier bag today, am dying to take him out with me when i go out.

Just a simple view from beneath the North Buckhout Street overpass on the inbound (Track 4) platform side of the station here at about MP 22.7 as measured from Grand Central Terminal on modern day Metro North's Hudson Line, the former New York Central Railroad water level route which traces its history here back to 1849. The 1913 date cast in concrete evinces the year of the NYC's massive infrastructure project that saw the line expanded to four tracks and the installation of third rail electrification 33 miles north as far as Harmon, a system that remains to this day.
I love capturing the details of railroading both past and present particularly when they are juxtaposed like this with the ancient cast date and the modern station sign.

The present building dates from 1845. It was designed by Charles Cockerell in a classical style and stands on Beaumont Street. One wing of the building is occupied by the Taylor Institution, the modern languages faculty of the university. The main museum contains the original collections of Elias Ashmole and John Tradescant (father and son), as well as huge collections of archaeology specimens and fine art. It has one of the best collections of Pre-Raphaelite paintings, majolica pottery and English silver. The archaeology department includes the bequest of Arthur Evans and so has an excellent collection of Greek and Minoan pottery
The Ashmolean Museum (in full the Ashmolean Museum of Art and Archaeology) on Beaumont Street, Oxford, England, is the world's first university museum. Its first building is sometimes attributed to Sir Christopher Wren, though there is no good evidence for this claim, and was built in 1678–1683 to house the collection or cabinet of curiosities Elias Ashmole gave Oxford University in 1677 — the ones he had collected himself as well as those he had acquired from the gardeners, travellers and collectors John Tradescant the elder and his son of the same name. The collection included antique coins, books, engravings, geological specimens, and zoological specimens — one of which was the stuffed body of the last Dodo ever seen in Europe, but by 1755 it was so moth-eaten it was destroyed, except for its head and one claw. The museum opened on 6 June 1683, with naturalist Robert Plot as the first keeper.
