what I worked on today at the HGMS clubhouse - trimming out and beginning to preform cabochons - somewhat delayed due to frozen water pipe - thawed out a couple of hours after I got there and cut some slabs, while waiting for water!

Venus, Disguised as Sailor V is preforming her signature "Crescent Beam" against a foe. This is the most fun. I've had in a while for posing a figure. I want to get Sailor Moon and Neptune for sure so hopefully I'll be able to get them soon.
I have layed the preform on top of the slab that came off the chunk, before the one the cab is being made from. It gives you some idea of the varying thickness of the agate seam that runs through this large, pancake shaped thunderegg. I will add the dimensions later.

Los Angeles County Fire preforms a rescue of a woman whos car plunged about 150+ feet over the side of Vasquez Canyon Road in Santa Clarita. Upon arrival to the driver Firefighters found her to have minor injires. After walking the patient back up the hill on a back board she was transported to the hopsital.

As mentioned, this was pretty much a weirded-out triangle in dimension that yields the thickness of the cab, so pre-forming and doming were essentially the same step, as I essentially moved the peak of the dome over as I shaped the freeform. I enjoy working stone in this way, as it's hard to "get it wrong" (as opposed to calibrated shapes, which can frustrate me to no end). So, here we have a free-hand freeform pre-form.
