I feel like I’m getting sloppy with my editing so I grabbed one of my best preforming pictures on Flickr and wanted to find out if I could edit the picture better and this was the end result.
a beautiful woodland grouse...this male was on lek and preforming his dance ritual although I did not see any hens in the time I was there....like most grouse they blend into their environment...

A leap of faith literally sends Mr. Squirrel into his High Flying Act as he jumps from one ball to the next without skipping a beat.
We seem to have a whole circus of squirrels willing to preform for us at any given moment.

Well.. the Canon seems to be preforming pretty well! I am pleased with the improvement to the focus after having it looked at!
QT RS-11's 3611 & 3606 have 244 at track speed through Leverett. on Central Vermont's 'Palmer Subdivision' on this nice June day. The old Alcos were on their las legs but they did preform quite well most days.
Anyone that is familiar with the CV knows there are plenty of grades between St. Albans and Palmer. The RS-11's sure pulled their weight and then some! This weeks theme with the Quaboag. the trains all look the same with lumber loads and the same two locomotives, but different locations and a few surprises instore!

Special guest Lenny Pickett preforms with Tower Of Power during their 50th Anniversary Show at the Fox Theater in Oakland, CA . . . Lenny was a full time member of Tower Of Power from 1973 to 1981 . . . currently, Lenny has been the musical director of the "Saturday Night Live" band in New York City for the past several years.
He is truly a master at his craft!
The Ivor Gurney hall is located in the grounds of Gloucester Cathedral, a former 19th century schoolroom (Kings School) now a preforming arts venue, The hall is named after the famous world war one poet Ivor Gurney, a former Kings school pupil.

Western Grebe Pair (Aechmophorus occidentalis)

Western Grebes partake in some of the most interesting and complex courtship displays in the birding world.
There are two main displays, which are commonly referred to as ceremonies because each involves a specific set of behaviors. The two most obvious are the Weed Ceremony and the Rushing Ceremony, but there are also less pronounced behaviors that often go unnoticed.
In this image the pair is running along the top of the water in the "Rushing Ceremony". I'm not sure if it's known to help pair bonding or if it's simply a challenge of some sort. Since two males may sometimes preform this ritual, it may be a way of attracting the female Grebes attention.
A watercolour painting produced in situ during the September Draw-Derby event, that coincided with this year's annual Feste event, the picture depicts activities focused on the Cathedral Green area of the city. Which included both participatory opportunities as well as Preforming Arts acts.

C&O 1309 preforms its second runby of the morning at the Narrows in Cumberland, MD during a Lerro charter. The haze around the engine is from the smoke on the first runby.
I spotted a couple male Sooty Grouse trying to out preform each other. They did not seem to have their hearts in it. Perhaps it is late in the breeding season and their hormone levels have dropped.
A Killdeer preforming the broken wing display to make sure I don't find the nest at Esquimalt Lagoon, BC. I didn't want to stress it unduly, so I snapped a few shots, then moved off along the trail. The nest was so well disguised among stony grass between the road and I, that I never saw it. I was hoping it would show me where the nest was if I moved far enough away, but the foot traffic on the path was busy enough, that this bird was also kept busy preforming.

The conductor on CN train No. 508 watches as they preform an air test on their locomotives before returning toward Williams Lake.
What I've been trying to do folks is to g et one in a dive, feet and talons extended but so far has eluded me, but will keep tying for sure. They are in my opinion one of the most wonderful flyers, they preform wonderfully, their the greatest parents in the bird world and weather sitting, posing, or flying they are one of the most stunning birds we have here and in great abundance, so a few more and we will move on, promise.

This species is fun to watch and photograph along the coast in winter. Sometimes when they form large feeding groups the males will show off for the females by calling and preforming some interesting courtship behavior.
Calling and posturing in a erect position are the most common and noticable but every so often one will do this curtsy or forward lean with it's tail held high in the air.
In Durham today for the final day of the brass festival. This weekend is called streets of brass. With loads of artists preforming around the city streets.
A monk helps a woman preform penance. This was taken at Angkor Wat in Cambodia, on a sweltering day, so being doused with water would not be the worst thing in the world. Angkor is, perhaps, the most extraordinary ancient site in all of Asia (there are more pictures of it to come), but it is also overwhelmed by tourists. We had just come from the grandest of the temples, Angkor Wat itself, and had bought fresh green coconuts to get re-hydrated. Behind the souvenir and snack stalls was this small local temple, where village life was going on unaffected by, and unknown to, the millions of foreigners all around it.
I like this image because of the story implicit in it. There is a power and gender and cultural dynamic at play that is challenging to the viewer. I like the water splashing off the steps, and I find intriguing the woman standing in the shadows. To me she personifies judgement, the need to maintain the status quo by making sure her own rigid morality is maintained.

During the years of Boston's 'Big Dig' project the need for sand was at it's peak. For many years the Northcoast ran 6 to 7 days a week to meet the demand. Many Sunday's my good friend Steve Carlson and myself would take a ride to Ossipee and preform the white knuckle chase. Seen here is four GP9's in the eighth notch approaching Browns Ridge rd.

Some 2,000 years ago Jesus was arrested while praying with his disciples in the Garden of Gethsemane. We now call that day Maundy Thursday and the next day we now call Good Friday when Jesus was sent before Pontius Pilate by the Jewish religious leaders who felt threatened by his teaching. He was humiliated, brutally beaten, and finally crucified for teaching to the masses, giving them hope and preforming miracles. Think about this for a minute, the son of God, creator of all creation was nailed to a cross and died for us that we may have eternal life. Fernando Ortega in his song “Sing to Jesus” expressed it this way. ”Come and see look on this mystery the Lord of the universe nailed to a tree. Christ our God spilling his holy blood bowing in anguish His sacred head…”
On Sunday Christians around the world will celebrate the empty tomb knowing that through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ every person on this earth has been freely given the gift of eternal life.
The Lord of the Universe came to this earth to serve, not to be served. He suffered and died that we may spend eternity with our God the creator of Heaven and Earth. Use your God given gifts to serve others as Jesus served us. Make this a good day for someone you know or maybe even someone you don’t know yet.

I never realized the long-billed curlews have such beautiful underwing feathers. Curlews preform courtship displays in which they rapidly flap their wings, exposing these feathers.
A pencil sketch of the 2Faced Dance Company, doing their routine during the 2022 Derby Feste event. They were one of a number of acts preforming on Saturday afternoon, in Plaza in front of the historic Silk Mill (Derby's Museum of Making). Most of the drawing was completed during the show, but had to add the dancers later in the studio, using my photos of the action, as they were moving too quickly.
Along with many others I've met, Autumn has always been my preferred season to preform my photography on account of the crisp light, unique skies, and cooler days. On one of those evenings back in October of 2013, nearly everything came together on this B27 coming into Stockton behind a five pack of SD40's. But of course the leader is one of the DME "Red Bombs" now again under CP ownership. At the time this consist was a hard pill to swallow, and to this date the leader still lacks plenty appearance wise, but with the current state of railroads in 2023 I'd go back in a heartbeat over the filthy garbage power ruling the mainlines today.
After an afternoon of dumping westbound along the Galt, a CP Herzog ballast train sits tied down in the Orr's Lake siding. The crew hops out of lead locomotive KCS 3928 and preforms a roll by inspection of CP H88, led by a GP20C-ECO. H88 is en route to Guelph Jct to interchange with GJR before running back west to London. The ballast train would finish dumping along the Galt sub the next morning before rocketing back to Toronto.

Still not preforming at my best, still don't have the time to adventure like I want to. I mean I'm still working hard, just not as much as I'd like with photography. Who's excited for a double shift tomorrow! This kid. Mind you it means I can't focus on the picture life like today.

"A Midsummer Night's Dream" was double cast this year, with Mika playing Lysander on opening night and Mustardseed the following day. My version has Mika playing both roles at the same time. Hey...granpa's artistic licence!
