This juvenile red-tailed hawk looked so silly as he/she worked so hard at preening that it hardly noticed me photographing it. With a downy top knot, and feathers unfurled, he was caught in the business of keeping those feathers fit.
It's been a long time since I've been to my local nature reserve but so worth my visit today to see this young male Kingfisher

The mirrored effect owls are meant to dissuade the pigeons from the small bird feeder...but no!
I now see this bright spark is preening himself in the mirror!! lol
This Common Loon allowed us to get very close in a boat as he and another loon nearby continued preening his feathers...what a loon show and what a privilege to have been there on the water with this bird. No cropping in this shot.
