I helped host a week of 24-7 prayer. It ended on Sunday. This was our second week this year and I think we're getting a bit addicted.
Here are some of the prayers/prophecies/artwork from the room.

Devil's Tower is a sacred place to the Native American's and certain times of the year they come here and have a ceremony, saying prayers, etc. We came right after they were there and saw many, many prayer cloths tied to branches throughout the park. I sure would have liked to have witnessed the ceremony, but have a feeling the park may be closed to visitors on that day.

This is one of the largest monasteries located at a place called Dali which is 5kms away from Darjeeling. It was built during the time of Kyabje Thuksey Rimpoche in 1971. He was considered a well-known Religious teacher during his time. The monastery belongs to the Kargyupa Sect. it also serves as the headquarters and residence for Drukchen Rinpoche the XII, who is the supreme leader of the kragyuga sect.
The structure is built in the traditional Tibetan style. The building offers a splendid view when one looks at it from a distant. The colors used in the walls are bright and bold which depicts the life and teachings of Lord Buddha.Currently there are around 200 monks and disciples from the nearby Himalayan region who live and study in the monastery. A small library containing Buddhist scripture and other literary works on the philosophy of life is present inside.
The perfect time to visit the monastery is during early mornings or at the evening when the prayer session is going on. The prayer timings are from 5am to 6am and 5pm to 6.30pm. In 1993, his holiness the Dalai Lama had inaugurated the recent complex of the monastery when he had come for his religious teachings on Buddhism in the region.

Here is the prayer shawl in progress. It is a checker/basket weave pattern that I am enjoying knitting. With each stitch in the three stitch repeat I chant "Maiden, Mother, Crone" Which means to me: Maiden of Light, Mother of Love, Crone of Wisdom. Near the middle most stitch (because it is an odd number of stitches) is my Infinite Healer Stone .
When I reach it I say a prayer of blessing that has come to me through meditation: "Powers that Be bless this shawl through me. May it provide comfort and warmth when it is sought in the coming healing months ahead for ****." I wanted a prayer that was "non-denominational" as while our beliefs are similar they are not the same.
