Paro and surrounding area

Was experimenting in Aperture, decided to convert an old photo I'd taken of my mothers hands as she was praying.

Used Aperture to adjust the exposure, sharpen areas of the image, and bring some more detail. Quite happy with the result.

Submitting this as #ds37 for @dailyshoot. The title of the assignment was: "Hands can tell a lot about a person: smooth, rough, dirty, or wrinkled. Make a photo of hands that tell a story."

during a walk in Shanghai I found this tree. Lot of prayer (I guess) dancing in the winds from the branches.

We'd appreciate your prayers for 2 year old Daphno and 7 month old Kendly. Both these little boys are having a tough time these days. They are both on IV's and not feeling well at all. Daphno has a very severe case of TB, and is being treated for an infection as well. Kendly is being treated for both an infection and malaria and malnutrition. So thank you for lifting them up in prayer. Other than the two of them most everyone is doing fine here at the HOH. The students are working through their exams, thank you for your prayers for them. Most have brought back good reports, feeling that they have done well...I guess we'll see when the grades come in, but it's good to hear they feel they've done well.

Last night we had quite the commotion on our yard. At about 9 pm a huge pig came in through one of the gates, and it was quite an ordeal getting him to leave again. It was hilarious watching all the kids trying to steer the pig in the direction of the gate again, half of them were scared of it! I wished I had a video camera to record the event, there sure is never a dull moment around here!

The bell tower on the Crystal Cathedral campus has a circular prayer room on the ground level. This statue of Jesus crying out to God is in the center of the room, and it slowly rotates on its base. I don't know how well you can see it, but his hand is reaching out of the top, and his torso and head are kind of etched into the block of glass. It is a very cool room.

The messages on the board were very moving.

Temples are great places to sit and watch people. I find it amazing to see people from all walks of life gravitating here to pay their respects, offer thanks or to ask for something. Whether its an occasion of joy or sadness, the temple remains as it is... a solemn place.

UPDATED! I did not like the fact that the word ALONE was all by itself at the bottom of the bookmark. I added a NEW bookmark that has the words NOT ALONE together at the bottom. To see and use the NEW bookmark, please go:

You have permission to share the link to this bookmark, but not the bookmark itself. You do not have permission to sell the bookmark. It is to be given freely.

You may print this out to attach to prayer shawls you make and give away. It looks really nice printed on cardstock, hole punched, and ribbon added through the hole. :D

To do this, look above the image. Click on ALL SIZES. You want to make sure you are on the biggest size (which is 2"x6"). Then you can download the image and print.

The windows in the waiting room of the pantry overlook the St. Vincent de Paul community garden. Families can sit and survey the garden. In the middle is a brick prayer labyrinth created by students from Bishop Hartley High School. Telerski says the prayer labyrinth is symbolic: "Once you go in you end up stuck at the middle and need a way back out. You know a lot of the people we serve are in the middle of that labyrinth. They're stuck, out of options and need a way out. We provide that."
