For Brandon
A preparatory contest is afoot. Here I've tapped +1/+2 cross-eyedness by summoning Sub-Zero, Poison Ivy and the National Geographic Afghan girl. Prepare for pwnage!!!
After nervously attempting my first graft last weekend, I took some branches from our chopped up Christmas tree and practiced my whip and tongue grafting. I still don't know if I'm doing it perfectly correct, but here are some close-ups of my grafts.
I pulled the two pieces of branches apart a bit for this photo so you can see the actual cuts.

I have a pretty big car shoot coming up and really wanted to practice on some detail shots, so might as well shoot what you got right?? Well, my truck was totally dirty and not very photogenic! Luckily Mariellen had just gotten her car washed, so even though it's a 140K mile, 8 yr old car, it became my reluctant model!! I must say I had a really fun time just shooting our old car in my garage, it was really challenging but also rewarding when things worked out!! Now I am trying to think of friends with "cooler" cars so I can practice some more!! :-)
Credit due: I can say I was 100% inspired by one of my favorite photographers for this shoot, Tim Wallace is a UK based commercial photographer that shoots for clients like Aston Martin, Bentley, Jaguar, Audi, and Range rover among others, I never get tired of looking at his work, you really should check it out, you will almost certainly want to go wash your car and try shooting it after checking out his gallery!! I just finished watching his new classes on Kelby Training and after this practice I already feel more confident for my upcoming shoot!

I’ve decided to go back to basics with my cornet practice. I’ve developed some bad habits over the years and use far too much pressure when playing. This affects my upper range and stamina and buggers up any lofty aims I may have of sounding like Wynton Marsalis.
While my natural talent falls way short of Wynton I am determined to use all this free time I’ve suddenly found myself with to have a go at improving my embouchure. These lip flexibility exercises should help, if I can keep it going.
Band is cancelled for the next few weeks (and months?) so this is a good time to do this. Let’s hope it works
This is the practice ground set up for the competitors at Lord's cricket ground during the London 2012 Olympic Games.
It was set up parallel to the actual shooting field so that the conditions would be as similar as possible to the actual competition.
