really trying to develop a very Carl Liu-esque style (Carl is probably my favorite product design illustrator)
rough light pencil traced loosely with ink and then erased, scanned and rendered in photoshop. this one took about an hour collectively, but i'd like to get really fast at it. like maybe a page full of these in an hour. (unlikely)

5inch cherry ripe chocolate mud cake with chocolate buttercream and fondant( thanks Effie). I just wanted to practice the royal icing dots as I have never done them before. I have a wedding cake coming up in Sept and the bride wanted something more than just plain fondant. I already had the flowers they were pink and white but with a little gold luster dust It changed the whole look of them. TFL
The snow will be with us soon...

Woke up this morning for my once a week workout, but was still just a tad sick, so I didn't go.
Instead, I took Ayu out for some bokeh practice.
Now i know why Grebes fly as little a possible. After 2 weeks i finally got to see one take off and fly. It took half the length of the pond running and flapping like crazy to get airborne, then it circled the pond twice to gain enough altitude.
This was just practice for a young one, also practice for me, their faster than a black duck.
If the minimum shutter speed for birds is 1/1000 of a sec then 1/1500 is a good starting point for these guys, my guess would be closer to 1/4000, my cameras shutter speed doesn't go that high.
I was asked to take some pics in a ballet class. I have already spent 2 days there, taking classical ballet and modern, and finaly point.
Its great. First being able to just be there officialy and go anywhere (well almost....) and take the pics, is great. But then there is the movement and the faces and all.
I think it will be a set all by itself. And I will go there again.
Its a wonderful eperience.

British Rail built ninety-six of these vehicles between 1959 and 1977 at Wolverton and York, to several similar designs, all based on the Mark 1 coach design. They were numbered in the range 80300–80395. The earliest vehicles built featured catching nets and collection arms, to allow mail bags to be exchanged without the train needing to stop, a practice which continued until 1971. Following the Great Train Robbery, vehicles from 80319 onwards featured a revised design with smaller windows.
In the early 1970s, British Rail introduced the TOPS classification system. Vehicles were given the TOPS code NS, followed by an A if they were air-braked.
80337 was built at York in 1969.
My girl and her dad have been spending a lot of time together practicing. Practicing soccer, practicing kickball and practicing talking about life in general. They don't always get along these two. I think it might have to do with her hormones and his lack of understanding, but they are working on it. I have been watching them lately as they have been practicing and they are learning to know each other better. They are developing a bond and I love watching the two of them grow closer together. I guess it's like everything else. Relationships take practice and hard work, and that's exactly what they've been doing. After all, practice makes perfect!
