For the third consecutive year Des Moines Public Schools hosted more than 2,100 educators from across Iowa and other states at its 3rd annual Summit on School Climate and Culture on August 13-14 at the Iowa Events Center. The summit covers several areas including; the latest research and best practices for improving student behavior, learning how a multi-cultural classroom can be an asset, and identifying the social and emotional needs of students. Keynote speakers at the event included W. Kamau Bell, Dr. Olga Acosta Price, Dr. Christopher Emdind and Brian Mendler.
just practicing with photoshop today. I finally got my color select action to work properly and since I have nothing better to do, I decided to work on this.
These boys and young men are practicing musicians. They use various kinds of drums, sing, clap their hands in a joyful rythm. Try and imagine how loud this is, in this narrow street of Tetouan. It was also fun to see all these smiles, getting ready for the circumcision ceremony that took place the day after.
Yesterday was a bad day. I couldn't imagine seeing myself with any amount of love today. But I sat in the sunshine and breathed and when I opened my eyes the world seemed brighter, and so did I.
during the nuremberg trials, the axis leaders were specifically charged with crimes that the allied powers did not commit. prior to world war two, the official policy of targeting civilians by massive ariel bombardment was perceived as illegal and barbaric. these photos, taken by my grandfather, as he served as an aerial navigator for the allies serves to demonstrate the level of the savagery committed by both sides. the planes were sometimes miles up, and, lacking precision guidance systems were almost entirely unable to predict where their bombs would fall. i am a pacifist. i abhor the murder of any living thing. i posted these photos because they are a powerful and chilling reminder of the casual stance that our government (i am from the united states) takes when it comes to taking innocent life. the people not pictured in the photos who were on the receiving end of these weapons were mothers, fathers, children. we are all human beings. we are all sacred. peace.

Up on Sand Flats east of Moab, we had just enough time after the drive to walk around the Slickrock Bike Trail's "Practice Loop".
Meant for beginning mountain bikers to get the feel of biking on slickrock, it was a fine reintroduction for us to get the feel of hiking on slickrock, too. And the scenery wasn't bad :^)
