I'm too scared to start doing the short row on my sock yet! So I'm practicing on some spare yarn Kate gave me and writing down all of my wraps.

Practice Day at Bingera Weir, NIKON D7000, 400, 4 & 1/1000

I'm practicing drawing with charcoal. So far, the value is the most difficult part because charcoal is very dark and I have to be able to control it. I'm always scared to shade really dark because I know I won't be able to go back. What I'm doing is sketching it out first and then going over it with charcoal. if I don't sketch it out first and freehand with charcoal, my drawings would be a disaster. But right now, my focus is to practice value and to work on more realistic features. I will apply all this practice and development of techniques to my future studio piece.
