it was Sunday morning, while others having their coffee and bread with sari kaya..this man take his first pole position at Bugis Street.Then back to sleep again.
The Leipzig Salient was a German defensive position built in 1915 on the Somme in France, during the First World War, opposite the village of Authuille which contained the Leipzig Redoubt on its west face. The position was to the south-west of the later Thiepval Memorial, north-east of the La Boisselle–Authuille and Thiepval–Aveluy crossroads. The German front line bulged around a quarry, which the Germans fortified and enclosed with Hindenburg Trench, which had been dug further back across the chord of the salient. The Wundtwerk Redoubt (Wonderwork to the British), lay beyond on a reverse slope. Nab Valley lay on the east side, Thiepval was to the north, with the fortified Mouquet Farm and the village of Pozières to the north-west.
On the First day on the Somme (1 July 1916), the Leipzig Salient was attacked by the 1/17th Highland Light Infantry (17th HLI) of the 32nd Division. The battalion crept forward at 7.23 a.m., ready to rush the German defences as soon as the British barrage lifted at 7:30 a.m. The Scots advanced until 30–40 yd (27–37 m) short of the German front line, rushed forward to the redoubt when the barrage lifted and caught the German garrison while they were sheltering in their dugouts in the quarry at the centre of the redoubt. The Troops of the 17th HLI pressed on to the next objective but were forced back to the Leipzig Redoubt and consolidated with troops of the 2nd King's Own Yorkshire Light Infantry.
The Coventry Canal Basin sits in an elevated position terraced into the hillside just to the north of the City Centre ring road. The basin locality contains the highest density of historic canal-side structures within the proposed Conservation Area and includes the Leicester Row Warehouses, the Weighbridge Office, the Coal Vaults, and the Canal House along with the Draper’s Field Bridge. The only significant loss from the group is the Coventry Canal Company offices that would have stood at the top of Bishop Street, but which were demolished to allow for the construction of the ring road in the late 1950s.
The distinctiveness of the Canal Basin topography can be ascribed to the cut-and-fill earthmoving operation that was required for its construction. The slope to the north was cut away, creating an upper terrace retained by the brick wall which contains the coal vaults. Some of the earth was re-deposited down slope to extend the terminus of the canal which explains why the canal sits above the level of the neighbouring ring road
Thomas Yeoman House and John Sinclair House were built in the 1990s as part of a regeneration scheme for the basin. Both buildings are of brown brick and designed in a vernacular / industrial style and blend in well with the scale of the original canal buildings and make good use of the changes in level around the basin to add visual interest. The more recent block added in 2004 in a contemporary style is less successful because of its size and the materials used. The scale of the Canal Basin buildings is in stark contrast to the neighbouring high rise blocks that surround the basin. The historic and modern buildings along with good quality paving and street furniture combine well to give the basin a pleasant feeling of enclosure with views along the canal closed by the Draper’s Field Bridge. The views looking out of the basin area to the west are less attractive with poor quality 1960s buildings along St Nicholas Street and St Columba’s Close with the exception of the historic Admiral Codrington public house. There is, however, a very important vista of the City Centre and the spires from the basin entrance on St Nicholas Street.
NS C40-9 #8841 leads a manifest south out of New Paris on the Marion Branch. At Milepost 9, where we shot this train, was an extremely rare example of a Pennsylvania Position Light with the single-color stop aspect, as opposed to the Conrail addition of red aspects to the Pennsy signals. Although this clearly isn't located on the Pennsylvania system (this is Big Four trackage), it is almost impossible to find a Pennsy position light in this part of the country with the single-color aspect.
The position of the SS Rotterdam is a little distance away from the city centre, but it takes just a few minutes to reach there by water taxi.
There was not the slightest movement in the ship, not even the very gentle rocking which I remember from QE2 in port. She is very solidly fastened to the stakes holding her in place and only rises and falls a few centimetres with the tide.

Cheyenne Wells is located in eastern Cheyenne County and serves as that county's seat. It is positioned about halfway from the Oklahoma Panhandle and the Nebraska Panhandle placing it smack dab in the middle of the plains of Eastern Colorado.

This is a photograph from the first running of the newly situated Irish 3/4 Marathon (formerly the Athlone 3/4) which was held in Longwood, Enfield, Co. Meath, Ireland on Sunday 9th of October 2016 at 10:00. The event is positioned perfectly in the calendar as a key training race before the Dublin City Marathon at the end of the month. This year was the first year that the event was held in Longwood, Co. Meath which is now well known for its hosting of the Longwood 10KM/5KM annual races and a host venue for East of Ireland Marathon series marathons on a bi-annual basis. The race started and finished at Longwood GAA club just outside the village of Longwood. It followed an anti-clockwise course around the beautiful picturesque countryside of south Meath. The course went through the townlands of Longwood, Castlerickard, Killyon, Hill-of-Down, Anneville and Ashfield Clonard, Blackshare, Stoneyford and back to Longwood. The river Boyne and Blackwater were crossed as was the Royal Canal and the Dublin-Sligo Railway line at Hill-of-Down. Overall this was a very different course to the previous years in Athlone. The overall elevation of the course works out at 3/4 of the total elevation of the Dublin Marathon course. What most stood out about today's race was the course and how the countryside around it looked on a beautiful almost perfect Autumn morning. The organisation of the race was first class with every detail taken care of from the start until the finish.

I ran in the race - but my photograph doesn't appear here in your Flickr set! What gives?
As mentioned above we take these photographs as a hobby and as a voluntary contribution to the running community in Ireland. Very often we have actually ran in the same race and then switched to photographer mode after we finished the race. Consequently, we feel that we have no obligations to capture a photograph of every participant in the race. However, we do try our very best to capture as many participants as possible. But this is sometimes not possible for a variety of reasons:
►You were hidden behind another participant as you passed our camera
►Weather or lighting conditions meant that we had some photographs with blurry content which we did not upload to our Flickr set
►There were too many people - some races attract thousands of participants and as amateur photographs we cannot hope to capture photographs of everyone
►We simply missed you - sorry about that - we did our best!
You can email us petermooney78 AT gmail DOT com to enquire if we have a photograph of you which didn't make the final Flickr selection for the race. But we cannot promise that there will be photograph there. As alternatives we advise you to contact the race organisers to enquire if there were (1) other photographs taking photographs at the race event or if (2) there were professional commercial sports photographers taking photographs which might have some photographs of you available for purchase.
