El Castillo de Castellar se alza sobre un cerro de empinadas laderas en pleno Parque Natural de Los Alcornocales, entre los ríos Guadarranque y Hozgarganta, divisando el embalse del Guadarranque y los bosques de sus laderas, así como Gibraltar y el estrecho, a las afueras del actual emplazamiento de la localidad de Castellar de la Frontera, en Cádiz.
Esta fortaleza árabe construida en el siglo XIII se encontraba en una posición de frontera, defendiendo el reino de Taifas, de Algeciras. Fue antigua residencia de los Condes de Castellar.
Su planta es de forma irregular y posee un recinto amurallado con barbacanas, cubos, torres de flanqueo y torres de ángulo cuadradas y circulares, algunas de ellas coronadas con almenas. Destacan las torres de su entrada, con elementos defensivos como las barbacanas que defienden el acceso del castillo, perforadas con saeteras y una puerta en recodo abierta bajo un bello arco peraltado enmarcado por otro de herradura.
Desde el pequeño patio de armas se accede al caserío interior, con casas blancas y calles estrechas y sinuosas cuajadas de flores. Entre los edificios destacan el alcázar de los Condes de Castellar, con la torre del Homenaje, el Ayuntamiento y la Iglesia del Divino Salvador, de estilo barroco. Más bien parece una alcazaba, en la que el castillo sería la zona militar separada de la zona administrativa y civil.
Del Castillo de Castellar Viejo se conserva en buen estado la entrada, con arcos de herradura, que daba paso al recinto dentro del cual se cobija el poblado al amparo del castillo. Fue restaurado parcialmente en el año 1979.
Fue declarado Bien de Interés Cultural con la categoría de Monumento en 1949.

Many of you that follow my stream, will note that once in a while I will use the term ''strike a pose'' to folks I run into out in the street. I don't often post many of these types of pictures because I personally don't find them that interesting compared to the other more interesting things L.A. has to offer....But in truth, I have hundreds, perhaps thousands of similar photos like these here that I have taken over the past 5-6 years that I have never processed. But in truth, 95% of my encounters are just like these. Pleasant and fun, but not exciting. What I try and do is capture what is already there in front of me. I try and capture what my eye sees.... I thought I would post these images up that I shot yesterday, not long after I was given the L.A. signal for hello in my previous post....8~)
My camera is always out in the open. Never sneaky and very obvious i am out and about to make pictures. In fact, I use prime lenses that use filters from 62mm to 82mm and all my DSLR's have grips on them. In other words, there is no hiding them.

This is our friendly female Osprey that I thought was missing but she's been here all along but just not perched in her usual accessible place! She in her very accessible tree near the park on Bay Area and was willing to do a bit of posing for me! When I reached for the paddle to back off a bit she headed for the other side of the bayou! Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving for those that celebrate it! I'll try to catch up as quickly as possible! Photo taken on Armand Bayou!

Pose finale : lors de ce spéctacle de danse, ce jeune danseur était très majestueux. J'ai pris de nombreuses photos dont une partie est dans ma galerie (ce sont les toutes premières que j'ai téléchargées). Je vous invite d'ailleurs à les voir par curiosité ...!
J'ai pris une série de photos en rafale à ce moment-là du final. Il se trouve que dans la série, cette-ci a été prise juste au moment ou un spectateur sur le coté droit devant moi a photographié avec son flash, ce qui donne une scène très éclairée avec les ombres des danseuses projetées au mur ! Etonnant, non ?

I took a series of photos continuously at the time for the end and this one was taken just when a viewer on the right side in front of me photographed with its flash, resulting in a bright scene with these shadows projected on the back wall! Surprising isn't it?
