This adorable face is on a wall on Rivington Street between Chrystie Street and the Bowery. Spotted last night walking through the neighborhood.

It's hard to close businesses for a while, it's harder to close caskets on loved ones forever.
I've already donated to several campaigns for justice and for the BLM movement. I'm going to vote today. I'm going to see what else my community needs from me while I'm outside.
With that being said.. Do anything you can and feel comfortable doing at this time. We are all dealing with personal trauma inside our own minds, hearts, and homes. I'm not condemning anyone for not being able to mentally or even physically handle what's going on. Don't be embarrassed or scared if all you can do is share a post.

Compact shrike of forest edges and openings, as well as well-wooded parks and plantations, from lowlands up into mountains. Quite colorful, with a brick-red back, dark gray crown, and broad black mask, but can be difficult to spot when on well-shaded perches below the canopy. Long-tailed Shrike and Tiger Shrike can be similarly colored, but the former is much larger with a noticeably longer tail, and the latter has a paler gray crown and prominent dark barring. Song quite musical, consisting of varied musical notes and noisy chatters. Call is a repetitive dry chatter: “tchchchchch.” (eBird)

We visited an army camp on the border between Thailand and Myanmar. Through the fences marking the no-man's-land between the two countries, we could see this little shrike perched just on the Myanmar side of the border. The camp had sandbagged gun ports but there seemed to be little enmity between the two nations as they were enjoying a day of friendly sport between the two camps.

There seem to be lots of baby bluejays around, or at least lots of ""mama, food please" squawking going on these days in my backyard. The "babies" are almost as big as the adults and they are just learning to find their own food.

Striking and unmistakable in most of range; the only sapsucker in eastern North America. Long, solid white wing patch helps distinguish it from Downy and Hairy Woodpeckers. Adult male has red cap and throat; females are similar but with white throat; juveniles are messy brownish-gray overall. The namesake yellow belly can be difficult to see and is sometimes almost absent. Often looks disheveled, especially in fall and winter. Compare with the extremely similar Red-naped Sapsucker, which barely overlaps in range. Note male Yellow-bellied has complete black border around red throat patch, and the white markings on the back are more extensive and messy. Occurs in almost any wooded habitat, breeding in the boreal forest across Canada and wintering as far south as Costa Rica. Like other sapsuckers, drills rows of sap wells into tree bark. Listen for irregular drumming (like morse code) and various nasal calls. (eBird)

This is just one of the birds that we saw along the McKenna Trail. This female bird seems unusual to me as she appears to have less red on her forehead than I am used to seeing, but Sibley's Field Guide suggests that very occasionally a sapsucker might have an all-black cap. Maybe this is just a minor plumage variation.

Cleopatra’s Island, also known as Sedir Adasi sits on the gulf of Gokava in the Marmaris peninsula. A popular destination steeped in urban legends of romance and passion, its name stems from a love affair between two of history’s most prolific people.
Called Kedreae in ancient times, present day myths refer to when the exotic queen of Egypt, Cleopatra spent time in the region. Although the natural landscapes and turquoise-blue sea captivated her, she was missing her homeland.
