Medium-size, fairly common woodcreeper of tropical lowlands. Favors forest edge, open woodland, hedges with tall trees. Feeds on trunks and larger branches, often spiraling up one trunk and flying low to the next tree. Note the relatively slender and slightly decurved bill, distinct but fine pale streaking on the head and back. Easily confused with larger Ivory-billed Woodcreeper, which is more of a forest bird and has a bigger and straighter bill. (eBird)

Another from the archives. We've seen this interesting woodcreeper from Belize all the way to Ecuador, but the only photo comes from one of our first encounters. Like woodpeckers and treecreepers, woodcreepers cling to the trees and tend to blend right in, making them difficult to see and harder to photograph. This one, though, lived on the grounds of our lodge so I had a couple of opportunities to photograph him.

I have to be honest. These are tough little flowers to photograph. So pretty but so damn small.
Love them.
please don't say you are tired of the "sea" photo as I went to the real sea that day
which I longed for and I was so excited! (there is no any beautiful sea near my house).
I want to say big THANK YOU to the friend who took me there by her car and this little angel
who gave me a lot of smile all day!

So they were sitting in the car talking.
He turned to her and began to tell a story of this and that, of pros and cons, of blacks and whites.
She listened for a while then her gaze turned uncontrollably skyward.
"I've never seen the sky like that...It seems to be split, right down the middle..." she said.
There was a brief pause.
"Sorry for interrupting...Please, continue..."

Small brownish wren, usually rather plain overall, with dark barring on the wings and tail. Lacks white eyebrow. Occurs in a variety of open or semiopen habitats, including suburbs, parks, rural farmland, and woodland edge with thick tangles. Larger, longer tailed, and generally slightly paler than Winter and Pacific Wrens. Often perches conspicuously when singing, but otherwise fairly secretive. Listen for bubbly song of chatters and trills, and harsh scolding calls. (eBird)
---------------
One of my favourite birds! For such a small bird they are both incredibly vocal and very fierce. This one was singing up a literal wind storm but didn't seem the least fussed about the wind mussing his feathers.

Starting to get some control over this type of editing / processing, but I still have a long way to go ... :-)

Large, black, crow-sized bird with decurved bill and deep red eye. In flight, white in primaries very evident. Struts around in family groups on the ground in open woodland areas around southeastern and eastern Australia. A variety of calls includes a plaintive, descending whistle. (eBird)

Although totally unrelated to crows, these choughs are just as shy. Everytime we came across a group, they would take off, much like this one is doing. Big, noisy and beautiful, they were fun to watch.
The White-winged Chough is one of only two species in their family. The other is the Apostlebird which looks very different to this bird. They are not related to the Choughs of the northern hemisphere.

Photography has taught me to spot innocence. I am so grateful to my camera for so many things I learn everyday, about people, lives and the beauty of it all.
