I saw a desert paintbrush flower with incredible red color when we were driving Titus Canyon in Death Valley. As I was walking to the flower, I heard something move on the ground. This is what I heard. Luckily for me he was moving away from me and didn't want to confront me. Whew!

Please note the ever present pest on the bud: Lilioceris lilium. That insect is a real killer in our conditions and the damage on the leaves is all due to this enemy numbre one.

Getting back into taking pictures for myself is a process to me. Since starting at a University, I have had to take pictures for class and it has to be under certain guides and done by a certain time. It is not a bad thing, I have learned so much in a small amount of time and have tried things with photography that I would have never tried before. Yet when I am in school and when it starts to end the semester, I cannot wait to get out. So I have gone out to take pictures two times and I feel that I am getting back into it, I just need more practice! This summer is completely dedicated to working on my photography constantly. Here is one of the photographs that I took from the second shoot.
