This panel of readout dials is on the USS Torsk SS-423 in Baltimore, MD. Since the first time that I toured this submarine as a kid, I've been fascinated by it and have visited it a handful of times since. On this trip, I didn't have much time, but I wanted to snag some interior shots of it with my D90. There is just so much inside that sub, I have no idea how seamen knew what was what. And that's on a sub that was commissioned in 1944! The inventiveness and ingenuity that it took to develop such a machine is what gets me excited......not the part about this being a machine of war. I'm sure I'll visit this boat again someday. It always keeps me coming back.

it’s that time of year again where i have a rant about 'naughty photographers'
basically while the seals have their pups at donna nook photographers are asked NOT TO go on the beach and instead stay at the reserve
iv campaigned with the lincolnshire wildlife trust for years about this - as there is evidence to show that disturbing them on the beach leads to mothers abandoning pups, and deaths
from last year:
“the request for photographers to stay off the beach seems to be working very well this year – only four people have gone out in total . . . a few people have tried to venture out, but this weekend the tides were in our favour . . . so a clean sheet for what was last year our worst weekend.
so that’s 1,500+ in 2009 before the request, 300+ in 2010 when we started, 150 last year and only 4 so far this year

Sky and Clouds Colors before Sunrise
There are ten main types of cloud which can be separated into three broad categories according to the height of their base above the ground: high clouds, medium clouds and low clouds.
You have only to look up into the sky to try your luck at weather forecasting. Clouds give us a clue about what is going on in our atmosphere and how the weather might change in the hours or even days to come. Each type of cloud forms in a different way, and each brings its own kind of weather.

This image comes from a series taken at Wakehurst Place, West Sussex - it's a National Trust property with botanical gardens, manor house, huge grounds including forests and lakes, and is also home to the millennium seed bank project.
Edd, Haydee and I were lucky enough that they were holding a festival all weekend, and that festival included a Birds of Prey display. This is the Falconer and owner of these amazing birds. I don't like animals being held captive but he lets his out to hunt and they apparently always come back. This Peregrine was being particularly playful with the owner, it gave me a really good impression of how well his birds are looked after. I believe he works for a sanctuary that he was collecting for, so fair play to him!

Ella looked so cute in her hat and glasses, and I wanted her to pose by the window. I told her to smile, so of course she got all serious. I thought she kind of looked like some miniature, classic Hollywood diva trying to keep a low profile, hence the treatment and title. Just having fun with some snaps of Ella! :)
