Great Falls is a National Park on the Potomac River with sites in the Virginia and Maryland shores of the river. At Great Falls the Potomac River builds up speed and force as it falls over a series of steep, jagged rocks and flows through the narrow Mather Gorge. George Washington was involved with building a canal around the falls on the southwest, or Virginia, side, called the Patowmack Canal, which did not become commercially viable. Remnants of the canal and of a village, founded by General "Light Horse Harry" Lee, father of Robert E. Lee, around the canal are still visible in the park.

One of the most important (to me) sites while on my tour of the Chambers Bay Golf Course was the Lone Fir at The Narrows Although, I believe this angle was taken from hole 15. I thought it a bit humorous finding a sign that said "Please Keep Off".....who could help not wanting to walk on such luscious greens! .......I did, however, comply ;-)

This is a hand-held, 3 exposure ( -2, 0, +2) HDR, processed with Photomatix and further processed with PhotoShop Elements 3.

Fun fact: I make the same facial expression when people photograph me

The morning Food Line at my sister's in Madrid. I missed the best shot - that of a fat one, with no room on the chair, landing on the back of a little one whose legs buckled!
