Danaus chrysippus alcippoides. This plant seems to be a favourite of theirs as I can come to inches from it and it wont fly away, so engrossed it is with its food.
The quilt for my parents is done. Now I just have to convince myself
to wait until Christmas to give it to them!

Hazel Plain
This foundation is all that remains of the two-and-a-half story frame house that was home to Benjamin Chinn and his family in 1861. Their small plantation, Hazel Plain, was typical for Prince William County, VA, producing corn, oats, wheat, and potatoes to feed the family and sell in the local market.
Twice in thirteen months the Chinn family fled their home as the Civil War encroached. The house was used as a field hospital during both battles of Manassas. The Chinn family returned to their home to find it bloodied and battered and their well filled with amputated limbs, an experience not uncommon for area families after the fighting had passed.
The house stood until 1950, when it was razed.
