The African Plains has doubled the size of Dublin Zoo and has created a savannah for some of the zoo's largest residents. It features a mixed-species exhibit with giraffes, ostriches, zebras and scimitar-horned oryxes.
It previously formed part of the Aras an Uachtaráin grounds.
The most widespread and abundant of Africa´s wild horses, showing considerable variation in patterning with five extant subspecies being recognized. Animals in southern Africa are generally characterized by having shadow stripes overlaid on the white stripes but these are absent in central and East African races (as seen on picture).
