Base de la fontaine des Trois Grâces qui a remplacé la statue équestre de Louis XV sur l'ordre des commissaires du district qui craignaient qu'elle ne devînt un sujet de troubles et qui désiraient aussi la conserver "en faveur des arts". C'est alors qu'elle était reléguée sous un hangar qu'elle fut froidement mise en pièces et expédiée en morceaux à La Rochelle pour être transformée en canons.
La fontaine actuelle a été dessinée par Louis-Tullius-Joachim Visconti, architecte du tombeau de Napoléon aux Invalides. la direction de l'entreprise fut confiée à Gumery, mais on lui adjoignit un sculpteur bordelais, Amédée Jouandot. celui-ci sculpta en bronze les trois enfants sur les dauphins et en marbre la bordure du bassin et les moulures du piédestal ; Guméry se chargea des Trois-Grâces, de la colonne et de la vasque. Le monument fut mis en place au début de 1869.

It's 30+ degrees, middle of the day, you're cycling somewhere feeling a bit warm and the Miroir d'Eau swaps into it's "cooling mist" cycle... You just would, wouldn't you?

We think this guy must have been a dancer or performer, because he was really flexible.
I love how prominent his spine is, pushing through his back muscles. Very visceral, very human.

A plaque in the lobby of McDonald's Brussels Bourse which was the first McDonald's restaurant in Belgium in 1978. McDonald's lagged behind its rival Quick for a long time but the number of restaurants is now many times more than Quick. Currently (*03/2025) McDonald's has 119 restaurants in Belgium compared to 76 Quick restaurants, 57 Burger King and 21 KFC.

Place de la Bourse was one of the places people gathered to commemorate after the 2016 Brussels bombings on the morning of 22/03/2016.

2016 Brussels bombings
On the morning of 22 March 2016, three coordinated nail bombings occurred in Belgium: two at Brussels Airport in Zaventem, and one at Maalbeek metro station in Brussels. In these attacks, 32 victims and three perpetrators were killed, and over 300 people were injured. Another bomb was found during a search of the airport. Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) claimed responsibility for the attacks.
The bombings were the deadliest act of terrorism in Belgium's history. The Belgian government declared three days of national mourning.

At the Place de la Bourse in Brussels. This is where people had gathered to pay their respects and lay flowers, and, later, to come and make vile anti-immigrant protests.
La fontaine des Trois Grâces, réalisée par Louis Visconti, date de 1869. Elle remplace une première statue de Louis XV à cheval datant de 1743, qui fut fondue sous la Révolution (1792) ; puis une deuxième représentant Napoléon. La fontaine se compose de trois statues, les trois Grâces, filles de Zeus : Aglaé, Euphrosyne et Thalie, symbolisant la beauté, les arts et la fertilité. L'eau jaillit de leurs jarres, fertilisant la ville de Bordeaux de leur génie propre.

A tram pulls up in front of the Place de la Bourse in Bordeaux, with its reflection caught in the Miroir d'Eau after dark.
The Place de la Bourse is the centuries-old heart of old Bordeaux, with grand buildings linking the riverside with the old city.
The riverside square was renovated in the 18th century by architect Ange-Jacques Gabriel, with the majestic old stock exchange and the Hotel des Fermes flanking the open space around the 1864 Fontaine des Trois-Graces.
In more recent years, the square has seen the city's modern tram network run through its heart, while the Miroir d'Eau, a spectacular flat water feature which intermittently reflects the city and sprays mist in which children of all ages play in, is a popular new attraction busy throughout the day.

An evening revisit of this space invader with a message on the Place de la Bourse in the 2ème arroundissement of Paris. In the plinth of the building of Agence Presse France. In 2015 Invader was commissioned by ESA to provide a number of its buildings and centers with space invaders (Noordwijk, Köln, Rome, Redu, Frankfurt and Paris) and this appears to be part of this. The message of this space invader is mainly "save the planet and the space invaders".
