Pixie really wasn't well at the beginning of the week. She was not eating and spent all day curled up sleeping - not like her at all. We took her to the vet's and they said she had a temperature and, although there wasn't anything obvious, she had an infection. She was given anti inflammatory and long lasting antibiotic injections. Pleased to say she appears to be back to her old self. My health update: I have a CT scan on 27th January to check out how the abscesses are doing now that I have been on antibiotics for a while.
Just in case your interested, the painting behind Pixie is a watercolour by my sister in law: she is an artist. The kerry lambs were in the field next to the cottage she used to live in. Last time we visited it, I was admiring it and she gave it to me!!
Happy Furry Friday everyone
Wishing you a happy and healthy weekend. We have some sunshine today - wooo hooo!
The last of my interpretation of the Pixie Store in Clayton, New Mexico. I love the colors and the "O".
The pixie cup looks like the name implies, a tiny cup (1/2 inch high) on the forest floor used by the pixies or wood fairies to sip the morning dew.

Phill uses a festival trolley for transporting his work equipment in and out of schools. He needed to move some large items around the garden so he brought it in from the car. After he had finished, we found Pixie ready for her ride around the garden. We were both to busy for 'games' so instead she used it has a shaded bed
This Cladonia sp. lichen grows on the wood lining the edge of the seawall path all along Fenn Creek!
Sadly, as the seawall is being eroded parts of the wooden edging are being washed away, and so these gorgeous little pixie cups are losing their habitat :-(
We are back to high temperatures again this week down in the South of England. My youngest niece and her family are meant to be touring the North Coast 500 road in a camper van at the moment and are having to change direction because the weather is so windy and rainy up where she is! Hard to imagine when we are frying down here. Our living room gets the afternoon sun, so by 2.00pm we have to close all the curtains on that side of the house. As you can see, Pixie still likes to keep an eye on things
We are spending the day at the beach in Weymouth tomorrow with Charlotte and the children. She lives in Yeovil now, so it is a half way meet up place for us
Dancing with Pixies ... After all the foraging and rummaging around in the leaf litter, i had a little nibble on a couple of the pretty one's, and started hallucinating ... amazing what a little magic mushroom does ...

Pixie loves to stop at the fountains for a drink. She likes even better to be the first in line, so If there are other dogs around she pushes them away and drinks first.

After winning the pixie’s trust with raisins and honey, I was able to persuade her to come indoors and pose for this week’s Smile on Saturday pictures. She is proud of her wings and takes excellent care of them, as they are her main form of transportation and help her escape predators, such as falcons, cats, and foxes.

Created for the Smile on Saturday theme, THINGS WITH WINGS.
I think Pixie is amused at my attempt to use the new garden hose ( when the nozzle shot off) ! It's all a bit strange for our 3 remaining cats as Milu is not around anymore. Ray started sleeping in the places that once belonged to Milu and suddenly Fifi and a mystery white cat have appeared in our garden from next door. No photos yet ! I've just found out that the mysterious white cat is in fact called Henri .
The wet forest floor around Russell Falls is ideal habitat for hosting a variety of fungi. Although quite common this was the first time I'd seen Pixies' parasols (Mycena interrupta), The blue crowns shown here are about a centimetre across.

Pixie, as usual, wanted all the attention so started playing with my bookmark until I took notice of her

Pixie, Ray and Kaiser all vie over this basket as it is right next to the radiator. Whoever manages to hop on it after breakfast is usually there for the day. Pixie got the hot spot on this occasion.
We are off to my sister's this weekend to deliver Christmas presents and see the family. The forecast is for torrential rain all weekend, so I am not looking forward to the journey.
Happy Furry Friday everyone
Wishing you a happy and healthy weekend
Pixie races me up to bed every night as we have a little playtime then. I got up and she sprinted upstairs but I went into the kitchen first. She practically rolled her eyes at me when I finally made it up the stairs
Phill planted six sunflowers in the garden four of which are about seven tall - I think they have been straining to reach the sun - lol The flowers aren't as big as we thought they would be but then poor things have had little sun
The sun lounger was down the bottom of the garden in the shade. with only a small amount of dappled light coming through. Pixie decided it was the perfect spot for her
Pixie always joins me in bed in the morning while I drink my tea and read the on-line papers. She kept turning her head around to make sure I was still there
Pixie Lore
Pixies dwell in the twilight, between day and night, between the heavens and the earth, between the conscious and the unconscious... where all things are possible, where our past and future meet, where we meet ourselves coming back. When we dance with the pixies, we dance with the reflections of our true selves and the true nature of the world.
Pixies love to dance. Their music is the most haunting and beautiful ever heard by human ears. Music filled with ancient sadness, as sweet as fresh honey, deeply sensual, with rhythms that are tranquil one moment, demented the next. Because of the limitations of the human ear, it is a music that is more felt then heard. Pixies often dance in circles, leaving rings of flattened grass to mark the sites of their midnight revels-- or circles of toadstools springing up where Pixie feet have trod.
