I was going through some old photos and found this one when Pixie had not long had the kittens. She was never very motherly and I was often trying to 'rescue' her babies. Let's face it she was only about 6 months old when she had the kittens, so she was only a baby herself. She is four years old now - where does the time go?

Happy Furry Friday!

Wishing everyone a healthy and safe weekend

Pixie runs into the bedroom every morning ready for fun and games. She is definitely a morning kind of kitty

Cladonia

alien garden

Trees with hoarfrost, mist, the sun behind the trees and a touch of fairy magic ;-)

I felt eyes on me and looked around and there was Pixie sitting on the stairs staring.

Pixie was trying to get in through the bedroom window but it opens outwards so Phill was trying to nudge her away but understanding windows she remained steadfast and outside

She looked so cute on the bed.

We are off to Wales on Sunday, for a few days, to see Phill's family for the first time in over two years, due to Covid. It will be so nice to see them all.

Happy Furry Friday everyone.

Wishing you a happy and healthy weekend

.....from Pixie on International Cats' Day

Pixie enjoying her best life in the garden. We had another unseasonable hot day again today.

Pixie really wasn't well at the beginning of the week. She was not eating and spent all day curled up sleeping - not like her at all. We took her to the vet's and they said she had a temperature and, although there wasn't anything obvious, she had an infection. She was given anti inflammatory and long lasting antibiotic injections. Pleased to say she appears to be back to her old self. My health update: I have a CT scan on 27th January to check out how the abscesses are doing now that I have been on antibiotics for a while.

Just in case your interested, the painting behind Pixie is a watercolour by my sister in law: she is an artist. The kerry lambs were in the field next to the cottage she used to live in. Last time we visited it, I was admiring it and she gave it to me!!

Happy Furry Friday everyone

Wishing you a happy and healthy weekend. We have some sunshine today - wooo hooo!

Cup Lichens on a Pine tree stump. Surprisingly common but overlooked as they're tiny and I must add, my first encounter. Reindeer eat them apparently though there can't be much nutrition in them! I read that Yellow Stag's Horn [my favourite fungi] prefer Conifers and failed to find any. There were lots of bright red Russula emetica [Sickener] mushrooms but all in grass and needles making it hard to frame a tidy shot. I saw a shot of these which gave me an idea..........

The last of my interpretation of the Pixie Store in Clayton, New Mexico. I love the colors and the "O".

Pixie loves to stop at the fountains for a drink. She likes even better to be the first in line, so If there are other dogs around she pushes them away and drinks first.

Deep among the luminescent fungi, if you are lucky you may catch sight of the illusive Pixie.

This box was so narrow she had to reverse out - not so good for pouncing on a passing cat but a very good hideout !

~I can picture a bunch of little pixies running around underneath these. Very pretty and delicate.~

It was five years ago, on Tuesday September 15, that we lost her. She was a beauty and so smart and loving. We miss her always.

This Cladonia sp. lichen grows on the wood lining the edge of the seawall path all along Fenn Creek!

Sadly, as the seawall is being eroded parts of the wooden edging are being washed away, and so these gorgeous little pixie cups are losing their habitat :-(

Dancing with Pixies ... After all the foraging and rummaging around in the leaf litter, i had a little nibble on a couple of the pretty one's, and started hallucinating ... amazing what a little magic mushroom does ...

Phill uses a festival trolley for transporting his work equipment in and out of schools. He needed to move some large items around the garden so he brought it in from the car. After he had finished, we found Pixie ready for her ride around the garden. We were both to busy for 'games' so instead she used it has a shaded bed

Macro Mondays - Souvenir

Happy Macro Monday everyone.

I think I've had this little pixie for 50+ years, but I can't remember who gave it to me, or whether I bought it myself.

The base is 4cm across, and he is 5cm tall.

We are back to high temperatures again this week down in the South of England. My youngest niece and her family are meant to be touring the North Coast 500 road in a camper van at the moment and are having to change direction because the weather is so windy and rainy up where she is! Hard to imagine when we are frying down here. Our living room gets the afternoon sun, so by 2.00pm we have to close all the curtains on that side of the house. As you can see, Pixie still likes to keep an eye on things

We are spending the day at the beach in Weymouth tomorrow with Charlotte and the children. She lives in Yeovil now, so it is a half way meet up place for us

She had found the only ray of sunshine. Most days here at the moment are grey, dark and wet

Pixie is such a poser

Pixie races me up to bed every night as we have a little playtime then. I got up and she sprinted upstairs but I went into the kitchen first. She practically rolled her eyes at me when I finally made it up the stairs

After winning the pixie’s trust with raisins and honey, I was able to persuade her to come indoors and pose for this week’s Smile on Saturday pictures. She is proud of her wings and takes excellent care of them, as they are her main form of transportation and help her escape predators, such as falcons, cats, and foxes.

The wet forest floor around Russell Falls is ideal habitat for hosting a variety of fungi. Although quite common this was the first time I'd seen Pixies' parasols (Mycena interrupta), The blue crowns shown here are about a centimetre across.
